Dear Stantee...

I'm available for a reshuffle for the moment, too, if needed

Just don't give me bighoppa, I have had him twice in the last 5 years....

Nice work UpTol. Thank level of efficiency and organisation should be applauded.

So many people willing to shift away from the person they have. I wonder which one of them has me

I actually like my Stantee, but I'm willing to shift around if it means more fun for everyone. I do think we need to hard cap it at some point, though.

Definitely want to keep my current victim. I will regret this when it comes to shipping costs, but I have plans.

My victim gave a good wishlist, and given that I am friends with them on social media, gift ideas are plentiful. Just need to finalize what to get them.

I'm on the no-shift platform.
I'm good.

I'm available for shuffling as well if needed. I've got a few ideas, but nothing I'm super jazzed about.

I'm in a similar boat. I'm thrilled by who I have and also happy to shuffle if needed. But a hard cap is probably a good idea. At some point we'll end up with no one able to shuffle anyway as purchases start flowing.

I've got a good idea of what to get my Stantee, despite their dearth of info. But yeah, if changing means more fun for all, switch me.

Congratulations Stantee, I looked at your wishlist and fulfilled my stalking duties and I believe I have found a great gift for this year. I got one from your wishlist and used my own judgement to get you something that I think you will very much enjoy. Once they are here and properly wrapped I will head to the post office and send them to ya.

How the frick did I miss this thread this year? I see several shuffle comments today, does that mean I could jump in without causing too much chaos?

I submitted my info to apply to the mercy of the Stanta powers that be!

Okay. If you volunteered to switch around, check your PMs. I've shuffled some assignments around, and Kiri and Yellek, you're both in.

Now I'm going to go sleep.

Thanks Trichy! You're da best.

We're not worthy. We're not worthy! All hail benevolent Trichy Clause.

Dammit. Looks like Amazon gave me an arrival window between Dec 7 and Dec 24 for the primary part of my gift.

Alrighty victim Stantee, your gifts are en route to your coastal abode! Don't mind the murder butt, he is just there to guard your precious cargo. Ho! Ho! Ho!

As a first-time participant in these shenanigans, this makes me wonder how much information people usually make available for potential Stantas. In the form I submitted I included a link to a Think Geek wishlist and my Steam wish list.

What do others do as Stantees? Do you offer more information than that to make your Stanta's job easier?

On the flip side, how much investigative work do you as a Stanta? Do you stick to items on wish lists? Do you go off the board based on information you've gleaned elsewhere? Do you use aliases to connect on other media platforms or rely on intermediaries?

I realize it will vary by individual. I'm just curious to hear and learn from other participants.

Thanks, trichy, for making all this fun a reality!

Regarding the work as a stanta, I usually try to stick to wish lists if I can't find enough info on them. If I can, like I did this year I will do some investigative work, and try to do something that is influenced, but not on the wishlist. Luckily my victim is very active on social media and GWJ, so finding something that fit seemed to work well. This year I wanted to try and do a theme for my stantee based on what I know about them. So the gift from their wishlist represents one aspect of how I view my stantee, and the gift that wasn't on the wishlist is another aspect of how I view them. Maybe I'm just weird but that's how I operate. Regarding myself I just kinda gave a bunch of random things I'm interested in off of the top of my head as guidelines and hope that it's enough info for stanta. I also left people who can weigh in if stanta needs help. I am more lurker than poster but there are several other Goodjers who know me IRL that have known me for a pretty long time.

I usually link my updated Amazon wishlist and personal site listing what I already have (game-wise), to prevent buying me something I've already got. Then I'll also add non-gaming stuff I'm currently into (cooking/baking, woodworking, electronics), to give them an idea of what I like.

On the stalking side, if I don't know them well, I'll do some deep digging, like finding out from a years-old post what kind of bourbon SallyNasty likes (Eagle Rare Single Barrel), or ask someone they interact with a lot.

That reminds me...I should probably update my Amazon, bgg, and Goodreads profiles at some point this weekend!

My stuff has been processed! Wish I could have boxed it up and made it a bit more personalized, but since it was a cross-border affair I used Amazon in the states to avoid delays and extra fees. My Stantee was very kind with giving lots of good 'stuff I like' context! Hope you like it!

I gave zero context for mine. Mwahahaha.

So fyi for my Stanta, I'll be out of town Sun-Sat next week if you are an early achiever and are done already with shopping. For my Stantee, the plot's thickening....

Seems to be traditional for the CC crew - rabbit only gave the helpful suggestion of "no food please" when he was my victim two years back. Made it a lot of fun, actually, if a bit nerve-wracking.

In a word: yes.

Spoiler:

Seriously. I’ve done all of the above. Almost anything goes, so long as it doesn’t break laws.

And I usually go with the trifecta of Steam, Amazon, and ThinkGeek wishlists. This year, I added GouletPens.com because that’s my current special interest.

I apologize in advance to my stantee, as I’m going to do stuff not remotely on your list, but that I still think YOU will think is cool...
