Borderlands 3 Loot-All

The thing for me is many times I struggled 1/2 - 2/3 of the way through the campaign with many classes. So this game addresses that (both in the variety of ways the classes play + the fact that I can play as little of the campaign as I want with each of them) which means I will play an ungodly amount of more hours on this game!

You know, it might be an interesting route to take with future Diablo games: focus the loot system on weapons and just have an armor or shield slot instead of rings/necklace/head/chest/legs/arms/gloves/pinky toe etc. That way you can give weapon types inherent basic legendary properties or combat skills that will be upgraded and expanded upon by weapon rarity. Slotting gems could be leveled and provide bonuses to the looting character's class skills.

Amazon sucks. Preordered for Xbox one in July. They won't deliver till the 17th, 4 days after street days. Sigh. I took the day off and everything..

Cancel it and go to a local store.

And Surprise I curse there name out loud and I get an email this morning saying its available for release date delivery so will be delivered 9/13. I don't care about the reviews, I am excited for more Borderlands!

this series has always, for me, just been a medium through which i can watch numbers pop out of moving targers, slightly incrementally better loot dropping at my feet, and is mindless enough for me to turn the volume down and listen to podcasts in the background....so as long as all THAT is still intact, then i'll be getting my moneys worth out of it I think.

Yup same for me I don't really care for the story or humour at all (unless it's Tales from the Borderlands which was amazing). I just like the cell shaded characters and environments and running around getting loot.

Reviews over all I found have been really good though there are a couple of outliers but sounds like the biggest complaints are it's cringy humour and more of the same. So as someone who has never found the humour good more of the same sounds perfect.

Jeff was listening through your smart home devices and was offended so he was able to up the delivery date for you

I've pre-ordered this for both PS4 and PC, this meat-puppet is ready for Friday! ...Save for the part of finding people to party with (I'm only really able to play after 10pm PST most nights which is inconvenient to party up with the other people I know), but if anyone needs another member for their late night shoot-n-loot, look me up.

If you're on PC and in NA, the game actually unlocks on Thursday at 4pm (PDT) or 7pm (EDT).

That's awesome!

So what characters you all starting out with?

I'm on the fence where I start with either F4rge or Zane. Moze is also starting to grow on me with that mech!

For my first run solo, I'll go with FL4K. I'll play through it later with my co-op friend and will base my choice on who he goes with. All 4 seem really interesting and with the multiple and more complex action skills, I'm interested in testing them all out.

I don't know who to start with:
Fl4k seems to be goto for solo
Amara seems to be the least complicated yet still incredibly powerful
Zane gets 2 action skills and losing grenades is no big deal since his helpers can drop them
Moze seems to have a lot of utility outside her mech (the splash damage bonuses look incredible)

Amara also has a vast amount of action skills because every one of her trees has multiple different action skills. I’m probably going to do a run-through (at least partially) with each character over the coming years.

I originally was going to go the siren but after hearing some of Fl4k voice lines and just the voice acting in generally that the first character I'm playing for sure.

Hey, also a fellow west coaster...that plays primarily after 9pm PST. Not sure if I'm going to be able to get in game or not this weekend, but would be great to play at some point.

From what I have heard Zane has some really good lines too.

We'll see what time Amazon delivers it to me. Might get the "by 8 pm" bs and so won't be on until 8:01 PM CDT on Friday, even though I have the day off. So if anyone wants to play multiplayer on Xbox One, gamertag is Rainsmercygwj.

I debated starting with Fl4k, but Amara is the choice for me. The question I face is whether to mostly just focus on becoming an elemental witch making the battlefield a rainbow of pain or a melee-focused brawler punching some psycho masks.

I like short cooldowns, so I think I'll probably go with either zane or the fl4k to start. I'm going to save amara for when I want to play on console someday. Seems like a good plan.

Update: I saw in the news that Epic was allowing preloading on pc now. I submitted a ticket and got my game code early (within about an hour) and now I can preload on my shiny new Epic store account.

I may have had a complication because I bought the game on the website before I created an epic account, so there was no way to link the purchase without the game code. Anyway, they'll rectify this issue if anybody else is having it, so I thought I'd mention it here.

