Yeah, Shadow Play was completely off my radar. I agree, it’s better than Lemon Candy, but not enough for me either. Fantasy will remain the only of their songs I’ve bought.
The Rain-JYP video was good. Thanks for posting it
New comebacks this week for Dreamcatcher on the 26th, IU on the 27th, and Hyuna on the 28th.
Everglow just performed a relay version of Kara's Mister:
which reminded me that Dreamcatcher's relay version of Brown Eyed Girls' Abracadabra was never posted here:
Treasure - My Treasure:
This is the first Treasure comeback I've enjoyed since Going Crazy, their pre-release single. I still don't like it nearly as much as that song, but I'm glad they're doing something closer to that style again.
Victon - Flip A Coin
Hynn - With and Without You
I'm not normally a big ballad person, but wow, what a voice.
Oh yeah, Hynn has an amazing voice, and quite a few really good songs.
My favorites:
Bad Love - If nothing else, check out her vocal power from about 2:25 to the end.
When I tell you goodbye
A few more I found while searching that I'm eager to give a listen myself.
Let me out
한 번만 내 마음대로 하자
The Lonely Bloom Stands Alone
Oh yeah, Hynn has an amazing voice, and quite a few really good songs.
The Lonely Bloom Stands Alone
Oh, I love this song. I have heard covers of it before, but never the original. Power vocals indeed.
One more to watch:
No released date yet, but it looks like it's going to be more than just a solo track. Rose has such a unique voice. I'm very curious to hear some solo stuff from her.
Well, the community GOTY list just went up, so I'll use that as motivation to stop procrastinating on posting a 2020 list for this thread I'll only embed videos that haven't been linked in the thread yet.

Oh, man, I am excited for that. I don't follow BP news all that closely, so this is the first I'm hearing of it. I quite like her voice, so I think this is great.
list
Wow, that's quite the list! It's going to take me some time to parse through, but I'm eager to see what I've missed. I actually wrote up my own end of the year stuff, but never got around to cleaning it up and hunting down all the links. Going to do it, though. You and Tscott's lists got me eager to get mine up, too.
Dreamcatcher - Odd Eye
Yay! It's good. I think a few more listens and I'll be sold on it. Though, I may be more eager for the B-sides.
Every time I tried to put together a top 10 list for 2020, it felt strange to condense the year into a traditional list. So, like others, I’m going with a nontraditional approach.
Momoland Song of the Year
Momoland is my ultimate group by an enormous margin. It wouldn’t be fair to any of the other songs or artists to include Momoland in anything but their own category.
Thumbs Up (Technically Dec 30, 2019)
Tiki Taka
Starry Night
Ready or Not
Merry Go Round
거울 속 나
Winner - Merry Go Round
I absolutely love this song. Merry Go Round is Momoland’s fandom name, which makes it all the more personal and touching. But it’s the sentiment of the music and lyrics that really sets this song apart for me.
Runner Up - Ready or Not
The song is fun and peppy, exactly what I hoped it would be. Maybe it’s just recency bias, but I really think this is the strongest Momoland release since Baam.
Song of the Summer
Regardless of actual release dates, the summer’s best song has a strong beat, a catchy tune, and the potential for endless repeats.
Helicopter - CLC
Yessir - 3YE
DUMDi-DUMdi - G Idle
Red Moon - Kard
Into the I-Land - IU
Winner - DUMDi-DUMDi
Everything about this song, from the opening beat to the chorus, to the music video, exemplifies the perfect summer song.
Runner Up - Into the I-Land
I think it’s actually the anthem for a survival show, but this song stayed with me throughout the year. It’s play count may be less than other songs, but I never skipped past when it started to play.
Endless Repeat
These are the songs I could put on solo-repeat for days on end.
Winter Flower - Younha
Hello - Sohyang
9LIVES - Hyolyn
Fate - Paradise
Winner - Winter Flower
From the moment I first listened, I knew this song would end up on my year-end list. Simultaneously haunting and hopeful, it’s the perfect song for the frequent complexity of my inner moods.
Runner Up - 9LIVES
While it’s not quite as powerful and moving as last year’s youknowbetter, but this song is excellent in its own right, with a music video every bit as amazing.
Surprise B-sides
The songs I might have missed, except I bought the whole album—only to find a new favorite further down the track list.
Can’t Get You Out of My Mind - Dreamcatcher
No Good Reason - Everglow
You Taught Me Love - VAV
Hold Tight - VAV
More - K/DA
Wildfire - Taeyeon
Winner - You Taught Me Love
I found this song and its companion, Hold Tight, at the absolute perfect time. I was working through some heavy emotions and these songs lifted me and carried me through a crucial threshold.
Runner Up - Can’t Get You Out of My Mind
Arguably one of the most atypical Dreamcatcher songs, but it hooked me, quickly becoming the highlight of the album.
Misc. Highlights
Favorite Cover - Gracie Abrams ‘21’ (cover by AHIN)
Surprise Debut - Eyes on You - Hayeon
Honorable Mentions
Hero - Lim Young Woong
Dive - Jung Jin Woo
Spring - Lee Daerowang
Unfamiliar - H&D
Whale - Sejeong
Sounds like a great concert. Business model sucks though. Especially the extra content only being offered once. Ugh.
KCON had something similar for their recent concerts—basically after the actual “live” concerts, just a 24h live stream of the few days of concerts and events to fill out the month. I did not like it that way—too hard to catch the groups I actually wanted to see. Eventually, after a Korean regulation group approved, the on demand videos went up, but only with a couple days to spare unless you wanted to keep the sub for a second month.
In the end, I didn’t sub at all for the second concert series KCON offered. It wasn’t worth the hassle.
tldr, I’ve been there too and it sucks.
Also, here's that Dreamcatcher comeback.
Yay I love the video, but I wish the subtitles were a little better done. They look almost auto translated in parts, which is not a problem I remember with their previous songs. The whole Dystopia: Road to Utopia mini album is great. My front runner for favorite b-side so far is probably Poison Love.
Relay dance for Odd Eye, despite the fact that they probably spend half the performance not in a line

