The Division 2 - Catch All

Like the world building and graphics look great, guns feel good (apart from that age old targeting mess … don't make the reticule turn red if, when I press fire, my bullets will be going into the door frame in front of me, not the tartget); the general trash mobs and elites are fine but OMG I still hate the bosses so much (the laboratory mission had me doing a Dark Souls uninstall and throwing away my password!). I don't mind abusive games (Elite: Dangerous, Everquest and Black Desert say hello...) but bullet sponges always get my back up …

+1 F*ck that FBI lab

I’m in on Xbox due to the beta. Working my way up to max out so I get all the doodads

I played for short of an hour.

I didn’t run into any bugs, rescued the girl, and that’s it. It’s more Division

It runs, but I get parts where it freezes for a second or 2, then speeds to catch up - playing around with the graphics settings might be able to solve that.

I’ve found it harder to see anything - lootables seem to need to be closer before I see them as a lootable. I’ve found enemies to be MUCH harder to pick out - I think it’s the 100x increase in clutter (“detail”).

Is it me or does everything look.... smaller? Has “AAA gaming” passed me (and my measly 22” LCD) by?

Hopefully I can poke around at it a little more, to figure out if it will be “actually playable” or just die every time thing get hectic.

Do drops seem reduced in the open beta for anyone else?
I'm level 5.5 and it seems like drops have been reduced 40-50%
Also the chem launcher could be awesome but the mechanics
seem really weird. I don't need three shots especially with the
one that drops a cloud of gas that can ignite. I would have much
preferred it to act like grenades do. Have these devs not played
Diablo 3 to see how skills with charges should work?

Apples and Oranges. They just need to change the sensitivity on the controls.

Loot seems normal. Granted i was primarily playing the pvp deathmatch mode, but was getting 2-3 crates per match. Tons of items from missions.

So I know it's a Beta, but lots of bugs still here. Crashed a few times on me too and I've had sound drop out quite a lot. I've put settings on Medium as I've seen lots of reports about CPU utilisation and mine was up around 80-100% and I believe that's what was causing the stuttering.

I've got an Intel i5 4690K 3.5GHz so I believe it's probably time for an update. GTX 1070 seems ok, but cpu is bottlenecking and causing the drops. That plus my ultrawide 34 inch monitor runs at 3440 x 1440 so yeah I guess if I want nice high frame rates and pretty graphics then I'm going to have to fork out for new Mobo, CPU and RAM. Time to start saving.

In the meantime, Medium isn't too bad and it's only out in the main exploring area that it drops. Overall I like the game. Level 8 with Purples and Blues and been the the Dark Zone a few times too. Pretty sure I'm going to get it now.

Deer are the new dogs.

The new setting is boring. Moving from winter to spring/summer just makes the game look like generic shooter #82.

Luckily the gameplay is intact.

Are there lists of who is playing on which platform? Since this is gwj I assume most will be pc. I’ll be on PS4 and looking for players who don’t mind a casual slower pace.

Winter is Coming?

J/K I sort of agree with that but there are a couple of things that I really enjoy about the new setting. I am not wholly familiar with DC but I have been there enough and the last time was less than 2 years ago. So it really fills like DC rather than a video game with some DC landmarks.
Also, the clutter and overgrowth is alive. I mean it really sets the mood for me. The urban garden settlements definitely contribute to this.
Another thing is that people are "ugly". Well not really ugly but they sure are hardened and much more so than the first game. I think they went a long way to make everyone (especially bad guys) look like survivors rather than B movie archetypes. Even my agent (that I spent quite some time in the randomizer finding) is not going to win any beauty contests or fashion shows.

We have clans now so maybe we don't need a list of players. Also, check discord, there are a lot of people waiting for this game

I finished all of the missions for the various beta doo dads. Im glad I preordered and am looking forward to the 12th. The game seems harder than the 1st. You definitely need to be more tactical and find good kill zones and fall back points. Enemies seem more bullet spongey. Whole magazines to take down regular enemies. Not sure how you get the various cosmetics like the 1st one, never found a citizen that needed something or a closet etc... I enjoyed the exploring but the game feels like it's really pushing you to team up with the way the enemies are stacked in power compared to you.

You had to do this in the first one after patch 1.8. You couldn't just face tank or not take advantage of cover like you used to.

Agreed, but I think the game is definitely pushing you to play in a group. What's the max size of a group? I had a good time playing in a duo, but noticed the missions are only relevant to the party lead.

I played the Closed beta just fine solo - The bosses were a bit annoying, but nothing too bad.

Did they up the damage soaking in the open beta?

They definitely recommend to do the main missions as a group unless you gear up first. It's the whole reason for the matchmaking system.

Max size is 4 except for the upcoming raids, which will be 8

They definitely make you use grenades more in the early game. You don't have to but you will die less and the enemy is even smarter than the first game in subtle ways. They don't pop up their heads in regular intervals if you have them in your sights. That is what grenades are for. You just have to get close and they will pop out of cover. Also grenades are great for bosses as they tend to be pretty arrogant as far as your threat.

I am really anxious to try the firefly and the drone with the turret. Well and the flamethrower turret is always going to be awesome. But the regular turret is so powerful that I can only imagine being able to pin enemies down with it and the machine gun drone.

But I feel like they did something subtly more strategic with how guns react to the new armor system. Machine guns (and possibly shotguns get some penetration?) are definitely the way to take down bosses. They will eat through armor much quicker than plinking at it with rifles.

Another thing I noticed that I didn't in the closed beta is that level 7-8 regular enemies started having armor. typically it would damper your first few hits before chewing through them anywhere on the body. It wasn't marked on their health bars like on bosses that I could see.

It's marked, looks lile a little greenish yellow line beneath their health bar. I've only seen it on the chargers.

Light machine guns do wonders on most opponents. I had a heck of a time on the end game robot, but I think I killed it with a grenade that exploded underneath it. The enemies with the continuous rc cars and drones can die in a fire, thanks.

I thought the green bar was like a stim? A lot of times the chargers seem to drink something before they charge. I could definitely be wrong. Those guys are bastards.

I do enjoy shooting those trucks but every now and then they can hurt really bad

I enjoyed what I played (2hrs or so of the beta). The game definitely left me exciting eager to play the full version. Unlike Anthem which was a total bummer in my opinion. I'll definitely be purchasing it. Right now I'm debating whether or not I should get the year 1 pass with the gold edition. Did they say what content they will be putting out in year 1?

Also, anyone out there is planning on playing on Xbox? Add me, GT: Tuna. Cheers!

I did not get a chance to unlock all the digital prizes for the open beta, but played a few minutes. Looking forward to release and will be playing on Xbox One. Feel free to send me a friend request.
Who is setting up the Xbox clan?

I'll be playing on the PC. Ranalin I assume you'll be creating the clan?

I was going to say ranalin (just like SpyNavy), who's in the Discord talking about it. I'll also be joining the clan on XB1.

I believe so, but If someone beats me to it they're welcome to.

Nah you do it, so we have consistency and a unified way going forward. I know you'll stick with it throughout its life cycle. Are you doing the early access?

This last test i focused on the DZ and the quickplay PvP mode. I did do the new missions that weren't in the last test, but that's it.

How was PVP, I didn't do it. Just the Dark Zone East mission.

Cover is king and the strafing mechanic feels 'off' and i think it's intentional. Been trying to track down the video talking about that.

They're both going to be solid source of loot.

That's good. It seemed like the leveling mechanic, at least in the Dark Zone worked pretty well. What was the loot mechanic in the PVP conquest mode?
