Of course I'll be there.

Oh you know I'm there, too. Gonna be bunking with Obi again. Getting in that Thursday afternoon.

I actually need to poke my head into BoardGameGeek and see what the heck is even out there. I am pretty sure I haven't even touched a board game since last TNGD. Well, one game of Chaos in the Old World but that's about it.

Do y'all have any recommendations to keep an eye out for? I think I'm looking for more of the light and quick games like Azul/Sagrada.

You know me, I’m up for whatever.

I played a little Dragoon at PAX South and enjoyed it, but wanted to play it another time or two. Anyone else had experience with this one? It seems like a lot of fun even after many playthroughs.

I think it's relatively recent, but it does already have an expansion.

Cap'n, the con's grown a lot since last you were here. There's a ton of stuff for all flavors, for sure.

For my part, I'll likely want to get a couple big'uns in (probably a Lacerda game and maybe a Splotter game) but am otherwise largely happy with some easier stuff. Been enjoying things like Knizia's El Dorado, Nmbr 9, The Mind, Ethnos, Reef (Azul sequel-ish), Glass Road, Photosynthesis, Yokohama, The Estates...all good things.

Pst....... He was there last year.

no no, let him have this. He only took us out to lunch and dinner a few times. It'd be easy to forget. XD

I think the problem is that you didn’t do hot chicken last time.

I will do hot chicken this time.

People bleeding out their nose after eating Hot Chicken is a favorite story of mine.

We could switch it up this time, and do a breakfast of hot chicken and waffles one morning.

Why not both?

I’m glad to be providing a service.

I...um.....

[I just searched for like 5 minutes to find a good GIF of Deb running away in Napoleon Dynamite but came up empty-handed.]

T-minus three weeks! Yaaaaay!

Anyone have anything in particular they want to play?

Root!

Your mom goes to college!

We can def. get Root to the table, Trichy.

For my part, I'd love to get some combo of the following:

  • Splotter Spellen games
  • Vital Lacerda (especially Lisboa or The Gallerist)
  • Maybe a COIN?
  • Lowlands
  • Galaxy Trucker?
  • Treasure Island
  • our normal fun suite of dexterity games, winner's circle, etc.

Oooooh, add Lowlands, Treasure Island, and Lisboa/Gallerist to my list.

I'd be down with some Root and Treasure Island. Lowlands is high on the list for many of the Huntsville Crew coming up, so that'll be easy to make. Galaxy Trucker is always good.

Edit: Oh, and I'd love a big round of Decrypto.

No one has Gloomhaven right?

Bringing my little brother along this time. He's skeptical that this is going to be tons of fun, but totally up for some hot chicken (prides himself on his abilities to consume hot foot). He said he prefers simple games, but I'd bet we can ease him into something interesting, and he'll love crokinole... might even build a board.

Haven't settled on when I'll swing in. Might do Friday afternoon/ Saturday.... or might try to hit a Captain Marvel matinee. Can't really stay for Sunday.

Are we doing a channel on the discord server or something else to coordinate?

Didn't we do Slack last year? I can't remember.

I think so? Slack would be easiest for me, but I'm happy to abide by the will of the majority. (Last year there was an official TGD slack team and we created a private channel inside of it)

OKAY. Here are the things I am considering bringing. I can't bring all of them, so I would love your opinions: either "Hey, I have that and could bring it" or "I'm not really into it." Also, I live right down the street so if we want to swap out occasionally that's possible.

Planning to bring at some point:

  • Arkwright
  • Arboretum
  • Root
  • Lisboa/The Gallerist (whichever the crowd prefers; I kinda like LIsboa better but they're both great and Gallerist is a bit easier to grasp)
  • Keyflower
  • Alchemists
  • Glass Road
  • Railroad Ink
  • Treasure Island

Might bring but likely to have copies there already:

  • Captain Sonar
  • Yokohama
  • Ethnos
  • Reef
  • Orleans
  • Something Splotter Spellen (a man can dream, can't he...)
  • Princes of Florence
  • El Dorado
  • EL GRANDEEEEEEE

Could be talked into bringing:

  • Archipelago (personal favorite but nobody else ever wants to play)
  • Flamme Rouge
  • Photosynthesis
  • Brass Birmingham
  • Reef
  • FlipShips
  • Clans of Caledonia (I really love this one)
  • Heaven & Ale
  • Lignum
  • ...anything else you see here.

Bring Brass Birmingham! It's stupid good. Also, I can teach that and probably Arkwright. And I'm ALWAYS down for some Archipelago.

Also, I saw that the library has Quacks of Quedlinburg. If anyone is interested, I'd love to get that one to the table.

+ 1 for Root, Glass Road, "The" Grande, and Tobago. FYI, I've already brought Treasure Island & El Dorado, although multiple copies never hurt. Honestly, most of those sound super awesome.

I haven't played photosynthesis yet, but I assume that will be in the library.

(Ugh slack... yet another chat app... lol... at least groupme and discord are already on my phone...) But I too will bow to the majority.

Will be hitting the hotel around 10.

Did it even happen?
