Ask them which one is their bias and which is their bias wrecker and see if they’re shocked that you learned the lingo.

This is the video that started it all for me. For the past year and a half I've been soaking up all I could learn about Kpop because I watched this video and wanted to learn more about Blackpink and the Kpop genre. They're now the only Kpop group to have a video reach 1 BILLION views on Youtube. Only Kpop's solo artist Psy had done it before with his viral hits Gangnam Style and Gentleman.

Wow, that's pretty nuts. Good for them. I'm not at all surprised that that was the video to do it. Whistle is the song that got me into BP. It's still probably my favorite song of theirs.

As predicted, Riot's new song takes more of a hip-hop angle. It doesn't measure up to K/DA - POP/STARS for me, but it's still pretty great. I just wish Soyeon had a couple more bars.

Here's the live performance with some pretty killer stage effects.

I’ve been watching the teasers for this for about a week. I had really high hopes and it did not disappoint.

I love how Nature always throws in some wild element of techno into their title tracks and make it work.

Thanks for the intro. She has a great voice.

Hah, I just came here to link this. It's a weird song, and I couldn't help but laugh when the chorus started, but I kinda dig it. This is the first Nature song that I've checked out. I watched their previous three videos right after, and they're all pretty wild. This is my favorite:

I will definitely be keeping an eye on them from here on out. Also, their fandom name is 'Leaf' That alone almost makes me want to stan.

That's also my favorite track by Nature. I'm So Pretty is pretty good too. There's a first listen that ReacttotheK did of I'm So Pretty where they start to get so confused about where they are in the song- 'is this the chorus? pre-chorus? bridge? are we still in the verse?' It's kind of fun to watch people with a lot more music knowledge than I get confused by a song.

I gave their new full EP a listen yesterday and there's a few other interesting tracks there. First time for me listening to their b-sides. I'll probably download the full release soon.

I'm just going to point out my new avatar here, for obvious reasons.

I know I posted this song before, but it's a good reminder of Standing Egg

Standing Egg makes some of the most moving and powerful music videos I've ever come across. Artistic and emotional doesn't even begin to cover it. Turn on subtitles, and watch to the very end.

And this one really hits me close to home. Too close, perhaps.

I'm surprised this isn't already up. TScott is usually so fast on the draw

I thought this was a new group, but nope.

They released their debut mini album Gossip Girl on November 12, 2009. On October 27, 2016 the group was officially confirmed to disband after all members decided to not renew their contracts. In November 2019, the group was re-formed for their tenth anniversary.

Thanks for posting it. I did watch it a few times this morning- I really like it. But then I was fighting with itunes to sync the album to my ipod. Never got the chance to post here before needing to go to work.

Also...

who knows when we're getting another LOONA comeback, but here's another LOONA dance cover. This time they take on GOT7's Eclipse. This is like 3 videos in one- it starts out with the performance, then behind the scenes of LOONA being LOONA, and then a dance practice in their practice room which is similar to the other covers they released.

I hope we eventually get a video of just the dance practice - without the split-screen comparison that appears at the end.

New solo debut. I like a lot of it, but that rap felt out of place to me.

IU's new single just released. Beautiful song and video. I thought it was just going to be simple ballad, but it goes some places.

It's a direct continuation of this 8-year old MV:

You & I storyline, shamelessly stolen from a Youtube comment because the video description is bad:

Spoiler:

IU plays the role of a 19-year-old girl who inhabits her grandfather’s room full of different machinery and objects. Also in the room is a young boy (played by Lee Hyun Woo), who is in a deep slumber (Sleeping Beauty, anyone?). The boy would waken once the girl had become an adult (presumably 20 years old in Korea), and when she discovered her grandfather’s design, she began working hard to speed up time.
If you noticed, IU stepped into a train where it showed images of the future, of her and the boy sharing the same future, and became determined in creating something that would expedite the process. That something turned out to be the time machine in which IU stepped into, hoping to become an adult to meet the love of her life.

Unfortunately, that fateful day where the time machine was complete was also the same day where she became an adult. She stepped into the time machine at the same time that the boy woke up and by the time the boy discovered what had happened, she was already gone into the future. The boy was only able to catch a glimpse of her before she disappeared.

Above the Time seems like the continuation of You & I from the guy's perspective. I need to see some English lyrics.

Those are both extremely lovely videos/songs.

I think I had seen an choreo version of You&I once (I remember the wall of clockwork gears) but I'd never seen the actual MV. If I had known IU was a Time Lord I would have watched it sooner.

Also, the dance break(?) of Above the Time took me by surprise in a very pleasant way.

And what's this? Another new IU song just showed up in my youtube recommendations:

Interesting. I'm actually winding down an older Kdrama starring IU, so this kinda hits me at the right time.

IU came out of nowhere for me, but I quite like her songs.

EDIT: Scratch that, after really spending some time with Above the Time, I absolutely love it. Absolutely. Love. It. It’s poetic, hopeful with a hint of melancholy, cheerful and playful, all with an overtone of majesty and grandeur. And the video is so good!

If you haven't heard IU before, here's BbiBbi which was a big hit for her last year in Korea. The phrase "Yellow C-A-R-D" still randomly pops into my head at times.

Maybe her biggest hit (cititation needed) is Palette. Filled with personal lyrics and a wonderfully artistic video, it's probably my favorite by her:

And Good Day is more in the vein of the videos posted above. Worth watching:

Bbi bbi is IU complaining about no privacy for idols. Palette is great it's one of her birthday tracks (23 is another) it also happens to feature G Dragon of Big Bang who I understand is insanely popular in Korea.

Thanks for sharing those, Tscott. I'm not sure I like all her stuff nearly so much, but I enjoyed seeing her styles.

Here's one I found today that I pretty much dislike, but had to share. NSFW language though.

I feel like I should have been high before watching that. I'm sure there were a few good ideas in that song, but they were overpowered by the 1000s of not so good ideas that they also threw in.

The NSFW warning reminded me that I never shared a find by Lim Kim. I posted her video Awoo earlier in this thread which is a cute and light pop song where she acts like a cat in the video. Her latest song, Yellow, isn't that:

NSFW language. I know I'm not the target audience she's going for with this song but I really like it.

And if you want whiplash, here's Rain by her from 2013. Quite a difference. LOL

I'm gonna keep the IU love going a little longer.

A literal and figurative jam:

A remake of SoBangCha's 1988 hit, Last night:

SoBangCha is credited as the first K-pop boy band. Kinda crazy to see where it all started.

Also, the new WJSN comeback:

I really love the B-sides this group puts out, and their title tracks are great. Most of them have a fantastical sound that I really dig. They're right behind Dreamcatcher on my most underrated girl group list.

La La Love came out at the start of this year:

Secret is the song that put them on my radar. It's still one of my favorites:

Yesssssssss performance version!

I don't think I mentioned it before, but I'm very into this Mamamoo comeback. I strongly prefer funky, groovy Mamamoo to the more typical K-pop style of songs like Egotistic and Gogobebe.

Speaking of, I watched some early H.O.T. recently. How far we've come! Though I still dig "Candy" and "Happiness"

Interesting fact: Mamamoo switched to headset microphones for the first time for live performances of this song so they could do the choreography full on without needing to have microphones in their hands.

That makes sense. They usually have very simple choreography because they're so vocally focused. Hip is definitely a step up for them in terms of dancing.

Lol, this guy cracks me up.

He’s here on Knowing Bros with Momoland

Goo Hara was found dead on Sunday in what is believed to be suicide. Hara was known to be close friends with Sulli. Both had horrible ex-boyfriends. Not good at all.

I saw the news today as well. Breaks my heart.
