Let's Kill This Love:
First kpop girl group to ever top U.S. itunes and first girl group at all to do it in the last ten years. Pretty impressive how big Blackpink has become.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. I really like the song and the video. Blackpink has had a strong international appeal from the start, but I think this song is going to expand that reach even further. As much as I enjoyed Ddu-Du Ddu-Du, it could come off as cringey to non-Kpop fans. Kill This Love sounds like something meant to appeal to a global audience from the start. It's very Ariana Grande at parts with the flow, specifically Jisoo and Rose's lines.
And that Jennie/Lisa duo verse in the middle is amazing.
There’s a new English translation for a BTS video. I don’t speak Korean but I think the translation is pretty spot on.
I’m here! In fact I did know about it and I find it pretty adorable, though I also have kids the right age that this kind of stuff is in my house all the time. But thanks for making sure!
It actually isn’t the first kid-oriented thing Momoland has done. I found this Korean alphabet video somewhere along the way:
Tscott wrote:They now have the most viewed Kpop video in the first 24 hours with Kill This Love with somewhere between 47-50 million views (official number still to be determined). They beat out BTS Idol which had 45.9 million views in the first day. And they're the second most highest video in general on Youtube for views in 24 hours- only Ariana Grande's Thank U, Next is higher. It got 55.4 mill. (Source)
Looks like Youtube finally confirmed the official numbers for views in 24 hours, and they were even more than expected. "“Kill This Love” officially reached 56.7 million views in its first 24 hours, surpassing the previous record of 55.4 million views set by Ariana Grande’s “Thank u, next” last November."
Also, they are the fastest to reach 100 million views as well. "At approximately 2:15 p.m. KST on April 7, BLACKPINK’s latest music video for “Kill This Love” hit 100 million views on YouTube, taking two days, 14 hours, and 15 minutes to reach this number."
I read they also had over 900,000 unique viewers during the premier, which is also a record.
... and boy did it piss off a lot of people in the kpop reddit sub.
Really? I don’t reddit. So I’m curious why, but also think maybe it’d be better not knowing.
I can’t say I know the specific reasons myself other than some weird “Stan” culture fan wars bs and a big portion of that subreddit think the attention Blackpink get is undeserved. I mostly just visit for news.
BTS comeback is April 12, featuring Halsey:

You are. If I'm being honest, I also think the popularity of Blackpink relative to other similar GGs is a little strange, but also, good for them. I will never understand why people get upset about it.
I'm finding the React to the K channel really quite good. The latest:
It's referencing this song, which at first blush seems like it should be right up my alley, but it's just not connecting with me yet. Never heard of DreamNote, either. I'm thinking to give it a couple more listens today just to see.
I had a feeling they were going to top the view record that Blackpink just nabbed, but damn. They're going to crush it. They're at 49 million views after 12 hours. That's insane.
I really like the song. It's my favorite title track of theirs in quite a while. It's kinda weird that Halsey has such limited singing time in the video, but the audio version has much more of her, and it's better for it. She has the whole first course and even sings some in Korean. I have no idea why they didn't just use that version for the video too. Her voice fits the song so well.
Honestly, my first impression is it’s my least liked BTS song. Bound to happen eventually I guess.
Boy with Luv is a really light sound, doesn't really do it for me. If you want something more gritty from their comeback album, try Dionysus & Intro. I also like HOME.

Oh, and another good one
Oh I checked back. How’d you know what was coming?

HOME is great too. Boy with Luv is definitely a lighter, poppier sound than most of their other stuff, but I'm loving it. Their 24-hour YouTube record now stands at 74.6 million Despite the lack of love for it here, it's doing phenomenally elsewhere, even compared to their last few title tracks. Their SNL performance of it with a live band was great too.
If you like Dionysus, you need to see the comeback stage for it.
Even in the shadow of Blackpink, BTS, and Twice all releasing comebacks in the same month, I've found a few newer releases that I like.
Everglow - Bon Bon Chocolat (linked earlier in the thread)
CLC - Like It
SHAUN - Bad Habits
SHAUN - She Is
This song from DIA has been stuck in my head. It reminds me of a 2nd-gen K-pop song, like a lost T-ara track.
I've never been able to get into any GOT7 proper songs, but I love this track from their new subunit.
Some really good stuff in the past few posts. I’m finding lots of good songs to add to my lists. I think Twice is going to end up as my second favorite group. Fitting since it was also the second group I found after Momoland.
And does this mean I'm going to stan BTS now?
Hah! It's a good cover of some great choreo. It's pretty cool to see how LOONA makes adjustments to fit all of the girls smoothly into the routine. I enjoy checking out dance practices for most groups, but I'm a big fan of the style used here: well-lit and utilizing a camera person that knows when and where to move to make the dance more exciting.
It's the same reason I love it when groups release performance versions of their music videos, like BTS Fire, NCT 7th Sense, or Red Velvet Power Up. GFriend is one of the only groups to consistently release performance versions of their MVs, like Rough and Fingertip. I wish other groups would do this more often.

Fancy is my favorite Twice comeback in quite a while. I've typically only enjoyed their title tracks, but the new album, Fancy You, has some great B-sides. Give it a listen.
Twice is by far the highest selling girl group in KPOP they've eclipsed every other girl group by far. I don't get it but there it is. Fancy is a more mature sound but not unsurprising given they've been around for a while now. They're old compared to IZ'ZONE lol.
From what I understand BTS choreography is frequently used for dance training in many groups.
Another RttK discovery. Quite like the vibe.
