GWJ has a JRPG Club! How does it work?

If you love JRPGs, and want to play them in a social setting, this is the place for you! Each quarter, the GWJ community starts to play a new JRPG and discusses it. 

How do nominations and voting work?

First, we have about three days of nominations. To be included in the voting, each game must be nominated by one member and seconded by another member. Each member is allowed one nomination, but may second as many games as they like. 

Second, if we have enough games to warrant it, we will take three days to narrow the field. This will be done by a Pick 5* round. Club members can select any six games from the pool, in no particular order. The top six vote-getters will be carried forward into the final round. In case of ties, we'll send between 4-6 games to the final round: 6 if there's a two-way tie for 6th place; 4 if there's a 3 way tie (or more) for 6th place. 

* This Pick 5 round is designed to eliminate the games with insufficient support and narrow the field so that ranked choice voting helps us arrive at consensus. If 6 doesn't work -- like if there are only 7 or 8 games nominated -- we'll adjust this round accordingly. 

Third and finally, we'll take three days to pick a winner using ranked choice voting. List your candidates in order of preference, ranking as many as you'd like to play. Not familiar with ranked choice voting? Watch a video here. 

What games are eligible for nominations?
We only accept games with Western releases that are at least a year old (excluding remakes/remasters/ports). It's not law, but please try to consider the availability of a game (either in stores or on PSN/Xbox Live/eShop/Steam/GoG etc.) before nominating it, in order to get maximum participation. We also don't replay games previously selected, though I am open to revisiting that policy as the years go by. 

How long do we have to beat the game?
We start a new game every quarter, but the thread to discuss it will be open for six months.

How do I join the club?
Any member of the GWJ community can nominate and vote. If you want to participate in the discussion, just post in the game's thread to let us know that you are playing. You can then post about the game as much as you want.

There's a levelling system, too!
To gain a level, finish the game and post about it in the game's thread! Thanks to Godzilla Blitz and the CRPG Club for this and other ideas! Levels are only based on games played in the 2.0 and 2.IV incarnations of the club. There is no penalty for not finishing.

I update levels as people report that they've finished the game. If I've overlooked your post, please remind me! 

Where does the title come from?
The JRPG Club was created by Damnable Bear. After over two years, he decided to move on. steinkrug then kept things going. I took over, along with bobbwatson, for Version 2.IV. After bobbywatson stepped down, I converted this into Version 2.5 HD Remaster. Every JRPG needs a good HD Remaster.
