Apex Legends - Catch All

I also think there's more thought that goes into who you're choosing for a team. If you play with friends you'll figure out a good mix of characters for your strengths, and on the best way to navigate the playing field. I've definitely stepped away from using characters from the past two seasons and started working on others that have better advantages for this map.

I had a blast on the map last night and I won with an impressive slide down a snowy bank, mowing down a Gibby with an R99 with a purple extended mag and barrel stab, taking out the kill Champion.

What made it even more epic was my 13 year old just happened to walk up behind me to catch the last 2 minutes of the match and we hi-fived (as I made an involuntary Ric Flair "WOOOO!") and he said that he hadn't seen a win that cool looking in game.

I got a handful of wins over the weekend with friends. And then one last night in my first match. I promptly logged off after that. Didn't want to end the night with a loss. Has anyone else tried out Crypto yet? I picked him up today and figured I'd give him a go.

Yep - his ability is a drone to fly around and scout where the bad guys are. Powerful radar that marks enemies for a time, but easy to kill. Note: the ultimate is also drone-based a doesn't work like others. You fly your drone as usual then I believe pull your (RT) to fire it if charged. It removes enemy shields and makes them run slow for a few seconds. A great ability if you can coordinate when to pressure with your squad.

The drone can also remotely open doors, get intel if you look at the hanging banners scattered around the map (such as how many squads are in range), and apparently can be used to grab a player's banner off their box if they're dead (haven't tried this one out yet).

The pc population has taken a big nose dive. Tried to get some matches in before work and the queue never raised above 15 players waiting on a rank game and took 20 minutes to find a regular match.

At night, prime time, it's not been an issue.

Maybe a Destiny 2: Shadowkeep thing? Matches have been steady over on Xbox from my experience.

I just saw on Reddit that you can apparently fly a Pathfinder around on the drone.

Can confirm, as I showed some fellow GJWers that this was possible, several days ago.

"Heeeere I go," indeed.

That's really odd. I never waited more than a minute for regular play early in the morning. I play a lot around 7am-9am EST.

Ranked is another story. That's a night time only thing

Yea i saw you and Matt on, but only had time for a one or two quick ones. Ended up getting one at the last moment and intentionally went hot so it would end soon.

Protip: Do not tell your squadmates that you got the golden ticket (well, red) to the loot vault unless you want to race the damn loot goblins to the goodies. Ping the stuff you don't want afterwards.

I'm still annoyed that they added ranked challenges this season, but I got the "win a ranked match" weekly done and I imagine there aren't any that will be more challenging.

There are some people in ranked who REALLY don't belong there. I had a Pathfinder get himself killed, then rezzed, then dove to a different building from the one the rest of us were in, where we were pinging multiple blue shields for him.

Also still seeing down-quitters in ranked. So disappointing. I'm sure we've all won matches after someone quit. The last time it happened to me, we made it to top 3 where all the squads were engaging at the same time. This dude quit while we were fighting and beating the squad that landed with us! So aggravating.

Duly noted for the next time we run together. MWAH.

One of my teammates last night found a vault key while looting someone's body and we were already in ring 3 so there was no point. But soon.

So, haven't played since the only locked characters were Caustic and Mirage (so a few weeks after launch I guess?) Looking to get back into this thing. Anything I should know?

GLHF!

WizardM0de and I hooked up last night and got a random from Colombia in our squad. He had a mic and we communicated well, so we decided to continue playing together. A couple hours later, we had amassed four wins together! This was by far my best night of Legending.

Had my first win trying out ranked last night. And then when we went in as champions in the next game the server lagged so badly we were killed within two minutes while everyone ran at normal speed. One person in my party quit so I had to deal with my first ever abandon penalty. Luckily it went away when I switched to unranked. But still, that lag was deeply unfair.

Leave penalty is personal only. Your teammates can leave and it doesn't affect you unless you also leave early. It throws up a warning first before you do it.

Why is server lag still an issue? Cause I don't experience it as much in unranked as I have in ranked. Makes me less inclined to play any ranked matches.

I got about an hour in last night and I still really like this game. I love PUBG (heck, I did a podcast about the dumb thing) but there is just something special about Apex. It feels incredible to play. There is a layer of polish that Apex has that is missing from PUBG (even years after release).

I also think the gunplay is more my speed and the fact that the heroes tend to stand out from the environment better makes a huge difference for me. I hated dying without ever seeing the enemy in PUBG.

Anyone see the new event trailer?

Seen it, loved it!

I'm enjoying this season for sure. @Dominic Knight I need to add you on PSN!!

"This is my costume, I'm Octane's legs."

Shadowfall is out and it's an absolute blast! The last guy got into the dropship by claoking as mirage and bypassing all of us zombies.

One thing I didn't realize is that its solos until the top 10! THen you work together to get to the dropship. If someone in the top 10 goes down you can try and res them. Very Left 4 Dead-like

Watson is great in this mode. Hunkered in a building with fences and killed about 15 zombies and made it out on the dropship. This mode gets your adrenaline going

Shadowfall is very cool, but kinda wish there was a way to play with friends.

Also lame that you can't earn any Halloween Apex Packs by playing, only by paying $7. Hell, I might even consider paying $7 to get the skin of my choice, but for random items that might not even include a skin? Come on!

Speaking of in-game purchases, how the heck to you go about buying characters? Do they ever do free weekends or anything or do you just have to buy them blind and hope you like playing as them?

People who play a lot easily earn more Legend tokens than they can ever spend. Those unlock characters and not much else (occasionally they unlock palette swaps of legendary skins if you own the base legendary skin).

So people who play a lot unlock every character on release for free.

I honestly wasn't sure if that was a viable option. That's good to know! Thanks for the help.
