For State of Decay 2, try going to settings and turning the multiplayer to "Off", maybe that'll help performance
Re: Uncanny Valley - We've got a long way to go on skin/cloth/hair technology. Eye tech seems to largely be bridged with good photo scanning. But there's still not enough variety for in-game character face shapes/symmetry/structure. A speedtree-esque breakthrough for hair/cloth/skin is needed to really dive into the valley.
