NFL 2018: Week 9

FitzMagic was at my daughter's work with the local sports station. Of course he was wearing the "getup" for Halloween. She took a photo with him. Pretty hilarious for Halloween

Surprised you didn't post the pic!

"Harvester of Sorrow." How fitting.

Oakland makes everyone look good. This might be fun.

MULLENSANITY!

Raiders get 1st pick. Draft QB. Trade Carr to Jacksonville. Niners draft Bosa.

As much as I want BEAT HARD to be good, Mullens looks way better equipped to be the QB2 of this team, judging by tonight at least.

Mullens gets the ball out. That's what this offense requires and what Garoppolo does well, but Beat Hard struggles with that quickness.

Oakland D obviously is NFL Easy Mode so you can only judge so much, but at the very least, if he sees it, he throws it.

Don't play starting linemen out of position to try and fill injuries. It just hurts you at two line spots instead of one. Putting Osemele at tackle is not a good idea.

F*ck yeah McGlinchey lead blocking that run 50 yards down the field.

PFF has McGlinchey the highest graded offensive rookie at any position.

That might be my next Niner jersey.

I think we can all get behind Nick Mullens. Any objections to GWJ-wide support of MULLENSANITY??

We need a new bandwagon after the wheels fell off of Derek Carr and the Raiders.

Baby Shanahan's deadpan is underrated.

So Hue Jackson sat down for an "exclusive interview" with Browns beat writer May Kay Cabot.

It is being characterized as the "It's not my fault" interview.

This reporter from NFL Network is toasting Hue's comments

So, do you want to watch the Rams or the Saints Sunday afternoon?

IMAGE(https://i.imgur.com/gikqi1y.png)

You know there's usually only three afternoon games, right? And, there's two networks. So...

Sure, but "only three games" is not some immutable property of the universe. It's that way because the NFL makes it that way, and they know what the TV broadcast schedules will look like as a result.

You got me. Only the places that are not orange or green will only get one game. And if you are lucky enough to get two choices, you only get one noon game.

Watching the McGlinchey 50 yards downfield in the Raiders defensive backfield highlight reminded me how the Raiders wanted to draft him, but lost out because the Niners won the coin toss for the #9 pick and took him one pick before they could. (They then traded down before taking the next tackle on the board)

You know, the non-QBs in the top 10 of this draft have been doing pretty well so far:

#2: Saquon Barkley, obvious stud RB, 519 rush yards and 497 receiving yards in 8 games, legitimately on pace to possibly 1000/1000
#4: Denzel Ward, allowing only 72.5 QB rating against
#5: Bradley Chubb, 7.0 sacks through half a season, pass rusher as advertised
#6: Quenton Nelson, most snaps ever by a rookie guard through 8 games, allowing pressure on only 3.9% of snaps
#8: Roquan Smith, 2nd leading tackler on their top 10 defense
#9: Mike McGlinchey, top graded PFF rookie linemen by far, pressure allowed on just 5.9% of snaps

Uh, so Raiders cut Bruce Irvin and Cardinals cut Sam Bradford.

Latter is obvious with Mike Glennon on the roster but the former is shocking. Apparently your defense needs no pass rush. Noted.

Niners better make that waiver claim on Irvin.

Ser-pen-tine! Tampa Two!

Spoiler:

I keep repeating that because Gruden at best sounds like he's trapped in his own past.

Here's a blast from the past:

I hear Josh Gordon likes to study "blitz packages" as well.

Big Ben down.

Looks like he might of done his shoulder/collarbone.

Nm he's already back in. Dunno how as it looked bad.

Stop me if you've heard this one.

Nathan Peterman throws a bunch of INTs.

The Peter Man does what little a Peter Man can.

Bradford will be starting for the Bills next week I'm sure.

I know that no one other than SEA and San Diego are getting the Chargers/Seahawks but MAN is Russell frustrating today. Two sacks taken that stopped drives and totally missed throws on key 3rd down plays (twice!). He's like 3 of 11 on 3rd down. Yuck.
