Year of Trek

She had fun, fun, fun 'til Daddy took the Razorback away.

Oh no I was talking about a show-only (pretty sure) character who showed up for 2 episodes and weaseled his way onto the Arboghast via Avaserala. He was a tech billionaire who was passionate about science, which is who we thought Musk was for a bit.

Edit: And it turns out he wasnt a billionaire either so Im just wrong. The actor just looks like Musky a bit
https://expanse.fandom.com/wiki/Mich... and he was also in the book (with changes)

Oh man, it's been so long since that season that I totally forgot about the space station orbiting Venus. I'd forgotten that not just Eros crashed into the planet, which is why I was confused. I thought "Miller was on Eros and he definitely wasn't a Musk analog"

Fun fact: Adam Savage (of Mythbusters) was also on the Arboghast He has like 1 line and then gets disassembled along with everyone else.

They crashed Eros into Venus? Where did they get the deltaV for that maneuver? That's insane.

Edit: Sorry, I was confusing Eris with Eros. Eris is heavier than Pluto and in that same orbital zone, so that would be a much bigger push.

OK, I've derailed this chat too much with talk to the excellent The Expanse. I'm about to start book two of the series and I look forward to it after I finish this:

I'd heard how amazing the audiobook is, and Audible had a good deal for a 99 cent a month sub, so I snatched this up.

Man, listening to Andrew J. Robinson narrate at Garak is like a warm, cosey blanket. It's SO damn comforting

Guess which Voyager episode I’m watching right now?

That’s right, it’s Threshold!!

No one stopped to think how 3-day old salamander babies would survive on their own.

The reward for sitting through that is an episode with Brad Dourif.

Wouldn't that be 20 million years ago? My brain hurts.

Time is a flat circle.

So who brings back the amphibian kids first? Lower Decks or Prodigy?

I'm surprised Lower Decks hasn't already.

I have been working my way through Cheers. Up to season 3 and only seen Kelsey Grammer so far. Looking forward to the rest.

Brent Spiner recently resumed his role as Bob Wheeler on the new Night Court.

It's a shame the new show is just so desperately unfunny.

Just watched Shatner on Kimmel. He did a 'do over' of Kirk's death. I always enjoyed that scene and have no problems with it. But the 'do over' was actually better. Shatner had a good point and nailed it in one cut sitting in a couch.

I played in an army band for several years. We could play whatever we wanted. One season we selected "The Liberty Bell" march for our pass in review song and played it at several change-of-command ceremonies in Germany, knowing nobody would question our use of a John Phillip Sousa piece. The soldiers in formation got a kick out of hearing the Monty Python theme.

S2E22: Look, I can deal with the salamanderism of crew, but I cannot stand whiny children.

Oh no, it’s Tuvix.

Subtitle for the entire series.

Made even more frustrating because saving Tuvix vs saving Tuvok and Neelix is treated like this unavoidable trolley problem when an obvious solution is RIGHT THERE.

Spoiler:

1.) Recreate the Thomas Riker incident, creating two Tuvices.

2.) Split one Tuvix, killing him instantly but saving Tuvok and Neelix.

3.) Kill the other one slow, really savor it.

+1000 GWJer points for employing the correct plural of tuvix.
