Hurricane Florence - Evacuate All

Everyone ok? Lots of flooding it looks like.

Rained here solid all day Sat and Sun and several roads closed, but from what I have seen on the local news the coast is much worse off.

National news just said worst flood damage ever for NC, I guess by $$.

We're fine. The storm totally missed Charleston. We had a tiny bit of rain and a little wind.

I'm glad to hear that you're ok Stele.

Dragonfly and I fled inland, stayed in Raleigh/Apex until Saturday morning and then returned. Our home (Kitty Hawk) was largely unaffected other than some minor water damage over a porch facing window, and some mildew smell on said porch.

It could have been so much worse, like it is to the south.

It's kind of crazy that my old hometown (Durham) is getting worse flooding than we had here!

Just a constant light rain Saturday night and all day Sunday a little west of Asheville. Seems like folks east of 95 are not out of it yet.

Very uneventful up here in Virginia. We got a couple nights stay at a Williamsburg hotel thanks to the Navy, but now we've got paperwork to deal with getting reimbursed. Overall we'd have just been better staying put after the storm turned, but oh well.

Central NC was fine -- just a lot of rain. Sun's out now and the water is gone.

Problem is, all that water ran downhill to the east. That part of the world (Fayetteville, Wilmington, Lumberton, Whiteville) won't be right for a long, long time.
