Happy Halloween! Most of the games coming to PC are horror themed, so naturally I’m not going to talk about any of them.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum 'n' Fun! is a taiko drum arcade game, and it’s coming to the Switch, which seems like a natural fit. I love rhythm games, and I love kawaii, and I’ve always regretted that I didn’t realize those two facts until after it was no longer possible to find Taiko Drum Master for the PS2. Now’s my chance to rectify something in my life, and I’m taking it.

Redeemer: Enhanced Edition brings my number seven game of 2017 to the Nintendo Switch. I don’t have much to add except that I’m happy that it did well enough to warrant a port.

I’m not sure how Lub Blub got the rights to Data East’s catalog, or even if they bothered, but Heavy Burger is a mash-up that appears to put all of their games into one big game, kind of like Wreck it Ralph, but with Karate Champ instead of Donkey Kong. Get it before the DMCA does!

I know that if I didn’t put some sort of pixelart throwback game into this list, you’d probably need to call the police to find out what happened to me, so I present Save me Mr Tako: Tasukete Tako-San. It’s a classic Game Boy throwback: monochromatic and pixely. I’m picking it for no other reason than I love the design of the main protagonist, especially when he puts on a Robin Hood hat to shoot arrows.

Ruya is a meditative puzzle game that reminds me of the work of Ferry Halim, where I used to while away spare work hours before moving to a new job that didn’t have spare work hours. I don’t know if it’s a mobile port, and I don’t particularly care. It’s beautiful and offers a mellow, soft experience that I think most of the world needs right now.

My game of the week is more appropriate to the season. I have never played Diablo III on any platform, but its emergence on Nintendo’s pseudo-portable platform has me interested. A loot-grinding action game is perfect for the Switch, as evidenced by the fact that my wife and I have collectively logged over 400 hours in Monster Hunter Generations: Ultimate as of this writing, I look forward to finding out what all the fuss is about. Diablo III is my Nintendo Switch Pick of the Week.

Shadow of Loot Box has something to say about the state of modern shooters. Unfortunately, it is still a shooter – you just shoot loot boxes and other ills of the game industry instead. It does have a couple of features that most modern shooters don’t: jank and sparse checkpoints.
The Quiet Man is a blend of live action and CGI, and the sound design is based on the fact that the protagonist is deaf. Because this is videogames, he can still whup ass. Details on the story are scarce, but it could be anything from good David Cage to bad David Cage.

Call of Cthulhu finally arrives this week, after being through a couple of devs over a 4-year development cycle. Cyanide Studio has reworked it to resemble more closely the investigation tabletop RPG of the same name. As such, it largely involves inspecting scenes for clues for unravelling some cosmic mystery. There are stealth elements as you hide from confrontation, and all the while your Sanity is draining.

The Valkyria Chronicles 4 DLC train keeps on chuggin’. This week we get Expert Level Skirmishes, which is exactly what it sounds like.

Dream Daddy: Dadrector's Cut is more than a just a PS4 port of the cult favourite dating sim. It will also include extra sidequests, a new, gym-based minigame and some deleted content. The music was so relaxing, and there was such a nice vibe to all the promo materials, that I’m charmed to make it my GOTW.

All those words and not a single mention of Gal Metal. Such a crime.

I was interested from the setup of that video, Chris, but then I saw it start to flash "RUDIMENTS" on the screen, and the hook sunk.

Is my child old enough to learn about paradiddles? Perhaps so!

Also Switch Smash Bros bundle on Friday.

Sure Smash isn't for a few more weeks but I'm in for a shiny new system and having the game at midnight in December.

You just reminded me that I want to get that game digitally, not physically. A shame, as I can get a discount if I go physical, but I know I'm going to want to be able to swap to that at any time without concern of whether I packed it or not.

Yup, I'm totally interested. Price puts me off because I'm also interested in The Quiet Man and Diablo 3.

This week is THE big week for me this fall. Crazy, I know.

Holy moly Steep is still being updated and with an X Games tie in which is aimed straight at my generation.
