BabyMonster - Clik Clak
Not sure what I was expecting from this first song off their new album but this kinda hit me from left field (in a good way). I don't know if this one will make my top ten but I'm sure more curious about what the rest of the album sounds like after listening to it.
Speaking of coming from left field, Karina from aespa was on the Lee Mujin Service singing show on Youtube, and I was really taken aback with her singing and choice of songs. After I watched it, I almost felt like I haven't even really heard her sing before in this way, and was thinking 'it's a shame she is in a group with two other strong vocalists, that it's never been necessary for her to really show what she's got.' It made me wonder how many other groups out there have strong but hidden vocalists that we never get to see because of the size of the group and the relative talents of their other members. Anyway, check it out if you haven't yet:
Happy Throwback Thursday everyone! Hope you're having a good week. It's been a big one for new releases; speaking of which...
Jamie - Bad Luck
This one is...okay? The video is nothing; I hesitate to even call it a performance video. I guess the budget is running tight these days. The song is fine, but I'm not really feeling it too much either. I was really hoping for more as I've enjoyed several previous releases from Jamie.
There's at least one more new release coming up tomorrow to round out the week, but for now let's get into the throwback. I was thinking about a topic some folks might consider a bit distasteful; the sponsored song/MV. We've seen it recently with IVE and Pepsi and I suppose one could consider some of the League of Legends musical outings as sponsored songs, not to mention artists literally recording the opening theme to some random mobile game or what have you. I guess in the end it always falls back on the quality of the song; some of those K/DA tracks are pretty great so I'm more inclined to give them a pass. Anyway, I remembered the first time I realized the MV I was watching was a sponsored song. Way back in 2009, to promote a cell phone, Girls' Generation released this little ditty; please attempt to enjoy it while willfully turning a blind eye to the horrors of capitalism. Happy Halloween!
Girls' Generation - Chocolate Love
I don't think I mentioned it here yet... I'm going to see Dreamcatcher in Chicago next Wednesday. It'll be my first Kpop concert. I'm excited

I'm excited for you! You'll have to give us the full run-down afterwards. But wait, I think I hear something. It kinda sounds like a....
NEW MUSIC ALERT!!!
Kep1er - Tipi-Tap

BabyMonster - Drip
Happy Throwback Thursday! We had a lot of great new releases this week already, and also I know there's a certain someone who is recovering from seeing Dreamcatcher yesterday, so hopefully everyone else out there had a good week as well. Let's get right into the throwback; this is a group that I still have a lot of fondness for even though they never really broke big when they were active. I saw on Instagram recently that a few of the members had met up and it was really great to know that they're still in touch with one another. Anyway, this song is one of my favorites from their catalog; it's got some great catchy bits, the outfits are fire, and the video is minimal without looking half-assed. Please enjoy!
Dalshabet - B.B.B.
This one flew a bit under the radar; former Girls' Generation member Sooyoung dropped her Japanese solo MV at the end of October. Why is it Japanese? I don't know! Watch it anyway!
Sooyoung - Unstoppable

Yes, recovering from the concert and other events of last week...
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from a live Kpop concert, but it was a great time overall. I was near the center middle of the Chicago Theater venue, so not super close, but close enough to have a clear view of everything. They performed for nearly 3 hours in total, with maybe 20 minutes of that being talking and interacting with the audience. There was a lot of dancing for the first 40 minutes, then much more sporadic from then on. I was surprised they never ran out of breath after the dance heavy start.
My brother joined me for the concert. He's not familiar with Dreamcatcher or Kpop beyond random songs he's heard around me from time to time, but he's always open to new experiences. I learned after that his only hesitation in coming was that he thought we were going to be two dudes in their thirties in a sea of teenage girls In reality, the audience was quite diverse with almost as many people in the 40+ range as teenagers and a pretty even gender split. He said he had a good time and would definitely be down to go to more concerts like that.
They performed new arrangements of The Curse of the Spider and Deja Vu (my favorite DC song), which was very exciting. My other favorite performance was probably Reason. I love that song, and it hits super hard live. Seeing them live also really clarifies how strong DC is vocally as a whole. Siyeon and Yoohyeon were great as expected, but I was very pleasantly surprised by how good SuA sounded in person.
The two other things that really surprised me were the merch lines and the crowd noise. It felt like more than half the venue was in the merch line when we came into the theater. It seemed to move quickly at least. The crowd noise was wild. I've never heard more screaming at a concert in my life. It was fun, but I did get slightly annoyed that I couldn't ever hear Siyeon finish her high notes because the fans would scream so loudly when she hit them.
In summary, it was very fun. Would go again
Happy Throwback Thursday! And thanks to Tscott for posting so many new releases today. I really liked the new Yves track! However, I think there might be even more...
ILLIT - Tick-Tack
We also got a surprise release for the anniversary of a now disbanded group:
Lovelyz - November (When I Touch You)
-----------------------------
Whew! Now that those are out of the way, let's get into the throwback. In celebration of the reunion of Lovelyz, I thought I'd throw back to their first single off of their debut album, now 10 years old. Please enjoy!
Lovelyz - Candy Jelly Love
MEOVV - Toxic

tripleS ∞ - Untitled
Happy Throwback Thursday! It snowed here; I was enjoying fall but now I guess it's time to gear up for winter. I hope you had a great week and maybe you still have a bit more autumn left wherever you are; be sure to make the most of it and maybe start your considerations for your top ten list at the end of the year.
We're mostly caught up on new releases; the only thing I could find was this performance video from MEOVV:
MEOVV - Body (Performance Video)
---------------------------------
Let's get to our throwback for this week. This group has put out some of my favorite videos, and this one is no exception. I don't really know why they made a whole song and video around this theme, but they totally commit to it. Costumes, sets, fight scenes, stuntwork: the whole nine yards. Check it out (and if you haven't seen the movies, maybe check them out too)!
Brown Eyed Girls - Kill Bill
ICHILLIN - Official
izna - IZNA (self titled)
Happy Throwback Thursday everyone! Hope you're having a great day today. I'm doing some meal prepping today so I'm gonna keep it brief and jump right into the throwback, but if there's any new releases I've missed I'm confident someone will post about them. This song is a bit of a sad one, I guess, but it makes me think of winter when I watch it which seems appropriate (currently sitting at 22° F this morning!), probably because of the color palette of the MV more than anything else (also the snow at the end, obv). But the song is a good one, so I hope you enjoy it.
And thanks for sharing your kpop experiences here, I really appreciate it.
Girls' Day - I Miss You
NiziU - Always
Chung Ha - Sleigh
Happy Throwback Thursday y'all! I'm feeling pretty good today so hopefully you're doing good as well. We've got a big day tomorrow with releases from Rosé and Twice, so I'm looking forward to that. But right now I have a little Christmas bonus track before we get into our throwback:
U-Chae - You Are My Christmas
----------------------------
Okay, let's jump into our throwback. This is something I stumbled across while poking around Youtube, it's a collab between Hyolyn, who I'm sure you already know, and JooYoung, a solo artist who joined Starship in 2014. This song is JooYoung's first release under Starship (and most popular) and he has a songwriting credit on it in addition to his performance. Unfortunately his mandatory military enlistment started the next year and he never quite peaked more than with this track, but his credits down the line include collabs, features, and songwriting credits with artists such as Giriboy, Mad Clown, Kisum, Heize, and Hyolyn again on her song 'Layin' Low'. Anyway, check it out!
Hyolyn x JooYoung - Erase (feat. Iron)
Rosé - Toxic till the End

Twice - Strategy (feat. Megan Thee Stallion)
