Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Smash All

I wouldn’t call him a pre order bonus, since it allowed for almost 2 months after release. But, it’s semantics at that point.

I think $5 is on par with the others. Isn’t the other DLC $25 / 5 character? Possibly more for individual purchases.

Not quite, each $5.99 (packaged together as $25) DLC includes:

So yeah $5 for just the Piranha Plant character does seem a little expensive, comparatively speaking.

Still hoping for 2B to make an appearance (and for Nier to make it to the Switch ... please Nintendo)

My kids and I are still enjoying the heck out of this game. After bouncing off every previous version I've tried, I'm so glad I decided that I was finally going to buy this one come hell or high water and play it with them. It took a while to get the hang of it, but we're having a blast. They're starting to win a disturbing number of matches, as well! Just this morning my daughter won three in a row after declaring that doing so would entitle the victor to assign everyone's characters for the next bout.

This game is so deep! I got lost in a wiki for a bit just now. I only today learned about fake smash balls, and accidentally stumbled upon Palutena's Guidance because of a thread on Reddit. I mean, I didn't even know about regular taunts before now.

I've put 30 hours into this game and I'm just getting started. Never played a previous Smash more than a few hours, but this definitely feels like a better, more complete game than all of the past ones. Now I'm short-hoppin', fast-fallin', trying to put together a rudimentary combo game and figure out how to edge guard beyond just hurling myself into the void.

Surprisingly my wife enjoys jumping in and just Peach butt-slamming everything from one end of the stage to the other. Ha-chaa ha-chaa ha-chaa ha-chaa ha-chaa ha-chaa ha-chaa ha-chaa

Spoiler:

Lucina is still bae.

My son loves to play Sonic and just do what I believe is called his neutral B attack, which is SUPER annoying to me and his sister. We have started ganging up on him whenever he plays Sonic, which is about half the time.

For my part, I usually go random to try and give the kids a fair chance, rather than playing Link or Samus variations, which are my best characters. I really need to take this game online.

Sounds like my son, although in his case its wobbling with Ice Climbers or just being plain devastating with Inkling

All I want from the 3.0 update is to allow local players to join your Battle Arena. It's beyond stupid that my wife and I on our couch can't host a game for my brother and his girlfriend to join.

My odd collection of 3.0 wishlist items:

- Display GSP for the 2v2 online mode. (I'm pretty sure it is being silently tracked currently; my 13-year-old and I, who play online together frequently, are matched up against much more skilled online opponents when we are playing our mains than when we are playing other characters.)

- Track local stats for player 2 in 2v2 online battles. (That person's # of matches played per character, # of KOs per character, etc. don't seem to be tracked or displayed when looking at the game's statistics section.)

- Alternate between all of the available victory poses in 2v2 online battles. (Right now the same pose seems to be always used for the foreground character and for the background character on the 2v2 online victory screen.)

Obviously, these are all pretty minor / corner-case items. I've been super happy with the gameplay itself!

So a video trailer for the 3.0 updated dropped, covering Joker's moveset and his level. The level changing colors depending on which game's song is playing is a nice touch. Plus stage builder confirmed.

That was effectively a Smash Themed Nintendo Direct.

Joker's Final Smash is perfect.

I'm impressed by the new options in the level creator. I probably won't mess with them since I don't particularly enjoy making things, but I can't wait to see what people come up with.

And the patch comes out tomorrow. This works out well for me, since I'm right at the end of my campaign of XCOM 2, so diving back into Smash will be a good change of pace.

Haven't gotten to see the trailer yet. Stage editor sounds cool though! Will I be able to see other people's creations (like Mario Maker)? Cause that sounds fun!

I've purposefully taken quite a break from Smash so I should be able to really appreciate the new content.

It looks like once someone uploads a stage, anyone can then download it and play on it. Not sure how robust the feature set for actually finding stages will be, though

There's also some photo and video editing creation and sharing features added, but the shareable custom stages is the big one to me.

I'm sure there will be a 12 or 16 digit code to share stages because Nintendo.

They mentioned sorting abilities for both shared videos and shared stages. However, it seems like they really want you to use their Nintendo Online Phone App, which may be more or less convenient than numerical codes.

By the way, for anyone else that pre-ordered/bought the game digitally, were there any additional steps you took for registration? A friend of mine told me Piranha Plant just showed up and didn't require additional downloading or unlocking, but I didn't see him when I last played. As far as I'm aware all digital purchases are registered automatically, and I was also a digital pre-order, so I'm wondering if I missed a step somewhere. I haven't checked back since then.

I just did a quick search on my email and I have a download code for Piranha Plant. Looks like it's valid till the end of June, so you have time. I have no memory of getting that email or what I did with the code though!

Re: creating stages, don't expect anything amazing from me, but I'd love to see what other people come up with. The trailer made it look like you could have a lot of fun with it.

I need to use that code before it’s too late.

Well that was pathetically obvious. Code redeemed, fighter downloaded.

I think I'm just comparing it to what was in Brawl, which I remember being pretty barebones. Simply having more variety of backgrounds and some of these scriptable moving platforms feels like a big step up to me.
