Spider-Man Catch-All

Oh! The second DLC is out today!

Guess I can stop trying to figure out what to play today.

Got a PS4 Pro recently and dove immediately into Spider-Man. Absolutely loved it. Got 100% in the main game and all the DLC. The DLC was a bit of a struggle so I've soured on the game a bit but I imagine that'll fade over time.

I enjoyed the bit of DLC i've played, 1/3 so far, but i also feel like having finished them game and coming back to the DLC after a break helped with that. I don't know i would have enjoyed it as much if i had played it right on the heels of the main story

I own the other 2 DLC i'm just waiting to finish RDR2 before i jump back it, the two control schemes are way too jarring to move back and forth between the games.

I liked the first DLC and went right into it because I just wanted to keep playing. Which was fine but each DLC after that increased in difficulty. I really could have used a break to maybe enjoy it more but I wasn't sure I'd be able to beat the DLC if let those reflexes reset. So I powered through which was hard because I friggin' hate Screwball.

Just finished the main story, enjoyed it immensely. Now I read two recent thumbs up for the DLC. Thanks for nothin', you filthy enablers.

I've heard widely different reviews of the DLC. It seems your mileage may vary. I've heard some that acted like it was better than the full game and others that reported it to be an entire waste of money.

Spider-buddies.

Still relatively new to the game. I’m level 11. I have a bit of analysis paralysis on what tier 2 skills to purchase. Any favorite skills to recommend?

Skills that yank out weapons are really useful. I also picked up the one that increased the dodge window. Eventually you will unlock everything, so I prioritized skills that made the combat easier to manage.

Well at least one of the DLC involves the quite divisive Spider-Cop voice. so that may have something to do with it.

Don't worry too much, you will have them all. Do what you find find comes naturally.

Thank you. Loving the game.

I just started in earnest last weekend, and I am loving the game. New York feels alive and it's so much fun just to swing around and hunt for collectibles, but the story and combat (what I've seen so far) is pretty engaging too. In a sign of how great the traversal looks and feels, last night my wife asked if she could borrow the controller for 5 minutes and just swing around a bit.

Great game. I’m about half-way through.

My son (age 6) deleted my save file! I don’t have PSN plus or whatever so there is no cloud save and googling around found no way to undelete a file. I was at at around 20%. Grrrr

Started a new game, and I don’t see any way to copy my current game into the other Save Game slots? So that if he deletes one I’ll have another? Is that possible to do?

They make it way way too easy to delete a file in this game!

If you have a USB drive, you can go to Settings->Application Data Management, and make a backup to USB or the cloud (if you had PS+).

Cool. So I don’t need PS+ to make a USB backup?

Boo! That’s terrible.

I know you can manually save, which I’ve been doing periodically. But it also wouldn’t surprise me if the manual saves are nested under the one, single save file. If that’s the case, manual saves might not actually address your problem.

On a totally different note, I’ve unlocked the ability that lets you do air tricks, but can’t seem to figure out how to work them. When I press circle or triangle and the left joystick, I just end up steering as I jump or dive. Any hints on how to get this to work?

If I remember right, it's Circle AND Triangle plus a direction. Have to press both.

Oh, like a finisher. I’ll give that a try. Thanks!

Well, I just cleared Act I this weekend! Still loving it.

Spoiler:

I really enjoyed the scene between Miles and Peter after Miles’ father was killed. It felt pretty real to have Peter there, wanting to comfort Miles but unable to say much, ans Miles’ reactions to Peter made total sense.

Scenes like those totally make me agree with one YouTuber who describes the game as “my favorite Spider-Man movie:

I’m nearing the end of Spider-Man. Great game. Wow.
Wondering about the DLC or if I should take a break and start Assasin’s Creed Odyssey. Hmm

The DLC is ok, a bit more of the same (though I wasn't as big a fan of the story).

YMMV, but I think if you gave it a break and came back to it you'd be fine.

My advice also, i quite enjoyed the DLC, but i think it might be tiresome had i done it right on the heels of the full game

Warning about the DLC. It introduces brutes with chainguns that are very difficult, up to 3 at once in some challenges, so there's no shame in dropping to the easiest difficulty.

Oh yea, those guys can go eat a biiiiig old bag of... webs

Yeah, I jumped back into the DLC and I had last beat NewGame+ on the hardest difficulty. To the best of my knowledge, if you have already done that, I don't think dropping the difficulty changes anything or causes you to miss out on any trophies. I just was banging my head up against this DLC so much...and I am no slouch after beating the game twice.

The NG+ on Ultimate is the only difficulty-related one. Everything else, unless you're really into the combat system and want to rack up Batmanesque 200-hit combos, just play on the easiest possible.

I hope they put this DLC on sale sometime soon...I loved this game but definitely wasn't ready for more when it first came out. Whenever I can pick up the DLC for $5-10 I'll be sure to do so.

Does the DLC pretty much just run you through a bunch of new story missions, or is there also some new open world / exploration content to tackle?

Just the regular brutes killed much of my interest in this game, to the point that I never finished it. Good to know that the DLC is a pass.
