Welcome all, and happy “Brad Dourif’s birthday” week! You may all comb your eyebrows up, stain your lips, and surprisingly discover you were in Myst III: Exile.

For me, the hands-down GOTW is Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It’s a ninja game from the developers of the Souls games and Bloodborne, but it’s not just a feudal Japan skin slapped on top of a Souls game. Sekiro includes elements to address notable absences in previous games. For starters, it’s easy to jump. There will be platforming, rather than merely falling off rickety plank bridges, plus you have a hookshot. Perhaps most interestingly, though, stamina is gone. Instead, the new posture system is designed to encourage timing and flow between attack and defense, rather than block-spamming. I know that sounds like Bloodborne, but this appears to bring even more agility and movement into battle. It will still be brutal, of course, just in a more nimble way. And naturally, being a ninja game, stealth is on the menu. Let’s not forget that these are the devs that made Tenchu back in the day, and although that was 20 years ago, apparently some of the old team have been crouching on a roof beam in the office, waiting for their chance to pounce and insert stealth mechanics. Or there’s some good corporate memory practices going on.

If you’re on the Switch, or simply do not enjoy FromSoftware’s distinct blend of challenge and mockery, you could try the other ninja game coming out this week, American Ninja Warrior Challenge. You may also be hyped for the anime hack-n-slash of Fate/Extella Link. But if you want me to give another recommendation, well, as Jeff Probst would say, I got nothin’ for ya.

Huh, Turok turned out to be real?

Vita: The Lost Child
That is another game that is coming out this week.

I'm super excited of Sekiro. Give me that From Software joint.

Please insert Sekiro directly into my veins.

American Ninja Warrior for me, please and thank you.

Sekiro is my most anticipated game of 2019. Looking forward to it!

Not really, but it shows that N64 games will be remastered instead of put on some sort of Virtual Console on Switch.

Not sure it does.

Nintendo owns Virtual Console. Nintendo does not own Turok. Same reason you're not going to see Super Street Fighter on Virtual Console. It ain't Nintendo's to put on there.
