Apex Legends - A Titanfall Battle Royale

I find the hardest part of this game is learning all of the different weapons. So many times I've been rushing around upgrading what looks like a good gun, only to find that the fire rate is abysmal (like when I get into a close range battle with a single shot rifle designed for ranged combat), or the base clip size is tiny and I'm forever reloading.

I need to go back into the Tutorial level and try out all of the different guns. It's just a shame you don't have access to mods in the tutorial to figure out what guns you should be focusing on, or what to focus on upgrading.

I also wish you could play the tutorial level with different characters, so you can play with their abilities and test them out. Seems like an obvious thing to miss them creating in the game. I want to try out Pathfinders' zipline ability in a safe environment where it's not going to p!ss off my teammates.

Yeah, with games like this it's part of the process to get info externally. It's something I used to hate, but now enjoy because I can engage with the game when I'm not playing. I can research something during down time at work or while watching TV. And this is no EVE/Elite/Warframe, those games need more time outside the game than in early on.

I also do wish we could practice with each of the characters in the tutorial. I wouldn't worry too much about pissing off your team mates though, so far my experiences are pretty chill. Stick together, but still play your game.

I am surprised how much i am loving this game, given how both Fortnite and Pubg do nothing for me. I would like a jumping tutorial, as i always give that away if i'm in the third slot. Harkonis was trying to show me on xboxone but...gah, i couldn't figure out how to point straight down.

I am definitely up for playing on xbox, though i might have to decline due to kids at times. GWJRoo on xbox.

I tried loading on PC but got weird error message from Origin and didn't have time to look into solving that.

So, so much better playing with you all, but to my surprise most pub groups are pretty good at sharing, sticking together, pinging loot. How do you ping that you need an ammo type? On voice i have said i am low and every time my teammates have dropped or pinged ammi for me.

As i also sorta suck with controller fps, i play lifeline, and have revived my team to top 3 finishes...which i am cool with as my win vs. kills. My supply drops seem to have level 3 armor like 75% of the time, btw. So drop accelerators for your healer...

In your inventory menu, ping over the ammo type icon of one of the 2 weapons you have (not ammo in inventory slots). You can do the same for armor, helmets, backpack, and shield, but I think those slots need to be empty.

Cool, thanks. I am always closing inventory as soon as possible cause I'm sure I will die the moment I open it, so really I've only opened it to drop stuff for teammates, or drop stuff I don't need if I'm full. As fast as possible.

Hey, I just updated my Origin app for the first time in...2 years it turns out. And now I am downloading Apex for PC. I have searched and failed to find how to easily add Steam Friends to Origin. Little help please?

p.s. added my Origin name to my sig: gwjroo

I'll definitely be up to play on PC, Roo. I'll add you now.

Apex Legends itself reads your steam friends list once you link it, I don't think Origin does.

Launch the game, click on one of the 2 diamond shapes to either side of your character to play with friends, and then there's a button to link your steam account.

Assuming I can get this to run. I downloaded it and got a "Unsupported CPU" - CPU Does Not Have SSSE3" message. Working on resolving now...

Edit: Well, I'll see you all on Xbox.

The developer wrote, "AMD Phenom Crashing

Apex can’t run on PC’s using AMD Phenom or older processors. For reference we’ve got the full set of PC System Requirements here: https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legend...

We've changed the way that we detect below our Min Spec, and will now display the message CPU does not have SSE 3"

I have AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8 GHz. Which runs every other game fine, since it's my graphics card that lets me most things at "Very High".

Weird.

Still will play on Xbox One, though you can find many AMD Phenom people swearing, deleting Origin, swearing some more at EA. I'm just...nonplussed. And I have no reason to upgrade my CPU.

But Fortnite is also Free2Play. I just figured they were still paying notable streamers for their time.

Respawn stopped paying the streamers after Feb 6 (except Ninja who I think had a paid stream on Nov 7 because he was sick on a prior day). After that, to my knowledge, the streamers haven't been paid by Respawn; they just like the game.

There's a LOT of streamers that i know Respawn didn't support that jumped on and still playing it.

