You might notice a fifty percent reduction in the number of PC titles coming out this week. I’m torn. On the one hand, vetting the list was a lot faster this week, but on the other the reduction seems to have come mostly from the ranks of the games that are interesting to me. Maybe next week we’ll be back on pace.

Fortunately, the Nintendo Switch is bringing the noise this week, and I'm overlooking some worthy titles from other platforms (like Arcane Golf) off the list just to celebrate the Nintendo-ness of this week’s release list.

Hello Neighbor comes to the Switch, which I mention mainly because I think an Amiibo of Mart would be rad. Almost as rad as the ability to palette-swap Mario in would be, which I know will never be but still want with all my heart. On second thought, maybe Luigi would be better. He already owns a mansion, and he’s got the death stare down pat. Make it happen, Tinybuild!

Element bills itself as a “real-time strategy game for people who don’t have time to play RTS games.” As a person who falls neatly into that category, and as a person who has played a lot more RTS games than I’ve enjoyed, color me intrigued.

Candle and the Power of the Flame caught my attention with a gorgeous water-colored art style. You play as a little potato man who has to keep a candle lit through a world of rain and drafts. Again, great visuals and a fun concept bring something to the list.

Tiny Hands Adventure features an adorable Tyrannosaurus rex (in a baseball cap!), who’s embarrassed by the size of his arms. This being a video game, he embarks on a quest for prosthetics in a game that’s bound to feature humor, swappable weapons, and a poignant third act that emphasizes being happy with how you were born. Or an unstoppable T-rex with missile-launcher arms. It’s win-win, really.

Finally, we come to my game of the week, which I can’t talk about for reasons that will eventually become clear. Instead, I’ll pick a different game that would be my game of the week if the one I’m not allowed to talk about weren’t coming out.

Semblance is a two-dimensional platformer where your character has the ability to warp the level and itself into whatever shape you need to solve the problem you’re currently facing. I dig the friendly art style and the novel approach to platforming enough to make it my game of the week.

I keep thinking I’m immune to the beat’em up revival, but it is irrepressible. Like baby turtles scuttling across a beach, sheer force of numbers means that some make it into the ocean of my intrigue.

This week’s interesting turtle is more niche than others – Bud Spencer & Terence Hill: Slaps And Beans is based on the classic Italian action-comedy duo from the '60s to '80s. Here’s a sampler of their work. Think The Good the Bad and the Ugly meets the Three Stooges, or something. Anyhoo, this game incorporates their signature slapstick fighting styles, as well as the vibe of their humour. It’s getting a console release after coming out on PC last year, so it must be kinda good.

Otherwise, I’m all about The Banner Saga 3. This is going to wrap up the story, taking into account all the decisions you’ve made along the way. It will make you feel like it’s October 2003 again, because you will feel that The Darkness is everywhere. The focus has narrowed primarily to one city: Arberrang, which will also dynamically react to your decisions during the game. The 3rd entry in a trilogy such as this doesn’t need to re-invent its mechanics, nor add an open world or multiplayer mode. It just needs to keep doing what it’s been doing and finish the story as strongly as it has been telling it so far. A must-have for anyone who’s been following this series. GOTW.

WoW dropped it’s pre-patch for the next expansion, so there’s a lot of re-balancing of talents and gnashing of teeth for me to do this week. But we have plenty of other worlds to venture out into.

For those of you who don’t necessarily need to get off my lawn, Dangerous Skies 80's edition and Aces of the Luftwaffe: Squadron are old-school bullet hells that hearken back to the days when fun was after school and measured in quarters.

If you’re looking for something in more than two dimensions, Airheart: Tales of Broken Wings is an aerial action game with a crafting mechanic that lets you fight and build your own aircraft to fulfill missions and help Amelia find her way to the edge of the world.

And taking it to the other end of the world for subtle psychological horror, I’d give Narcosis a try. You are an industrial diver, trapped deep in the Pacific Ocean. You are short on oxygen and tools to survive. There’s no shadowy conspiracy, just the crushing deep and your own indomitable will to survive the pressure and surface before you run out of supplies. It’s available in VR, but I don’t think I could handle it. It gets my nod for GOTW.

I'm pretty excited for No Man's Sky big update NEXT, due out tomorrow.

Y'all missed War Tech Fighters, coming out on 7/25.

Megaman X Legacy Collection is tempting but apart from that it looks like a quiet week on Switch. No harm though, I've got lots to play as is!
