2019 NBA Catch-All - It’s Fantastic

Lotta movement in the draft. Atlanta moved up, sending 8 and 17 and 35 to New Orleans for the 4. Minnesota sent the 11 and Dario Saric to Phoenix for the 6.

I like that by NOLA. Stockpile picks so you get lots of chances to draft players on rookie contracts. They're obviously on a different timetable with all young players. Eventually, if they choose to, they'll have to pay Ball and Ingram slightly more. So might as well fill out the roster with other young players in case you have to pay Ball and Ingram next year or the year after.

Boy, there sure is a bit of dust around here tonight.

Yeah these teary proud parent bits are more effective now as a dad.

Is that a Sideshow Bob necklace on Jaxson Hayes?

Chauncey Billups needs to chill with these player comps lol. Rui Hachimura reminds him of young Kawhi? Kawhi was a defensive monster without a jump shot. Hachimura is lost on defense and shoots nicely.

Now I want to find a supercut of the worst draft comps. There has to be some good stuff out there. Remember when Adam Morrison was going to be Larry Bird?

Sekou Doumbouya is the first player born in the 2000s to be drafted. Yeah, I'm having a severe old feeling right now.

All I remember is him crying with time left in a one possession game in college. He never had a chance.

No love for Bol Bol

UPDATE: finally picked by the Nuggets at 44

I was hoping he'd somehow drop to the Raptors. Seems crazy how far he dropped.

Eh... Zion was born July 6, 2000!

Those kids were really sweet. Just in case anyone else missed it like me.

Raptors picked Dewan Hernandez (Huell)

This video is from 3 years ago. I think he's filled out a bit.

He seems like the Raptor's type of player, like a Siakam with a jumper.

He also has some issues. Suspended for accepting payment from an agent and, most importantly, assaulting a guy at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment.
/dorm room.

Happy Thursday!

That's really good

My (soon to be) three year old has developed an obsession with basketball. Which is poor timing for obvious reasons. I am sick of watching highlights on YouTube.

What is a good game I could buy, considering I haven’t played a basketball game since NBA Street? Looking for something that can keep me entertained as a single player game, but is easy enough to keep the little watching.

Can always watch NBA summer leagues.

I think the newest spin-off game is NBA playgrounds. Haven't tried it.

They remade NBA Jam back in 2011 for the previous gen systems.

The WNBA's season is going on right now too. I'll probably actually watch a few games of that this summer once the World Cup's done since TSN's actually broadcasting some games and the Blue Jays are garbage this year.

I think they’re selling NBA2k19 for $3 right now. Or they were. An older NBA2k would be great, I think. You can just play single games or play online.

I buy 2k every year and all I ever play are single online games.

Looks like Kemba is leaving the Hornets. They lowballed him. :\

It’s like a breakup where you are sad the person won’t be a part of your life but you kinda know they were destined for more anyway. At least I can watch all his games now for free, living in the Boston market.

For pick up and play and fun, NBA Live 19 is good. 2K is the deeper and better game, but I’ve long since given up trying to learn the moves. Live 19 is better at just triggering animations based on context.

Thanks for the suggestions! I think I may try an old NBA 2K game. I think that may be instantaneous enough to keep us entertained.

I bought NBA 2K19 a few months ago, and am loving it, but to be clear, I completely ignore the microtransaction hell of the MyPlayer and online stuff, and stick entirely to the single-player MyGM and MyLeague modes.

Anyway, I'm still super-excited to see exactly how this is going to implode for the Knicks in the Knickiest way possible. It's amazing to think that a month ago, I genuinely was allowing myself to begin to think that KD-Kyrie-Zion was going to be a thing.

NBA free agency starts today at 6pm est and it's crazy the amount of possibilities that could happen.

From the Ringer NBA podcast my favorite ones are Butler to Houston + Brogdon to Dallas.

The Butler one more so I'm curious to see if Ben Simmons can step up and Philly with a better supporting cast.

Also the drama of Butler/Harden/Paul could be hilarious.

They made a real great case for Brogdon in Dallas as a good fit + Dallas still having room to makes moves down the line

The amount of 1B guys and role players is super interesting. Where Brook Lopez Thobias Harris D'Angelo Russell etc end up could really matter. Then down the line you have guys like Wesley Matthews Danny Green etc that could be extremely important on playoff teams.

Also if you’re too busy to read the BS podcast is alright these days and includes lots of similar nuggets.

My favorite is the possibility of Al Horford to New Orleans. It makes too much sense. Mentor a young, but potentially competitive roster. Meanwhile the Pelicans get the benefit of paying someone like Horford on a max deal while they wait for their young guys to mature and have plenty of cap room.

I know a lot of teams need point guards, but D'Angelo Russell is one guy I wouldn't want to pay. Not efficient offensively and his coach was going offence/defence with him at the end of a regular season game against the Raptors which is not a good sign to me. If I were a team I'd rather try to play Brogdon, even if his foot apparently might explode.

I used to listen to the BS pod religiously, but around a year ago he started to really grate on me. Don’t like Russilo without SVP, and I really can’t stand Chris Ryan’s half-educated takes anymore. I still like the Ringer a lot as an outlet but try to avoid those three.

I feel you. Simmons too frequently dips into his typical takes, references to pop culture and way too much focus on the Celtics and references to his friends and his personal experiences.

I actually personally like the combo of him and Russillo, though. Mostly because Russillo pokes fun at him so much.

I totally agree about Chris Ryan. I have no interest in his basketball hot taks.