Edit: Just realize I double posted - apologies!

I think I am doing this build with Amara.

This is the melee build I was looking at for Amara (keeping the heal on action skill because I'll be co-op with the partner, but that may switch depending on what he chooses to build and play).

I got an email today saying I could pre-load on PC and confirmed the activation time of 4pm PDT. However, I was able to pre-load yesterday.

I guess there's a chance it was a coincidence I sent in a support ticket and immediately got a response, but anecdotally, if you're waiting on a code and want to preload, it may be worth a shot.

This is my hybrid amara build
It is really hard not to take anything in the fire based tree but I just love the melee override capstone in the corrosive tree. Plus Revelation and Do Unto Others seem awesome!

Did anyone listen to this week's Giant Bombcast and their discussion of BL3 reviews? Seems a little shady. They were told that they weren't given a review code partially because the tone of their E3 coverage. So it looks like there is a bit of cherry picking reviewers to get a good metacritic score for release day. I'm sure for a lot of people it would not matter either way, but I'm suspicious given all the shenanigans that have gone on with gearbox recently.

A bad or mediocre review is not going to make a dent in my interest in this game. So yes, Gearbox has been doing a lot of shenanigans over the last years. But I have seen enough in preview videos to give a stern side glance at anything that mentions issue with repetitive missions, and tiresome crude humor. That has always been trademarks of Borderlands, I always play with the sound off, and there are proving grounds as an option to playing the campaign.

My fl4k build with no capstone skill

Hmm that Revelation skill mod along with the Deliverance action skill sounds neat. I wonder if the Elemental Projectiles that Deliverance spawns cause the Revelation Novas? That could be an amazing build for dealing with large groups.

That was sort of the thought. And then the melee override could bring the pain to single targets.
And if all else fails, I know the nova may end up doing not that much damage but it will make up for it by assuring that a ton of projectiles are spawned.

I am keeping the element type to shock because I really haven't found that corrosive is all that powerful whether against armored targets or not. Explosive and/or hitting the critical spots seems way more effective in my personal experience. Incinerate is great against flesh but not much else. But shock weapons do amazing against shields and really good against other targets. There was a great quest reward pistol in TPS that was shock and it was my go to for 6+ levels.

I did and Giant Bomb has the right of it. The game is going to have stupid juvenile dialogue & jokes and stale mission structure but deliver on what Borderlands has always done well. Them not giving them an early copy is fine in that GB doesn’t really do reviews anymore. That they didn’t because of the E2 response is sh*tty and not telling the truth to other outlets is sh*ttier. This is probably going to be one of the least surprising games of all time. 2K being weird and crappy plus the leader of Gearbox having extremely serious allegations against him are what concerns me. The game itself is something I’ll enjoy for a hundred hours over several years.

This is how I feel as well. I have been going back to BL2 from time to time ever since it was released. Mainly I am hoping for more of the same with some new characters and environments to explore.

Ugh, I can't deal with Zane right now. He has so much awesome stuff but that just causes indecision. And if I am going to use 2 action skills instead of grenades, both skills have to be traited up to make it worth it. I am leaning clone+shield. I wanted to use clone + drone but the drone is on a giant cooldown and we don't know if cooldowns don't start until after the action skill duration has ended. (I am leaning yes since that is the way it worked in prior Borderlands)

Moze should be easy if I remember her right: go whole hog on her splash damage tree.
I'll edit with the build I come up with:
Here she is. Demolition woman is the bomb!

I made a deal with myself back in the day to separate art and artists. If I didn't watch an excellent film because one of the actors' political opinions, or indeed if I didn't eat Chick-fil-a because of whatever, I'd be doing my eyes and taste buds disservice! I mean, what if I didn't read "A Picture of Dorian Gray" just because Oscar Wilde was chaotic neutral at best? I'd be missing out.

I completely respect that people don't want to fund people that are problematic for them, but I've found myself much happier when I don't worry whence my media comes. I've removed angst from my life and I'm happier for it.

(Hey, maybe I'm just trying to justify my first pre-order in years. Who knows?)
