2019 NBA Catch-All - It’s Fantastic

I’ll miss the Blazers. They played so much higher than expectations all year long.

Of all the ways to lose to the Warriors, I'd hate losing to a Draymond dagger the most.

I think Milwaukee's the only team with a chance, and even then I think it's Warriors in 6.

Oooh boy.

GS might need to take a mini vacation to wait for the East to finish.

Ass kicking. Finals start on the same day regardless. The schedule was already set. Nice job by Toronto.

Rawr

Feels good, man.

I just caught the end. What happened to Kawhi?

He has got some leg pain. He says he's good, he's playing through it, downplaying the pain. He's not complaining about it. It started in Game 3.

Really makes me wonder what the Spurs organization did or didnt do vs. how Toronto has treated Leonard, and reaped the benefit so far in these playoffs. Why is he willing to lay it all on the line for Toronto, but sat out for SA?

If the bench can keep up the intensity, then Kawhi can play less minutes, and hopefully whatever is nagging him will subside enough that it is a non issue.

Here are Kawhi's post game comments (ESPN)

"For a second consecutive game, much attention was paid to Leonard occasionally coming up limping throughout the proceedings. After looking hobbled early in Game 3 yet finding a way to gut himself through 52 grueling minutes, the most obvious moment in Game 4 came when Leonard completed a dunk and was fouled by Giannis Antetokounmpo in the third quarter.

Leonard came down with his full weight on his right leg and looked to be in pain. But, like in Game 3, he stayed in the game and refused afterward to say he was in pain.

"Feel good," said Leonard, who finished with 19 points on 6-for-13 shooting in 34 minutes. "Keep going, keep fighting. We have a chance to make history."

Asked if the minutes from Game 3 caught up with him in Game 4, Leonard passed on answering.

"There's no excuses," he said. "You're playing basketball. We got a win tonight.""

I dislike Drake. I dislike him even more and it now means I dislike all things Toronto. More importantly why doesn’t he get sh*t outside Toronto like Spike Lee got during that brief period when the Knicks were relevant?

I mean besides the obvious reasons.

Drake bothers me a lot too. Does Spike Lee do the same thing? Why am I less bothered by Spike Lee? Maybe because my opinion is he has more talent? Or is it because Lee seems like he's joking whereas Drake seems like he's actually got beefs with players like Giannis. Whatever it is it gets on my nerves too.

This is ridiculous. Why isn't this an automatic ejection?

Drake is part of the Raptors organization. He is the Global Ambassador. His OVO branding is on the practice facility and several games per year on the court floor also. Its a little bit different than Spike Lee and the Knicks.

I would agree he should probably not bother the coach.

Everything else is just fan stuff. I saw / heard Philly fans yelling at the Raptors as they were leaving the court "Get the f*ck out of here" and pointing to the exit. That's allowed? There was a Philly fan sitting courtside at all the games (Sixth Man guy) with a banner that he raised everytime Philly did anything. He yelled at Kyle Lowry once. So why cant Drake yell at players or wave his arms and cheer? Just because he's courtside? All the other fans are yelling, waving, booing, etc. Or are we bothered by him leaving his seat and walking around? He probably feels more free to do that than your regular fan because of what i wrote at the top of this post. Not saying it's right, but its where we are. Maybe he will stay in his area after this.

I'm not sure going up and down the sideline to the bench area.. in front of the scoring table and touching coaches is equal to a fan sitting or standing in his seating area with a sign. But ok.

I don't give a sh*t if he is some made up position in the team.. if he isnt a coach then he should stay in his seat area. If you want him prowling the sidelines then just make him an assistant coach or something and be done with it. Then we can start talking about how terrible it is for a coach on the opposing team to be jawing at the opposing team like that.

In terms of Philly.. hey be happy in the old days we would have thrown batteries at your team.

That Philly fan who was constantly unfurling the banner was also really annoying, to be fair.

I'm not surprised..we sorta wear the most annoying fans in the world badge seriously. But there is a huge difference between that fan and Drake.. The closest parallel I can draw is Spike Lee and Spike got buried for it outside of NY.. whereas it appears Drake is coasting.

Drake gets a lot of credit for helping break the stigma of Toronto being a terrible destination for basketball players. I despise his music and he seems corny and cringy as hell but his presence and repping has been critical the last several years.

There’s a misconception with basketball players that Toronto is a small-market nothing city in a completely foreign land. Drake’s been key to combatting that behind the scenes to individuals and on camera to the NBA and fans as a whole.

Spike Lee wasn’t actively selling New York as a place to go; it’s New York. Drake is doing his best to sell the team beyond the product on the court.

I REALLY don’t want to defend Drake. Finding is act annoying as hell is perfectly reasonable. I know I’d find it so but as a Raptor’s fan, it’s hilariously obnoxious.

I'm with you, Vector. I don't want to be defending Drake. It's... Drake.

But hey, I'm all for supporting the team and having some swag. Some confidence. Rather than being wimpy Canadians.

Save the old curmudgeonly hating for the old curmudgeon leagues like MLB and the NFL.

I don’t think even assistant coaches are allowed to leave the bench area. I agree he needs to stay at his seat. Stand up if you want but don’t go walking around.

Exactly.

Get Aaron Rodgers on the sidelines of the Bucks games howling at Kawhi.

I only use him as I have no clue who else would be the Milwaukee super Fan.

It’s not hating. I just think it’s lame and he should get tossed for getting in the face of players. The average fan would.

Mostly, though, I think it’s lame. He’s not playing. He’s not remotely good at basketball. I think it’s always lame when fans try to interact with the players as if they’re part of the game.

This isn’t a fresh take. It’s something Bill Simmons and Ryen Russillo have talked about recently. But I think it gets easier to defend ISO players as a playoff series progresses.

Yeah Lowe made the same point on his podcast yesterday. Specifically about Giannis and how he can rely on his spin move during the season since he sees a different team each night and he can surprise them, but in the playoffs after a few games against the same team they know what to expect and his pet moves don't work as well and his lack of shooting hurts more.

Right. It looks like the Raptors might win this. Color me surprised.

Holy crap.

Kawhi is a Dreadnought.
