Apex Legends - Catch All

Woah, Revanant‘s ultimate works for all team members?... That is pretty neat! In the longrun I expect him to be nerfed though. I only played him once and he seems ridiculously fast (it feels like he is faster while crouching than other characters are just walking). Even his regular ability seems great and its cool down count is not too long. Can’t wait to experiment more with him.

Had another nice evening last night, playing with a couple friends I've made on Xbox Live. Got a couple wins as Wattson, since most of my dailies didn't require me to play as any particular character.

Did they change the re-roll system for dailies? It wasn't asking me to pay anything; I like to re-roll anything to do with snipers or headshots.

I'm enjoying the various changes keeping things fresh. The game needs pretty regular changes, imho. Keeping this season to three months and giving us access to King's Canyon for half of it ought to be a big help in that department.

Sidebar, because I didn't even know you could reroll dailies!! Why do you avoid the sniper and headshot dailies? I'm not particularly good at headshots, but doing the dailies for those really impressed on me how much faster you can take people down when you try to focus on the head. It dramatically improved my kills per game over a period of a few days.

I can't say much for snipers, mostly I only love the charge rifle, but I think there's been some significant changes to the weapons this patch, right?

I don't use the sniper weapons unless I can't get anything I like better. Probably I'm just too lazy to adjust for bullet drop. When I want to shoot "far", the Hemlok is my go-to, though I've been practicing with the Anvil a bit lately.

I've had plenty of times (before re-rolling existed) that I've tried to get the headshot dailies, but I ended up spending literally an hour plus just not getting them. I think I get into a fight and it's hard not to go center of mass. Also, there's something about Apex where it's hard for me to play experimentally. The tantalizing promise of BR games is that THIS might be the match I win! I'll make variations for a battle pass challenge like using shotguns or playing a certain character and using one specific ability, but I mostly just play my game.

Headshots have always been king in the game and snipers have the higher damage profile (and possibly higher headshot multiplier). The new sniper rifle unbuffed by batteries does 125 to the head.

Are you PC players connecting to Discord when playing or another chat app? I played a bit with Stingray but didn't see anyone else the last 2 nights around 9pm EST.

Bullet drop is a big part of why I love the charge rifle so much.

The charge rifle is great.

I like the G7 Scout at mid range (3x). The bullet drop is very predictable and the double shot mod makes it somewhat comparable to other snipers for damage.

Our team killed half the field

My dream setup is a charge rifle and a prowler with select fire full auto. The only other piece I really feel is critical is a sniper scope. I can make do with whatever other bits I can get

My new favorite game within the game: going full-stealth during any firefight (best when 3rd-partying another battle) and laying down Caustic traps at Revenant totems.

I like the Prowler too but only take it if it's the first gun I find or I find a select fire first. My second gun is whatever I can find that uses the same ammo as my first gun. Since sniper rifles have different ammo now that'll probably change.

My default loadout usually has the Flatline in it. It's just the best gun in the game IMO. Then I either stick with the R-99 or Peacekeeper. I am starting to warm up to the L-Star believe it or not.

I want to play this game with you!

My favorite Apex YTer just released a video calling the L-Star the best gun at the moment, and comparing it to the R99. I've barely tried it, but I'm willing to give it a shot. The fact that you never have to reload is extremely useful. I've lost several fights where I didn't have enough time or didn't remember to reload both weapons

Won a game last night where I joined 2 randoms. One of the randoms dropped immediately before jump so it was just 2 of us. I used the LSTAR for the first time and really liked it a lot. Ended up with 3 kills, the rando with 6 and we won the match. Was fun to jump back in and win after taking off 6 months from it.

My typical setup has been Charge Rifle with 3x scope or 2x (I'll make do with a 2x-4x but anything larger is too much), and either an Alternator or R99, or Flatline. If I can't get my hands on a CR then I'll typically go Alternator/R99 and G7. I haven't gotten used to the LSTAR yet, but it is useful.

As far as Season 4 goes, I need some serious time to get used to the places the added or blasted apart.

As far as gun changes go...

The buff on the Hemlock seems to be working wonders for me, especially at 2xHCOG range, like from the stop of a Sorting Factory building to anywhere on the ground. It fires faster single shot, and in burst I swear the grouping of bullets is closer together.

I got to loving Flatline in the Winter Express event. Good at any range with an Anvil. Still great.

Weirdly, I really love Alternator early to mid-game, because it's the only gun I can get a bunch of headshots with while strafing. I still can't R99 for the life of me. If someone else sprays their R99 around me, guaranteed the alternator with just a level one mag will drop them even in purple armor.

Shotguns are great when I'm calm enough to wait that 0.15 seconds for lining up center of mass. Terrible when I'm not.

Scout is still way overpowered. Way overpowered. I'm not sure how making it an assault rifle changes anything other than which stock to put on it...

I've had 3 wins this season with Octane, who isn't my main. It's definitely been strange learning this map, and maybe I'm just terrible this season, but I'm having a really hard time seeing on this map. I'm not sure if it's the color change, but for some reason teams have been harder for me to see, especially around the lava areas.

The lighting and sun position really does throw my mind for a loop as well. My brain thinks I am looking in one cardinal direction when I'm going in the opposite direction I should be. The lighting is not a bad thing it is just taking some adjustment.

Some specific areas are really difficult for me to navigate now...Lava Station especially.

I'm glad they added jetpacks for when you fall over the lava because I would be dead a few times if it wasn't for that.

Wow I'm really bad at this.

Most of the time, I'm dead with zero damage done.

Same. I just feel like my two random team mates are rolling their eyes at best, wishing me and family dead at worst.

I might feel like that a little more often if those two team-mates didn't sprint off in opposite directions immediately upon touching down, leaving me to pick at random which one to try and squad up with. Usually, Captain Solo gets killed, and Lieutenant Tag-Along dutifully drags me over to their bleeding husk to get us both killed while I'm doing my best Cyril from Archer impression.

I just won my first game of this. It's the sort of victory you only see in Battle Royale games.... only one kill between the three of us, we just got to the ring first every time, positioned well and most other players were killed by the storm. I'm still pretty terrible, but have definitely noticed improvements in my aim. Not to mention, having spent time in the firing range I'm getting a better feel for the weapons I want. Still usually the weak link but I'm having fun!!

If this is the way shields might go in the future, it's going to be interesting.

FINALLY

Came back and starting playing with a few of you fine folk again over the past few days. Probably played over 30 matches in the time back, today was my first win. Felt freakin' GREAT too because I suckered the last one remaining to drop off his high ground and look for me, so I Bambulted and de-cloaked right in front of him with my double tap EVA-8. I love that gun.
