Playstation 4 Catch-All

I should try that, because yeah, my PS4 feels like it takes forever. Were your folders and such preserved?

I didn't have any custom folders, so I couldn't say. Probably worth looking into before you try it.

The main menu was reset, with all the default PS4 apps at the front. I also got a ton of those "Tip" notifications telling you how to use various features of the console. I didn't need to sign into any of my video apps again.

Set it up several days early and update/install everything. For example - Spyro turned out to be a 67G game most of it downloaded after the initial install. Which is totally insane considering that the originals were shipped on CD (680mb/disk x 3 disks). I've heard similar of Fallout 76. One person in Australia saying it took several days to get all the updates installed.

Not all games are that way, but on xmas you just want to play and enjoy not watch a loading screen.

I look forward to watching someone else play that game.

So can anyone recommend some headphones for my wife?

So I want to play Fallout 76 with my wife (she’s currently level 20), but we only have one PC that can run it and one PS4. Also, my wife hates playing games on PC, so PS4 is our path. There are some pretty good holiday deals on PS4 classics, and our PS4 is a launch model so we’ll probably need to replace it soon anyway.

Here is my question;

If we get a second PS4, would I need to pay for a second PS+ account to play with her, or could we both play from my current PS+ account on the two machines? I’ve heard of people doing that with borderlands, but I don’t know how or if that would work here.

This is done by being a bit tricky with your 'Home Console' options. Basically any secondary account on a console can play everything they own and everything the Home Console account owns. This is meant for families. So if you make your console her primary and her console your primary you can share content, including PSPlus subs.

It doesn't need to be in the same house either and works for all 3 consoles. Right now my wife and I live 3 hours apart during the week(work sucks) and she can play anything I own. One downfall to this, if the internet goes down the content can't be accessed during that time because it's not able to validate the ownership.

That’s helpful, but what about playing online games simultaneously?

If I buy a second copy of fallout 76 will we be able to play together if I make her console my primary and make my console hers? Or will I need a second subscription to play online together? I don’t think so based on Sony’s FAQ.

TLDR: putting online features behind a paywall makes business sense— I don’t fault anyone for charging for server upkeep— but sucks if you have a house full of gamers. Nintendo, of all companies, figured out a way around this.

Yes, and if you have the game digitally you only need one copy of the game. I have the PS+ subscription for the house and I set the console Mr. Dragon uses as my primary, I play on the other, and we can play together.

Edit to clarify: We each have separate PS4 accounts, but mine is the only one paying for Plus.

It doesn't all have to be one one account either. For example, I owned Uncharted 4 and my buddy did not but he has PSPlus and I did not. By doing this were able to both play Uncharted 4 together doing the online multiplayer stuff.

Preordered! Thank you very much, Farley... I've been wanting that for a while!

To celebrate five years of PlayStation 4, Sony is allowing PlayStation players to relive their greatest gaming moments through My PS4 Life.

The feature creates a unique video which highlights the first PS4 game you ever played, how many hours you've spent playing in total (as well as your top three most played games), how many you have and the rarest trophy you have obtained.

You can create your own video at My PS4 Life and signing in to your PlayStation account.

It takes a few minutes to generate, but if you don't have time you can request the video to be emailed to you within 24 hours. Be aware, creating the video automatically subscribes you to marketing emails.

Below are some of the videos from members of the TechRadar team. Please try your best not to judge...

Is this EU only?

PSA: Uncharted: Lost Legacy is on sale for $10 or less on US PSN. It's like a regular Uncharted game but good!

Well that was eye opening...

My word I think I'd previously underestimated how much Overwatch I'd played...

Total PS4 time. 994 hours*.
Overwatch. 304 hours**.
Then a long drop to...
The Division. 111 hours.
HZD. 78hrs.

*Seems a lot, but I guess it is my main games machine.

**Yet still poor to average skills (edit... and have defo now had my fill of it).

And of course the site is too busy and has an error message now

I couldn't get it to work, I noticed web adress redirects to EU website, so it may not work on NA accounts.

Yeah, it's an instant "not working" message for me. Doesn't seem like the website's even thinking about it.

Hopefully there will be a NA link at some point in time or they will get the EU working.

It seems like a fun thing to try.

As someone who for unknown reasons have played all the Uncharted games, despite not really liking them... yeah, Lost Legacy was decent. Same silly combat, but at least some freshness with the characters.

Damn, I have played 927 hours PS4. Didn't expect that. Not exactly my main gaming platform.
152 hours Horizon Zero Dawn, 129 hours Bloodborne, 127 hours Final Fantasy 12.

And my rarest trophy on PS4 is one I got on PS3... guess it doesn't work perfectly.

I haven't made it more than a couple hours into any of the Uncharted games, but I liked Lost Legacy and played it through to the end. The characters are fresh; the setting is beautiful; and the more open world in the first part of the game helps break things out of the tedious cinematic action style that permeates the others.

I didn't much care for the game's final act:

Spoiler:

The Drake who shows up isn't Nathan but isn't any less god damn irritating.

But I enjoyed the rest of it quite a bit. Enough to at least recommend taking a flyer on it if you're curious about why people like Uncharted but don't necessarily have any interest in Nathan Drake's games.

The last act of Lost Legacy also felt noticeably less polished than the preceding bits, but overall, it's definitely my favorite in the series now.

I really wish the ps4 life thing would work for us on NA accounts. I am 100% certain on which game is #1 for hours played, Rocket League, I'm almost certain I was well over 1000 hours on it.

Didn't they have an e-mail that would track this data monthly and North American users weren't receiving it? I feel like this sort of thing is spear-headed by PlayStation Europe and no one other region gives a crap about it.

How does the PS life video work? Does it create a video montage of me playing games? Because I’m not thrilled about the idea that Sony has been recording my gaming sessions without my consent.

Just to represent the unwashed masses: I like all the Uncharted games. Even Golden Abyss.

But yes, I enjoyed Lost Legacy more than Uncharted 4, which overstayed its welcome.

I would be shocked if they could do that; I expect they just have stock footage from lots of games that they stitch together based on your playtime data.

I'm not going to find out, though, for the same reason I've never done any Facebook poll - I can't help but think this is somehow tied to advertising. I wonder if in the process of setting it up you're giving permission, knowingly or not, to share your data for marketing purposes.

It's not really a video of note, it's just a very short montage of a couple stats. Time spent on PS4, top 3 games time played, rarest trophy. That's it.

Maybe I'm getting muddled, but I vaguely remember NA folk sharing something similar a year or so ago, that wasn't available over here and elsewhere.

Yeah, I liked pretty much all of the Uncharted games...and I thought I was the only one who played Golden Abyss! The touch pad parts were beyond silly, and its probably the only Uncharted game that I haven't platinumed
