The GWJ JRPG Super Club 2.IVR: GWJ-Street 20XX: Welcome to No. Z Grind Theater! - Voting for Q4 in progress!

Cool. I'll give Tactics Ogre a run out and see if it clicks. Ta.

Updated list of nominations:

  • Chrono Trigger (SNES, PS1, DS, Wii VC, PC, iOS, Android, nominated by Sundown, seconded by myself)
  • Dragon’s Crown (PS3, PS4, Vita)
  • Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (PS3, soon PS4, SW, and PC, nominated by LastSurprise, seconded by KozmoOchez)
  • Radiant Historia (DS, 3DS, nominated by Mr GT Chris, seconded by myself)
  • Resonance of Fate (360, PS3, PS4, PC, nominated by KozmoOchez, seconded by Mr GT Chris)
  • Tales of Symphonia (GC, PS3, PC, PS2 in Japanese only)
  • Tales of Vesperia (360, PS3 (in Japanese), PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch)
  • Valkyrie Profile (PS1, PSP, iOS, Android)
  • The World Ends With You (DS, SW, iOS, Android, nominated by myself, seconded by Mr GT Chris)
  • Ys Origin (PC, PS4, Vita, Xbox One)
  • Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana (PC, PS4, Vita, SW, nominated by Bubblefuzz, seconded by LastSurprise)

I have to say: That's a pretty good selection!

It sure is!

I know Sundown said they were hoping for a shorter game. I’d like something at around the 30 hour mark, myself. But some of these games are so tempting, I can’t resist!

It's a preference, but if I'm zigging while everyone else is zagging, that's just the way it goes sometimes. And yeah, that's a pretty good list so far. I see some replays I'd do, plus a couple of new games that I would spring for even if they are a bit longer.

I'll nominate Chrono Trigger. I didn't see it on the list of games already played, and it's been a good long while since I played it. Plus it sounds like they fixed the steam port.

Just a note that Resonance of Fate is also available on PS4 (as a remaster).

I played the Steam port to death after all the patches were released and thought it was great.

This is one robust list! To the point that I'm reluctant to nominate anything because, well, I can't think of better, more fitting titles for the Club.

Hoooooo-boy!

Thanks, I updated the list.

And I will second Chrono Trigger. It's my all time favorite game, and I would certainly be happy to play it again.

I have updated the list of nominations, and also updated the thread title (which I had not updated since Q3 nominations back in May, oups.)

The Vita version of Ys: Origin is currently on sale for 9.99.

I would like to nominate Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. Did well a couple of times but never quite made the cut. The updated version is available on PS4, PS3, and Vita with the original on PS2 as well.

A few of the nominated games are included in the "Big in Japan" sale on PS4 in EU territories at the moment. I noticed:

Dragon’s Crown Pro
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir
Tales of Vesperia
Ys VIII

Prices vary of course but they're pretty cheap in Australia.

The number of Vita titles alone on sale is nuts, for anyone looking to round out their library.

And Resonance of Fate on PS3.

Already a great list, but I guess I should throw my hat in the ring.

Culdcept: Revolt

I've played 8-10 hours of this already so I may be cheating a bit, but I'd totally start fresh. I've been pestering all my friends to pick this one up because it's one of the SINGLE most underrated 3DS titles I've played. I think the common explanation of it being "Monopoly x Magic the Gathering" is a little off-putting (because what sane person finds Monopoly fun?) but it's honestly pretty accurate.

Maybe Mario Party without the wackiness and with a lot more strategy? There are a lot of ways to manipulate dice rolls which gives you a lot of choices compared to other digital board-games. There's also a strong SRPG element where you move around monsters on the field to take territory from your opponent. There's a good sense of progression as you obtain booster packs and level up cards, and a pretty meaty multiplayer element which would be a lot of fun to play with you all.

Also, I will second Ys Origin for myself, and Ys VIII for everyone else. I've already finished the latter, but it is an excellent game that more people need to try

I'd be more than happy to join in the conversation if it gets selected.

Tactics Ogre done!

Update time!

Congrats, and welcome to level 1! If you had a skill tree, what would it look like?

Not sure? I'm assuming previously completed club games don't count towards the leveling system?

Last call for nominations and seconding! Voting starts tomorrow as soon as I wake up and can get to my computer (around 6AM UTC-4 or thereabouts).

Returning from Q3 voting:

  • Dragon’s Crown (PS3, PS4, Vita)

Thats a pretty good list! About half of them I haven't played, so thats a win! Personally I'm rooting for ether Ys Origins or Valkyrie Profile from the Q3 voting or Resonance of Fate from the new list.

Only nominations I'd like to see is ether Last Remnant or Dragons Dogma (thats a jrpg? right?)

To be fair, I don't know enough about Dragon's Dogma to make a judgment, but we had Nier Automata, so probably yes.

I felt like Dragon’s Dogma had been on the list before, but apparently not.

Odin Sphere still needs seconding as well I believe. I do not see it on any of your lists on this page, did you just miss it?

Oh sh*t, sorry, I missed it completely. I’ll second it and update the list once I’m on my computer.

Can I second Dragons Dogma if the mentions above count as a nomination?

If not I would like to nominate it

And if it wasn't already nominated, I will second Cronox's nomination!

Too much Monster Hunter makes bobbywatson a dull boy and he wakes up late on the day he is supposed to announce the start of voting.

But anyway, enough with my addiction problems.

We have 13 games on the ballot for this quarter: (Culdcept Revolt did not make the cut as it was not seconded, and Dragon's Dogma made it in at the 11th hour.)
