Cheap Laptop/Chromebook for kids

My son is using a Chromebook a lot at school so I thought we should look into buying one for him for home. I can certainly find one cheap (Newegg has one for $89) and I am fully aware it would be a lot slower than a laptop but hey for a kid who needs to access Google Docs for school and maybe wants to watch YouTube I am not sure he need a lot of power.

What are the opinions around here? If I wanted to get him something but not spend much more than $150 what should I look for?

Thanks!

Sure thing! I started my boys on a Chromebook and they eventually moved on to a regular laptop, but it was a good learning tool for them.

Thanks as well for the link above. I just ordered a Chromebook for my nephews...any recommendations for software? Ideally learning related stuff for a 4 and 6 year old.

Unfortunately my boys are 12 and 17 now, so I am woefully inadequate on my knowledge of software for that age demo. My sons usual daily use is Khan Academy, Spotify and the occasional Youtube video.
