2019 NBA Catch-All - It’s Fantastic

Wait, they’re going to roll out a roster consisting of 4 players who are all bigs (what Simmons basically is since he can’t shoot)?

Sure. I like it!

Offense

1 Simmons
2 Richardson
3 Harris
4 Horford
5 Embiid

Defense

1-4 Simmons
1-3 Richardson
3-4 Harris
2-5 Horford
4-5 Embiid

I think it’s beastly on defense and essentially a super sized Milwaukee on offense. Everyone on the floor except Simmons can shoot from all over.

I’m confident that team beats anyone in the East , especially if Kawhi leaves Toronto. Milwaukee is going to miss Brogdon and has pretty much stood pat otherwise. Boston’s frontcourt is lacking. I don’t think Brogdon and Jeremy Lamb push Indiana over the hump. Gonna be an interesting season.

Yeah, defensively I think they'll be awesome. With Butler and Reddick instead of Horford and Richardson they basically shutdown everyone but Kawhi and Game 7 Ibaka against Toronto.

Offensively, I don't know, 3 slight-above-average 3-point guys, a below-average 3pt guy in Embiid, and a 3pt coward in Simmons doesn't seem like enough spacing. Maybe the size would make up for it, I don't know.

That is a killer defensive team for Philly. I am not sure why they chose to keep Harris over Butler though, I guess because he is 30 and they didn't want to give him a max contract for his post-30 years. I am a bit surprised he wanted to go to Miami instead of Houston though.

I think Brooklyn will have regrets. I don't understand why any team would give Kyrie the max at this point. KD won't be the same player for 2 years, if ever. Maybe things will work out, but I think it is much more likely in three years their fans will not be happy.

I think keeping Harris over Butler makes sense in three ways. He’s a better shooter, if a bit less clutch. He’s a better teammate by miles. Finally, they gave up a lot more to get Harris than they did Butler, so that sunk cost isn’t there. Plus it’s likely they could only get what they wanted from Miami by flipping Butler.

Could have also been Butler wasn't overly interested in not being the face of the franchise like he will be in Miami.

I agree with the Brooklyn assessment.

So they are not winning in this East this year.
Next year maybe big * how Durant comes back
The third year Durant and Jordan are 33 and Kyrie is 30.

It's still worth it because they are 4 year deals. Worst case they are frigged for the next 4 years. Best case they are title threats for 3 years.

I really like what the Jazz are doing. They’re like 1 shooter away.

Oops. My bad. I missed the news that they signed Bogdanovich.

Holy sh*t. Didn’t see this coming.

And the Bucks cornered the market on Lopez brothers.

A suddenly important article

No, no, let's sign another Power Forward! I want to see an ALL POWER FORWARD lineup roll it out at MSG!

He should make peace with Oak and sign him to coach the team.

This is insane and I love it. If Kawhi stays it’s the perfect offseason for everyone who wants the Lakers and Knicks to fail.

Clippers are in a good position no matter what happens and just sign Beverley to a very reasonable contract.

Danny Green is waiting on Kawhi which indicates there’s some sort of agreement between him and a team or two.

Beverly resigning makes me think Toronto has hope.

Although, we should put a Google alert on the IMDB page for Space Jam 2 just in case.

I gotta admit, I really hope LeBron is using that to pay AD under the table, because that's the version of events that makes me laugh the most.

I mean, how is it not? He just gave up $4 million?

Sneaky sneaky Warriors.

I like it. With Curry Klay and Kerr I'm sure they have some tips to help improve his scoring even more.

Whoa.

Looks like they'll probably lose Cook and Looney (and won't be able to bring Cousins back, which isn't a surprise to me)

Not sure this makes the Warriors much better this year (do they have anyone to play the 3?). Maybe they're hoping Russell ends up being a good trade asset next summer?

48 contracts worth $3.175 billion signed in under 8 hours. Good lord.

Russell is an ok player but I am surprised so many teams think he is worth the max. Seems like a weird fit alongside Curry. I am surprised they traded Igoudala, they must have gotten his ok but Memphis doesn't seem like a place he would want to end his career. Maybe they have a handshake for a buyout or another trade?

Whoa, didn't realize the Warriors gave up a long away future unprotected 1st to get off of Iguodala. Really don't like that.

54 minutes into Dunc'd On and they've covered the Nets, Warriors, Sixers, and Heats moves. 2 hours to go, not a bad way to spend Canada Day.

Kinda wished I could watch First Take this morning just to see Stephen A lose it over the Knicks.

Portland making moves.

Trade for a Whiteside.

Bunch of role players are all flying off the wire also. If the Lakers don't land Kawhi (please no) the only guys left might actually be people you wouldn't pay more than the minium anyways.

What's behind Kawhi's waiting, though? What does he stand to gain from it, or lose?

Hear everyone out?

Seems like he hasn't been doing all this via back channels like the other players. He actually took the time off to be off.

Also 0 risk for him really. He's getting paid regardless. It's just is it from Toronto or one of the LAs.

Dude needed to experience a Canada Day before deciding.

jownsr’s got the right of it. It seems he was completely honest about focusing on the season, health, and playoffs and is only really giving consideration now. I’m guessing/hoping that before the trade he figured it’d be one of the two LA teams and now the Raptors have made themselves viable so he has a lot to think about.

The rumbling about him is that he isn’t overly interested in super teams and does want to run the show. So he’s looking at three very different scenarios with very different opportunities.
