2019 NBA Catch-All - It’s Fantastic

How awful.

If it didn't end badly, it wouldn't end. Get well soon, Klay.

Hate to see players getting injured, it hurts my heart. Sending Klay, KD, Looney, and everyone else good wishes and speedy recovery.

I'm making plans to attend the Championship Parade on Monday. Can't believe I'm writing this.

Lucky. I can't even imagine. Literally.

Yup. This is the first team I've cheered for that's won anything. I've had my hockey team come close but instead it crushed my spirit and enjoyment of the sport.

As a Sixers fan its rough to see the team you took to 7 games and lost on the last shot win the Championship (even though I didnt like the Bucks matchup at all especially with gimpy Joel) I'm happy for Raptors and their fans.. Kawhi is a special player and generally seems like a good dude.. I also like the ex Nova Lowry so I'm happy for him as well.

Drake is the worst.. so his happiness is a net negative for the rest of the world though... GS is also the worst so seeing them lose is almost as good as watching the Bruins lose. muhahahaha

If you guys had a decent minimum-salaried backup centre you would have won that series.

I hesitate to click that link because it will tell someone somewhere that I might have the slightest hint of possibly caring about what Stephen A Smith says. I do not understand how someone as obnoxious as him is so popular.

Did you not see the baby megacut upthread?

Congrats, Toronto, and I am glad they won. Feels like a wasted opportunity as a Milwaukee fan but love seeing a team get their first.

Re-upping this in honor of the NBA champion Toronto Raptors

I'll always have a soft spot for this team, regardless of what comes next.

Damn it. That wasn't fun to watch. I tore up the ligaments in my left knee in my teens (twice!) and I did not cope well with seeing that. It also brings back memories of Rose and Penny Hardaway, two players who may have been my favourites in the league at the point in time they went and ruined their left knee ACL.

I think I'm still happy overall that the Raptors, especially with Kawhi, won the series, but the cheering over Durrant's injury mixed a bit of a sour taste into the victory. Retrospectively, I think I wanted the Warriors to win their last hope game with the Raptors just edging it out in seven.

But, man, you have to give the Dubs at least some credit. For all the (somewhat fair) criticisms of being overpowered, what we saw here was a beaten, bruised, limping shell of that team not quite manage to take it to seven games because of probably the greatest shooter of all time miss a decent look and no remaining time-outs. There was actual heart there.

Still, my dreams of seeing how KD go his own way and GS use the money saved there on more bench depth with less iso focus are likely in tatters now. GS management #@%^ing ows KD a fat contract offer considering that his achilles is effectively their responsibility :/

Still, it's cool to see Kawhi smile.

The whole thing of trying to paint a specific fan base as somehow worse than another is foolish. It’s all bad. It just takes the right combination of events to expose it.

People keep dying at Dodger and Giants games by their fan base pummeling each other after games.

It’s all bad. That’s why I stay home and watch from my couch.

The one Eagles fan who smuggled in and launched a flare gun into a MNF game against the Niners is a national treasure though. He should get a statue or something in Philly.

Big Baller Brand's going to the Big Easy.

Good for the Pelicans. A restart with a fresh young core seems like the best outcome they could hope for, even if I’m not super sold on the young players they got. I wonder if they should try to deal Jrue Holiday too.

3 first round picks? I guess the Lakers are all in on win right now with LBJ plan and hell with the future.

I have to mention, I wonder about Davis’ intentions and planning sometimes. He talks about how he’s wanted a better basketball situation, wanted to compete for titles. The two teams he targeted are the Lakers and Knicks? The two teams with the most losses in the past five seasons.

Obviously the Lakers are somewhat different with LeBron on board but last season showed he’s on the wrong side of 34.

And Marc Stein says Kemba Walker is a top target for the Lakers.

Knicks are really going to end up with Brook Lopez, Danny Green and Tobias Harris.

Ask my Cavs how that turns out

Ramona Shelbourne tweeted the Pels control the Lakers' next 7 first round picks through the three they got plus pick swaps. Will be interesting what the protections are like, LeBron could be gone after 2 more seasons.

So torn about this. I’m one of the few Hornets fans in the world so I’d be bummed for the team. On the other hand I’m so fond of Kemba that I would kinda like seeing him go compete on a big stage. With the Warriors so banged up, LeBron AD and Kemba might make the finals. Which would feel strange, rooting for LeBron for the first time ever.

I think that is too much for Davis.

Theoretically the West is wide open next year. And longer if GS doesn’t get Thompson or Durant back. But still they basically have a 3 year window and who else can they even sign to fill out the roster?

I would like to see a Kawhi Raptors team face the LeBron/AD Lakers in the finals.

They’ll have something like 32-34 million in cap space. So either a bunch of serviceable role players or one guy approaching max salary.
