What class/mythic path combos are people thinking about? I'm looking at :
Oracle/Angel (Either Fire blaster or Melee Battle)
Slayer/Azata
Dwarf Paladin/aeon
For Lich either Eldrich Scion Magus or Witch winter witch
Devil Monster Tactician
I think I saw in a youtube video somewhere that there is a witch talent, feat or patron skill that gives them a pet.
If so, I am going halfling hagbound witch so I can go mounted combat with all the str bonuses and claw attacks of the hag and throw spells and hexes on top
If there isn't a way to get a pet as a witch, then I will at least 1 dump into cavalier. I love that there is a real perk for halfling or gnome since their small size allows them to ride mounts earlier (level 1 even)
Other than that, bloodrager sounds interesting. The same can be said for hunter, arcanist and quite a few of the archetypes for the traditional classes.
Mythic paths are a mystery to me. So I will have to figure it out as it goes. I really like lich, but it seems there is a bit of work involved so it may have to wait. I watched a video on the trickster path and it actually sounds pretty awesome. (summon beer elemental? yes please!)
I had no idea this existed until I read about it in the POE 2 thread. Tagging this to come back to later as it sounds like the perfect game for me.
For sure!

I don't know if you saw it but there's a halfling specific cavalier subclass.

I've got a couple dozen ideas. I have no idea how I'm going to narrow it down, frankly.
The three mythic paths that hold the most interest are Angel, Azata, and Aeon, but I'm looking at pretty much all the divine/good-flavored classes. Cleric, Paladin, Inquisitor, Oracle, and Warpriest all look fun for various reasons. I've also got an eye on the redeemed fiend subclass of bloodrager, and the two Hellknight prestige classes could be fun with a resolutely good character who just uses them for extra anti-demon punch (calling that concept "Heaven's Hellion," which is a phrase that appeared on the jacket of an angel in some art for the In Nomine TTRPG). I'm a little disappointed that the orders of the Pike* and Torrent aren't in there, though; the kidnap-victim-rescuing Order of the Torrent in particular are straight-up good guys in scary armor.
*Looks like the order of the Pike MIGHT be in there as a Cavalier subclass, but it seems unlikely that they'll get much story content.
I have joked with friends and gamer coworkers that starving to death in front of the character creation screens is going to be a real danger with WotR.
I backed the game on KS, so I've got my key activated and I'm just counting down the time until Thursday when i can actually play it!

I know, right? I might get 100+ hours out of the character creator making characters that never get played.
Regarding pikes, since they are not in the game, those specifics are applied to spears as best I have understood from videos and wikis.
Oh and preloading has started and the keys are in if you pre-ordered at GMG

For the Kickstarter as well!
Pre-loading just finished on Steam. Been playing a bunch of Beneath the Stolen Lands with Call of the Wild. Looking forward to release of WotR, just wish it wasn't during my busy on-call month.
I played about 120 hours in the various beta phases and overall I would say the game was far less buggy than Kingmaker although Beta phase 3 was a step back from phase 2 in the bugginess department.
Wracking my brain about witches and I can't recall a way for them to get a mount but I could be wrong. I would be careful using a mount if it isn't being kept up level wise. At least in the beta when mounted if an enemy attacked you it targeted the mount thus an underleveled mount would drop fast.
I wonder if I am confusing the witch for the brown fur arcanist?
I thought it was something like a patron power/feat/something.
If I have to dip cavalier, then I'll do it. Maybe even a few levels since they are the only class with mounted combat bonuses.
I just like the idea of the mounted combat for the reasons you stated: the mount takes the hits. Sure I'll probably have to take boon companion but the allure of my mount taking hits while my flimsy hag is flinging her claws with her str bonuses! (and casting spells) Which begs the question if there are weapon restrictions or if no weapons are allowed with claws...
edit: Oh and there is a day 1 patch BTW.

There is also a Bloodrider Bloodrager.

Looks like you can start the day 1 patch now.
Should this thread be renamed to be more inclusive of both (all?) of the Pathfinder video games, or should we spin off a new one for WotR?
There is the bloodrager bloodrider...
Damn it! No more confusion, heh.
I have solved my problem. I am going to create a character that has one level of every class. Which means by level 20, I will have to decide which of the 5 remaining classes I won't pick. Do I need bard and skald? Do I need shaman and oracle and cleric and inquisitor? (I am leaning yes...)

You could go Legend and have 40 levels to play with.
Ooh and I can circle back around. Everything is falling into place nicely ;P
I preloaded the day one patch about a half hour ago. Sadly, I won't be able to play for another 7 hours. (unless I squeeze in a half hour at lunch)
OMG, at some point I am going to have to try to get "The Swarm that Walks" mythic path. It is a late game path and has specific steps. But it seems SO cool!
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous just unlocked on Steam. It's playable.

It's gonna be a long 6.5 hours or so until I get home this evening.

Nice!
It's playable.
This part... remains to be seen.
I am holding out on hitting buy until I hear from others as to how well the game hangs together.

Rich on the podcast played the beta and said that was in a pretty good state. Still, I don't begrudge you your caution.
Whether or not it works won't save you.
I am paralyzed by the class selection screen. So many amazing choices.
I think I would have settled on arcane rider if I could choose a companion other than horse. I am eyeing going with the aforementioned halfling (small) to see if I can ride a giant centipede (medium).
The witches look fantastic and not just because hexes look so amazing that I don't know if I can choose a class without them. (some classes other than witch get hexes thankfully) Witch of the Veil looks incredible. Elemental Witch and Ley Line Witch look no less amazing.
Incense synthesizer seems really cool for alchemist.
I mean it goes on and on...

I'm sitting here on a slow day at work perusing the wiki and trying to make up my mind.
I enjoy playing good-aligned characters, so that helps a little, but yeah, the sheer volume of possible builds is jaw-dropping and daunting.
I may wind up skipping companions just so I can design more characters this time out.
Just when I was itching for another crpg...didn't realise a new Pathfinder game was released
I think I stalled on finishing Kingmaker close to the end. Not sure I'll pick it back up, might go straight to the new game.
Once they've got a feel for this, can someone tell me how different this is to the original game? I lost traction with that thanks to the overly complicated kingdom management side and the fact the storyline takes a massive pause after the first real act.
Is this any different or is it still all about having an encyclopedic knowledge of pathfinder builds and the critical importance of having a viable character build?

My sense from everything I've read (and I backed it on Kickstarter, so I've seen a fair bit) is that it's even more option-heavy than the first game, but I definitely recall something being said about making it more accessible, too. Kingdom management is gone, but apparently you're now managing a crusade against the abyss, so whether that's easier or harder to keep up with remains to be seen.
Rich seemed to have a pretty solid handle on it and was happy with it when he talked about it on the podcast a couple weeks back.

I never finished Kingmaker - I got to the end of the game, realized I hadn't researched enough curses, and got hit with an enormous global debuff. At that point, I was pretty much done. Still enjoyed my time with it, though.
They added turn based combat, and unlike Pillars you can switch back and forth, mid-game.
