Playstation 4 Catch-All

A fresh PS4 catch-all since the old thread was getting a bit bloated.

Firs..... aww.

Love that new catch-all smell.

Not sure if this is the best place to put this, but has anyone had issues with the Youtube or Netflix apps on PS4 dimming while watching something? I notice it with particularly dark videos/shows like the recent Sabrina. Usually moving a stick on the controller is enough to bring it back, but it's annoying to have to do every 20 minutes or so. I'm reasonably sure it's not the TV. I've tried turning off the screensaver setting on the PS4 so we'll see if that helps. Any other ideas? I've found a lot of google results for similar issues on both PS4 and Xbox, but haven't found any definitive solutions.

Anyone have an opinion on the Sony Gold headphones?

Yep and I'm not sure how to fix it either. I, too, would have guessed it was in the screensaver, powersaver, etc settings. My TV has all the same video apps though, so I generally just use those instead.

A summer 2019 release, perhaps?

3 games down (Spidey, Ratchet, GoW), on to Infamous.

That certainly does sound like the screensaver, which defaults to kicking on after 15 minutes of no input. For anyone else with the issue, check Settings -> Sound and Screen -> Start Screensaver.

Cool.

November plus games posted yet?

Yup.

PS4:

  • Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition
  • Yakuza Kiwami

PS3:

  • Jackbox Party Pack 2
  • Arkedo Series

Vita:

  • Burly Men At Sea, (Cross Buy with PS4)
  • Roundabout, (Cross Buy with PS4)

Sigh. Yakuza Kiwami already making me wish I hadn't let my Plus subscription lapse. Ah well, not like I would have started playing it anytime soon anyway.

Pretty happy with the games, I been looking at buying Bulletstorm for some time now, I own Kiwami but having it digital is a plus.

Oh, I almost bought Kiwami two weeks ago. What lovely timing.

A game with fleshed out memory stuff, but without the bad combat? I'm in. The combat is what made me quit Remember Me.

I found the combat so tedious in Remember Me that I quit before I got to the first memory sequence. Which was annoying - I really liked the look and the world, and the story seemed more-than-halfway decent. But...life is too short to pound your head against games that actively annoy you.

The problem with combat in Remember Me is that it wasn't really combat; it was a puzzle that looked an acted like combat. They did not clearly enough signal that combat was really about setting up the "combo lab" for the opponents you were facing. They probably should have removed more of the action trappings, so it was more focused on the puzzle; or given the game a real combat system, and dropped the puzzle aspects of assembling optimal combos.

Honestly, a lot fell apart with that game (the memory remixes were too short and the story wasn't great), but the worldbuilding was fantastic and it was a memorable "virtual tourist" experience for me.

A new beginning.

Not much to be excited about on PS+ these days, but Yakuza Kiwami is at least interesting. Never played a Yakuza game before. Not entirely sure I should either, but now I have the option!

Anyone know when the Tetris Effect demo is going live?

It's live for me now (in Australia). I had to go to the Free/Demos section of the store to find it.

When does the psn store usually get updated? Weekly or whenever?

I think individual games are added at any time. Sales and such tick over on a weekly basis.

Typically Tuesday morning around 10 AM Pacific.

I downloaded it this afternoon on the West Coast. It feels like a good version of Tetris, with great visuals and fun music. I felt like I wanted to drop to the rhythm of the music, which wasn't always the best strategy.

I downloaded it last night, but it was locked

Never played a Yakuza game before, I’ll give that a go.

Once RDR2 let’s me go. So 2020 I’m guessing.

Burly men at sea I'd like to play.

Should that have been 10 PM? Here in CST, it doesn't get updated until Tuesday evening, around 8 PM.

I gave the Tetris Effect demo a 45 minute run-through last night in VR, and then removed it from my wish list. It's just...Tetris; I guess it has some pretty visuals, but once I'm concentrating on visuals I'm really not paying attention to anything other than the blocks. And the VR mode is problematic - it kept slowly rotating visuals to the left, and unlike every other PSVR game in existence there's no button to recenter things (usually you hold down the Option button). So the longer I played the more I had to look over my left shoulder.

I let PS Plus expire a few months back. I cannot say that I've missed it.

Going to be playing some Black Ops 4 Blackout tonight around 8PM Pacific. The Blackout mode is super fun with with a group of four and if anyone wanted to hop on, I'd love to team up.

Have you looked at Playstation Now? Is that available where you are? The library of downloadable PS4 games is nice. It fits the billing of "instant game collection" way better than PS Plus ever did for me.
