Didn’t Minecraft already come out on the Switch? I could have sworn I barely failed to double-dip on that when the system launched. Maybe I’m thinking of some other voxel-based survival-builder game. Goodness knows there’ve been enough of them.

For my game of the week there are a number of worthy candidates. New Gundam Breaker appears to offer the promise that the Armored Core series repeatedly fails to deliver for me: a mech-building game where the mech is actually fun to pilot. Chris would probably pick that (It’s either that or or Anima colon The Subtitle ndash The Longer Subtitle semicolon The Expensive Version on the Switch), or he would if Mario Tennis wasn’t coming out this week.

As for myself, I’m in a blue-sky mood these days. So as much as I appreciate Apostasy’s body-positive art direction and Haimrik’s attempt to remind everyone that words mean things, I’m going to opt for chibi overload. Suzy Cube is a 3D platformer that puts me in mind of a Woodle Tree Adventures with a bigger budget. I don’t see how you can turn down a game that promises “smiles around every corner” in its own ad copy.

Suzy Cube shapes up to be my game of the week.

The shadow of E3 is still looming large, albeit in the rearview mirror, and it feels as if the console publishers are using the lull to sneak out some stuff they weren’t all that committed to marketing heavily anyway.

Ever want to play Guitar Hero without cumbersome fake instruments? Musynx has you covered, if the song list is to your taste.

New Gundam Breaker could give you a mech fix while you wait for a BATTLETECH patch. But I’m not bitter. For me, Paradox games are just something that happens to other people.

The Lost Child is a JRPG set mostly around modern-day Tokyo, by the folks who made El Shaddai. Its lore is Lovercraftian, but with angels to balance out all those eldritch demons. As to the combat and systems, you capture beasties to use them in fights – beyond that, I don’t have the chops to evaluate it.

So much for new releases. However, Darkest Dungeon gets its first chunk of DLC in about a year, The Color of Madness. It offers new trinkets, new districts, new quests, new bosses, new quirks (but no new heroes), new tunez and a horde mode. Sounds like a good excuse to jump back in. DLCOTW.

Looking through the list made me learn what "vatnik" is, and it's something like a term for a low-class right winger in Russia. It comes from the word for a fairly cheap kind of stuffed winter coat. Vatnik Simulator - A Russian Patriot Game seems mostly about counting how much you've drank while receiving slogans exhorting you to patriotism and alcoholism.

You know, in case you feel like you need that in your life.

But I don't understand why Debit And Credit: A Walk Through Accounting Hell isn't getting love. Are you telling me neither Greg nor Felix want to learn the first half of Accounting Principles? I might not spend my day in the accounting department, but running IT means it's always worth staying on the CFO's good side. GOTW, just in case.

Here's the list, now in release-date order!

Minecraft is already out on Switch, but digital only. This is the physical release, which they held off on until they could get the game caught up with the version on other systems. Minecraft had a rather large update recently and now it'll be on the physical release instead of as a mandatory download.

Carly and the Reaperman looks interesting...it's a co-op game where one player is in VR, the other player is using a controller on the monitor.

Mario Tennis for me this week along with anything I pick up in the Steam Summer Sale.
