Kpop music thread. Stan talent, Stan-all.

Here's a couple new songs to start the week off. Both impressed me as possibly the best each group has done so far.

PRIMROSE - Freyja

WOOAH - Pom Pom Pom

Kwon EunBi is back with a new song. I'm really liking it on first listen.

KWON EUNBI - SABOTAGE

And Everglow always have some great b-sides and they prove that still holds true with this dance practice video:

EVERGLOW - COLOURZ Dance Practice

Liking COLOURZ a lot more than Zombie. Maybe a 2024 Top Ten contender? That sax is pretty great...

Okay, more new music!

Rolling Quartz - Victory

So many good releases lately and it's not slowing down...

H1-KEY - Let It Burn

Surprise! Another video for a song from aespa's Armageddon album.

aespa - Live My Life

Happy Throwback Thursday everyone! Lots of new releases this week, but I think we're caught up so I'm gonna jump right in. This one is a real fun one, and it feels like a bit of a cross between Orange Caramel and Wonder Girls (maybe leaning more towards the O.C. side). Please enjoy!

Ladies' Code - Kiss Kiss

Newjeans - Supernatural

Part 1?

New Music Alert!

tripleS GLOW - Inner Dance

--------------------

Purple Kiss - Heart Attack

Red Velvet - Cosmic

Beautiful (mid)summery song. An EP with the title track and 5 b-sides is now out too. I can't wait to dive into this.

Just got done watching the video; I was about 3/4 of the way through when I remembered your post and thought 'heh, that was a good one'.

A Red Velvet release one day, then a Chuu release the next! How did I get to be so lucky?

CHUU - Strawberry Rush

I love this song, and it is very "Chuu"- like it's the most Chuu thing that Chuu has ever done. There's a Strawberry Rush EP out now too with 3 new b-sides on it, plus the previously released Chocolate and Chocolate (English Version).

Craxy - Stupidz

I dunno about this one, I like some of the dance stuff but the song itself is kinda...meh. Nothing's really grabbing me. Feels like they're spinning their wheels a bit.

--------------------
Gyubin - Satellite

Pretty good, but not as catchy as her debut track. Her vocals get to shine more with this song, though. Wish the chorus had a better hook.

I like it, except the "Pid! Pid! Pid!" parts. That's just a personal pet peeve of mine though, and I can get over it. But, I've been hoping that Nugudom would lead to them getting out the the nugu-realm, but I don't this follow up is going to continue that momentum.

Happy Throwback Thursday everyone! We've been awash in the flood of new releases lately, but I think we're caught up right now so I'm gonna jump straight into it. I'm going off the beaten path a bit this time; mayhap you recall a certain song that was very virally popular back in the day by the name of 'Gangnam Style'? So titanic was it's impact that Psy was able to ride the wave of it for quite some time, and this song collaboration was almost certainly made possible from it's success. Please enjoy!

Psy - Hangover

LISA - ROCKSTAR

This came through my Youtube suggestions. I thought Youngji was more of a rapper but I was pleasantly surprised by this MV.

Lee Youngji - Small Girl (feat. Doh Kyungsoo)

We interrupt your regularly scheduled thread for this message from Pepsi...

IVE - SUMMER FESTA

And now some K-pop-adjacent releases.

Here's KATSEYE, a group under the HYBE label. Formed from a reality show featuring contestants from around the world and operating out of LA according to their wiki page. They have an EP coming out in August, and just released their debut single, DEBUT.

KATSEYE - DEBUT

And another new song from AleXa channeling some 2000s pop-punk vibes.

AleXa - Distraction

NEW MUSIC ALERT!!

Kiss of Life - Sticky

-----------------------
Babymonster - Forever

----------------------------
DALsooobin - Muck

STAYC have released a full album of 14 songs, Metamorphic. Here's the title track:

STAYC - Cheeky Icy Thang

And here's a b-side from Chuu's Strawberry Rush EP:

Chuu - Honeybee

Cheeze - We Were Held By The Sea

Yes! A new song from Lee Chaeyeon. I love it, except (like so many other songs lately) it's just a touch too short.

LEE CHAE YEON - Don't

Also, aespa are continuing to kill it with every song they release. This time it's their Japanese release, Hot Mess.

aespa - Hot Mess

VVUP - Ain't Nobody

I'm really liking this one; it's high energy! Also gotta second that new Lee Chaeyeon song, I think this might be the first release of hers that I've immediately vibed with.

Happy Throwback Thursday; also, it's the 4th of July here in the US so happy Independence Day to those who are celebrating! It's a bit grey out where I'm at currently though, but I guess that won't affect a fireworks show very much once it gets dark.

We've been absolutely packed with new releases lately (not that I'm complaining); I was looking over my list today and I feel like I already have a Top Ten for the year locked in and we're only halfway through 2024. It'll take a lot to crack that list, but who knows what we have in store for the last half of the year. I'm excited to find out. Speaking of which, there's a new video from CSR that just dropped; it looks like their release a few weeks ago (Pretty Mob) was a pre-release so here's the new one from their Japanese EP that just dropped.

CSR - Higher

Anyway, on to the throwback; this one is another song from Secret! It seems like they only have two modes for their MVs; either super-cute or sexy-as-hell. I always found the first type to be a bit cringy, tbh; they never managed to strike the tone that groups like Apink or Lovelyz were pulling off. The sexy ones were also a bit hard/weird to watch in a different way, but at least I like the songs from those videos more than the first type. Please enjoy! And minimize the browser if you must.

Secret - I'm In Love

A summer song from (G)I-DLE:

(G)I-DLE - Klaxon

And TAEYEON wants to take us to Heaven (!!!):

TAEYEON - Heaven

Weeekly - Lights On

Dreamcatcher - JUSTICE

OMG. I think my list of favorite songs of 2024 just got a shake up.

I'm so glad that I'm enjoying Justice so much after being a bit disappointed with OOTD.

Siyeon is sadly skipping the promotion cycle this time because of some health and anxiety issues, but it has been fun to see Sua and other members covering her high adlibs during live performances.

Happy Throwback Thursday! I forgot to post this morning before work but there's still an hour of Thursday left so I'm still good, right?

It's...it's really great. I think it will definitely be a contender at the end of the year. My top ten is really strong right now, but there's at least one on there that might be overtaken by this song. I'll see how I feel in a few months.

But we're caught up on new releases (I think) so it's time for #tbt! This one is from KARA, and it's the first MV released after Jiyoung and Nicole left the group and their new member, Youngji, was added. I really like this song; it has a prominent and funky bassline, and I really feel energized after listening to it. A toe-tapper, if you will. Also, as far as I know it doesn't have anything to do with ABBA, in case you were wondering. Please enjoy!

KARA - Mamma Mia

NiziU - Rise Up

this next one is a few days old; I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet!

Twice - Dive

For some reason Japanese releases don't always hit my radar.

Sort of like Youtube hasn't learned that because of my love for Mamamoo it should recommend me new songs by Whee-In. I found this posted on Reddit, or I would've missed it:

Whee-In - Coco Water