Nice list Looking at all three of our lists, it's clear the girl group bias held strong in 2020.
I've thought about linking Sohyang here before, but I've only ever listened to her live performances that don't really fall within the realm of K-pop. Have you heard any of them? She's one of the best live vocalists I've ever heard. I've probably watched this performance more than a dozen times:
If you like that, she has a ton of other incredible live performances. My favorites are Everyone and her rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Here's Hyuna's latest:
Probably not one I'm going to be listening to all that much, but it's a fun watch.
And (G)I-dle released an English version for Hwaa. It sounds surprisingly good in English.
On the other hand, everything that BiBi releases I really enjoy.
Same here. Definitely my favorite newly discovered artist from last year.

Oh! I've not heard any of those. Hello is the only one of hers I've heard, so I can't wait to give those a listen. They're on my queue ready for a break at work.
I watched I'm not Cool and Eat My Love and I think they're both a miss for me. I'm not even sure what to make of I'm not Cool at all. Bibi's song I at least get, even though it didn't do anything much for me.
EDIT: Okay! So, I just listened to Arirang Alone. Oh. My. That was so good. I'm floored, and I just want that on my phone right away. I'm listening again before I even move on to more So Hyang. Dyni, spot on excellent share... I'll take any more like that you find! Loved it.

That was my reaction the first time I stumbled across that performance as well. Glad you liked it.
Definitely check out the Everyone and Bridge Over Troubled Water performances I linked above if you haven't yet. I really like Fate and Hug Me. She also has incredible covers of You Raise Me Up and more recently, I Will Always Love You. Just in searching for these videos, I'm noticing that she has a bunch of new performances from the last few months, including a few where it looks like she might be singing with Lee Hi and Suhyun? Gonna have to check those out!
Those are some amazing performances! You Raise Me Up in particular was so good!
BIBI song from December that I completely missed. I think it's called D-day, but I'm not entirely sure:
Mamamoo Japanese single - Just Believe In Love:
Not an official comeback, but new song and video from IZ*ONE - D-D-Dance:
It's a re-upload because it looks like the full video was released exclusively on a new app called Universe. 1thK only has a clip through the first chorus. I hope that isn't a trend we can expect going forward.
And Dreamcatcher released a performance video for Odd Eye, but I'm pretty disappointed by it There are so many camera cuts and flashing lights that it's distracting. They didn't even show the high kick in the last chorus! I'm not sure what the editors were thinking because their previous performance videos have all been so good. I enjoyed watching the dance practice much more.
Purplekiss - Can We Talk Again
So Hyang and Shin Yong Jae - How can I love the heartbreak (AKMU) cover
Monoland x Chromance - Wrap Me In Plastic
From what I read, it sounded like Chromance reached out to Momoland specifically for this collaboration, to take the song and make a Korean version.
Genuine question, what percentage of K-Pop artists are American ex-pats or dual citizenship holders? Because I feel like I've encountered quite a few English-language interviews with K-Pop groups where one or two members sound like they're from San Diego or something.
I think a bunch are actually from Australia.
So Hyang and Shin Yong Jae - How can I love the heartbreak (AKMU) cover
I've been slowly chipping away at a bunch of those performances from Beginagainkorea. There are many great ones from So Hyang, as well as from Suhyun, Lee Hi, and some great male performers I was not familiar with.
Here's another new song I wasn't expecting.
aespa - Forever
In typical SM fashion, they all have wonderful voices. I didn't really care for Black Mamba, but I'm definitely interested to see what they do next.

Like Tscott mentioned, quite a few have picked up English from studying or living abroad for a number of years, but I'm not familiar with too many Americans in Kpop groups. The only ones I can think of are Tiffany Young and Jessica Jung from Girls Generation, both of whom were born and raised in California and scouted by SM to become Kpop trainees.
Chungha will drop her comeback tomorrow. Let's prepare with a new Showterview:
Edit: Whoops, drops on the 15th, not tomorrow.
Edit: Blackpink Lisa just dropped this. It's much more highly produced than her other dance videos.
It's a stunning video visually, but that's probably my least favorite title track from Chung Ha. It sounds like an NCT song. I wonder why she went with this as the title track, considering Stay Tonight, Play, and Dream of You were all pre-release singles. I also find it a bit funny that such a blatantly sex-charged song has to use the word "frickin".
Edit: Wow, 21 tracks on the full album. It looks like four are 1 min interludes, but that's still big. I'll have to give that a listen sometime this week.
