Yeah around when Jennie's solo song, Solo, got released there was much talk about solo songs coming out for the other members "soon". Then a year or more went by and everyone was complaining that YG was doing their typical YG thing and keeping everything locked in their dungeon. Looking forward to Rose's solo, and Lisa's which should be coming sometime too (hopefully this year), but I'm most excited about the possibility of a Jisoo solo song- I think she could shock a lot of people with the right song choice. But I think Jisoo has been busy with acting lately so I don't know if a solo song for her is even close to being a thing yet.

I paid for and watched Blackpink's "The Show" last night.
The good: all 4 of them were incredible throughout. Jisoo's vocals were amazing. Liza's raps were fire. Rose debuted her solo song and it was great. Jennie presented a new mix of her song, Solo, with a new rap, and she was the fiercest I've ever seen her. Also, it's always great to hear them backed by a live band. It gives everything a new edge. And they performed Love to Hate Me/You Never Know together. They are the two songs that close out "The Album" and are maybe my favorite tracks, and have the most personal lyrics that Blackpink has ever put to song. These two songs were my favorite moment and I hope they release that performance someday.
The bad: No video on demand. When I paid for the membership on their Youtube channel, it said that membership content would be available until 2/17, so I thought I'd be able to rewatch the concert on demand over the next two and half weeks. But instead it's just being replayed 8 times, 4 times next Saturday and 4 times the Saturday after that. I also paid for the "plus" option, which gave access to behind the scenes content- but that was a dress rehearsal that was streamed once on Friday night and I don't think will be streamed again. I missed it on Friday, so I paid $10 extra and didn't get a chance to see the extra content.
Sounds like a great concert. Business model sucks though. Especially the extra content only being offered once. Ugh.
KCON had something similar for their recent concerts—basically after the actual “live” concerts, just a 24h live stream of the few days of concerts and events to fill out the month. I did not like it that way—too hard to catch the groups I actually wanted to see. Eventually, after a Korean regulation group approved, the on demand videos went up, but only with a couple days to spare unless you wanted to keep the sub for a second month.
In the end, I didn’t sub at all for the second concert series KCON offered. It wasn’t worth the hassle.
tldr, I’ve been there too and it sucks.

Yay I love the video, but I wish the subtitles were a little better done. They look almost auto translated in parts, which is not a problem I remember with their previous songs. The whole Dystopia: Road to Utopia mini album is great. My front runner for favorite b-side so far is probably Poison Love.

I've thought about linking Sohyang here before, but I've only ever listened to her live performances that don't really fall within the realm of K-pop. Have you heard any of them? She's one of the best live vocalists I've ever heard. I've probably watched this performance more than a dozen times:

I watched I'm not Cool and Eat My Love and I think they're both a miss for me. I'm not even sure what to make of I'm not Cool at all. Bibi's song I at least get, even though it didn't do anything much for me.

Definitely check out the Everyone and Bridge Over Troubled Water performances I linked above if you haven't yet. I really like Fate and Hug Me. She also has incredible covers of You Raise Me Up and more recently, I Will Always Love You. Just in searching for these videos, I'm noticing that she has a bunch of new performances from the last few months, including a few where it looks like she might be singing with Lee Hi and Suhyun? Gonna have to check those out!

And Dreamcatcher released a performance video for Odd Eye, but I'm pretty disappointed by it 
There are so many camera cuts and flashing lights that it's distracting. They didn't even show the high kick in the last chorus! I'm not sure what the editors were thinking because their previous performance videos have all been so good. I enjoyed watching the dance practice much more.

This is a cover of a song from 2000 by Yoo Young-jin who's a longtime producer/writer for SM (He wrote Super Junior's Sorry, Sorry and Mr. Simple; Also SHINee's Lucifer; and had his hand in Girl's Generation's I Got a Boy, just to name a few). This wasn't the follow up I was expecting to Black Mamba, but I like it.
Also, I just want to say how crazy it is that Purple Kiss haven't officially debuted yet. I feel like I've been hearing about them for over a year on Twitter, they had a performance video a few months ago, and their latest video is supposedly still a "pre-debut" track with their actual title track coming out... soon?

I think a bunch are actually from Australia.
Many of the idols that speak English spent several years in the U.S. or Canada or Australia when they were young then moved back to South Korea. Wendy from Red Velvet lived in Canada and Minnesota before going back to audition. Chungha lived in Texas when she was younger. Etc. I've got no clue about dual citizenship, througout the industry though.
Lia, from Itzy, lived in Canada for a few years, but currently all members of Itzy have been working on being fluent in English- I'm not sure if any of them sound like they're from San Diego, but it's cute watching them communicate- especially if it's with kids asking them very pointed questions.

Like Tscott mentioned, quite a few have picked up English from studying or living abroad for a number of years, but I'm not familiar with too many Americans in Kpop groups. The only ones I can think of are Tiffany Young and Jessica Jung from Girls Generation, both of whom were born and raised in California and scouted by SM to become Kpop trainees.

Chungha - Bicycle
It's a stunning video visually, but that's probably my least favorite title track from Chung Ha. It sounds like an NCT song. I wonder why she went with this as the title track, considering Stay Tonight, Play, and Dream of You were all pre-release singles. I also find it a bit funny that such a blatantly sex-charged song has to use the word "frickin".
Edit: Wow, 21 tracks on the full album. It looks like four are 1 min interludes, but that's still big. I'll have to give that a listen sometime this week.
Bicycle is certainty more aggressive and less catchy than the other singles. I can see why it was given a video- it stands out from the rest of the album so it would seem strange to leave it as a b-side. I like it but it probably won't have the staying power of Play or Stay Tonight. But on the other hand I've been singing "Broom, broom, broom" alone in my apartment for the past day.
