In Uncharted 4’s multiplayer you can play as any character from the stories. They all have little things they say when different events occur in matches, getting downed, getting a streak, etc. One of my favourites is said by Sam, Nate’s brother, and it’s, “I was a tomb raider before it was cool.”

What do you have against vanilla ice cream?

I went to look up Kenshi, as the Game King suggested. Turns out I already own it! I must have bought it on a whim in some long ago steam sale. May as well try it, I suppose . . .

FYI: if anyone’s looking to pick up Hitman 2 on the cheap, Fanatical has it for $47 and you can get it for $43 with the coupon code Blackfriday10

Coupon and sale expire on 11/30.

On the subject of screenshots... I've been collecting wallpapers off and on since the 90's - who remembers Webshots? Well, my not-yet-realized dream is to have cheap tablets or monitors around my house displaying rotating picture selections. I have four main categories: family pictures, wallpapers, comics/memes/funnies, and game screenshots. I like seeing my City of Heroes character on top of a building, or my character from Guild Wars 2 after some major story moment. I have screenshots from Crimson Skies, from Black Flag, etc - even some high scores in games like Race The Sun or Pinball FX. I would have a lot more but I stopped PC gaming in 2006 and went to the PS3. That was a dark time, since not many games allowed you to take screenshots - and using a camera to take a picture of my TV just isn't the same. Thankfully the PS4 has a screenshot button now...

Picked up Kenshi on the suggestion of the crew. Looking forward to spending more time with it over the weekend, but thusfar it reminds me of a modern open world take on Fallout 2.

Regarding screen shots, I've made a bunch of them from my travels in Elite Dangerous, and also a lot from Kerbal Space Program (not all crashes).

HRH The Game King didn't waste any time putting together that Let's Play of Kenshi he was asked to make, so you can go have a look at it on the GWJ YouTube channel, too.

I primarily take screenshots so I can have interesting desktop backgrounds, and they natively fit without scaling or cropping.

I’ve got some my PC automatically cycling through some good ones from Euro Truck Simulator, Farming Simulator, Spintires, Wandersong, Bombshell, Pit People and Far Cry 5. I add more as I find them.

Kenshi sounds great - will check it out.

The reading by Graham Rowat brought me to tears. Not just for the beautiful reading by Graham, or touching words by the author, but also for what it made me reflect on about my own life. Both in my relationship to video games, but also substance use/abuse and how they have affected my life. Thank you, GWJ.

Screenshots depends on how easy it is to take them for me, but I got in the habit for when I used to review games. Steam by far has the most of mine, and I have my screenshot key mapped to ~ for most games, so it's easy enough to reach over and just snap a bunch up. It is fun to go back through and reminisce about games sometimes, especially ones I really don't have much desire to replay.

Thank you very much for the reading of Graham Rowat. It is almost my story. The energy that people in recovory get form things as gaming is very hard to understand. This story used the right words and timing to come close to the feeling. Idd I'm not a gamer; gaming is what I do. I am an alcoholic (in recovery).

Chapeau for the author.