I'm starting to feel like the TTK is fine but the ammo capacity needs to be upped for each gun. I am always finding myself on the cusp of taking someone down but constantly run out of ammo on my clip even with a purple mag.

Switch weapons. It's faster than reloading. I try to always use my peacekeeper or wingman to finish off someone after I've used an SMG or AR to burn down their shield and some of their health.

I think this is the biggest reason the spitfire is the best gun currently. The flatline/spitfire have very similar damage profiles. They use same ammo. The flatline is slightly better without attachments but feels nearly same with. However, default flatline is 20 round clip. Spitfire is 35. Spitfire also gains more from extra mags than flatline. It is also my current issue with Carbine. It is still probably second best gun but clip size is killer on it.

I think the ammo clip size has been very carefully setup, so that against a heavily armored opponent, you pretty much have to switch to that second weapon during an engagement.

Played a bunch for the first time this weekend. Was my first time trying a BR and had a lot of fun. More than I expected with not having any buds to play with and not liking to put a headset in. The ping system is revolutionary, like others have said!

I gravitated towards Gibraltar, cuz I thought “Neat! A tanky, defensive class! I like to play more defensively!” But am beginning to realize that the bubble is not the greatest with that long animation to put down and oh yeah, everyone has the same health total, so not much in the way of defense. I also haven’t found that his shield on pulling up sights has helped me, but that might just be me being new.

Playing on PS4, do people get annoyed when I spam R1 to update the location of where an enemy is heading? I didn’t even think about it until recently when I saw someone else do it. I guess it’s a little distracting to keep popping it!

Yea this is a mistake a lot folks make. Everyone starts the same. Armor and health. You really can't play 'defensive' or be an actual tank like other games. Same goes for support. To win everyone needs to be in the fight.

Gibraltar's shield while ADS breaks after a few shots. Which is handy, but not something you can rely on. Plus it's also a big glowing target.

This, very much this.

Just secured a 1st place by hitting a target in skull town dancing with a teammate while I was atop the bones.

The wins in this are just so sweet to overcome the frustration of dying in the first few seconds.

To quote Bangalore, "It's called a magazine, clips are what civies use in their hair".

Clips are what helps keep the bullets together for the M1 Garand. Magazines are what you read on the john.

Spent two awesome hours playing Xbox Apex with Harkonis today, who is very patient with teaching me how to fly and not lose all airspeed on the initial jump. What's making this game great for me is partly my how threshold of needing to "win" or rack up kills to have fun.

It's fun.

Hopefully we can find a third, and have a three way...I mean a full squad going on Xbox.

I get annoyed when teammates don't use it. I don't know how much is too much, but too little is deadly. Even when we're on voice comms, I too frequently know that someone is shooting at my teammate but don't have any information about where they are.

This... I prefer teammates spotting enemies because one should not assume the rest of the team sees the target.

I can't decide if I like this game or not.

It's probably the best BR game out there. I mean, it's the only BR game I've tried where I didn't play about 3 rounds and think "OK, that's enough of that forever." And that's not nothing. But I keep thinking it could have been so much... more... than it is.

We were overdue for for someone to spice up the BR formula by adding champs (unique characters), really. But these character designs... oof. The only one with dialogue that doesn't make me cringe is the robot, which I can accept if I try to think of his lines as an AI who does not actually understand this thing you meatbags call humor trying to be "funny." I know not every developer is going to be as good at character design as Blizzard (and the last few new Overwatch heroes strongly indicate even they're running out of ideas) but if all they could come up with was stuff this annoying and one-note I wish they had just made them generic "classes" instead of trying to make them "people."

It's funny. I always felt/said stuff about the delay in PUBG. I still do in escape from tarkov. Love this guy's video's. However, both of the last two very well may be true. However, Apex/Blackout feel like such a smaller network delay than Pubg/RoE. Not sure if it's the TTK but i'm never mad or feel cheated.

Twitch Prime members get a new epic level skin for Pathfinder and 5 Apex packs for linking your Twitch Prime account. All platforms.

Also, new gun out today. The Havoc. It uses energy ammo, so now that will be even more scarce. I assume people are talking about this somewhere else, or it would have been posted.

Quote is not edit...

Mmm, looks interesting!
