The Division 2 - Catch All

I just run a DPS AR build with Coyotes Mask and Nemesis Sniper as exotics and Unbreakable(vest) and Composure(back) talents most of the time. My friend runs a Rifle build that he enjoys with Bakers Dozen rifle. Seeker mines are pretty useless now if that is what you were happening to run from when they were meta. CC builds were nerfed across the board a short bit ago but really CC is not needed if your group is semi optimized gear. CC really makes every difficulty trivial except Legendary.

Lots of builds work if time is taken to get stats and bonuses tweaked.

Well sounds like my build will need redone.

So how is the new tower mode?

It is sorta like Underground from Div1 but you go up instead of forward. Only played it briefly so far but I did not think it would be something I would gravitate towards on a regular. Going through 10 floors to get to a boss was pretty repetitive and not very random. Same task on multiple floors.

Once I finish the first Bounty Target for the new season will play though it more to advance higher up the tower and unlock Legendary start point. So jury is still out but wasn't blown away by it as fun. The new Hunter's set looks fun and will make a build with that.

I've tried a few variations of the hunter set but have only had mixed luck. I tried being a face-hugging shotgun tank but it's not really my playstyle (and my gear isn't particularly optimized enough to run challenging with three directives, which is what my group runs)... so I died a lot.

I've settled on 4 pieces hunter (mask, chest, holster, backpack) with a triple god rolled Sokolov set of gloves and triple god rolled Fox's Prayer kneepads. I paired this up with a Dark Winter (perfect killer .45 Vector SMG, though I may switch this eventually for a better .45 Vector with a better talent for non-crit builds) and... I'm still working on the secondary weapon. The new named shotgun, The Mop is OK, but the ROF is low and I get caught in reloads often. I do pretty well with a Tsunami (named shotgun with perfect pummel). Tonight I'm trying out a full god rolled black market RPK with close and personal. The set is thankfully flexible enough to allow me to play by rushing forward and grabbing close cover, instead of trying to tank in the open, and small changes can help me focus on different weapons until I find something that fits my playstyle with it.

I'm still more fond of Eclipse, or Negotiator's, but it's proving to be an interesting change of pace for me so far.

Do you have the exotic SMG Lady Death? That thing it pretty fun when playing a more rush approach. That is what I will start with when I get my Hunter set setup in the next day or two.

Yeah, I do. I tried it a little but couldn't really get used to it, but to be fair I haven't really used it outside of that build either. And I tried it when I was still geared more towards shotguns than SMGs.

Edit: Tried Lady Death last night, it works well with my current build but I don't care for having to run around so much. I'm a bit squishy and it puts me in the open a lot.

I did switch over to Chatterbox at one point with absolutely hilarious results. Our group has been able to trigger a bit of a bug with elite resource convoys that just gets funnier the longer it goes on... Essentially if you catch one where the enemies spawn in the back of a box truck and you kill them before anyone can get out, you can get a couple dozen waves of enemies to come out of the back of one truck. We'll basically rush it, and stand at the back like a firing squad just executing waves of enemies over and over and over again. Laughing maniacally the entire time.

Chatterbox proved to be far more useful for that, as the ROF increase and ammo returned just helped me cut through them like they were nothing (and this is on Challenging), and because they're all grouped together every kill disorients everyone in the truck... so no one can shoot back at us. Eventually they stop spawning, but it takes a while. And the whole time you're mowing them down, you're getting XP... it's not a ton per kill, but it adds up.

Hi everyone,

Three friends and I have been having a lot of fun with Div 2. We have our own little clan and have been doing predominantly heroic PVE. Want to do some raids but you know, 4 people. So I thought I’d post here and see if anyone would like to come raid with us. We primarily play together Sunday from 7:30p (PST) to 9:30. If this isn’t the right place for this type of request please point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

I've picked the game back up of late, but I don't think I have the gear for the raid and that is *way* too late for me anyway, but hey bumping the thread again. Maybe someone else will be able to join.

I would love a good reason to get back to this game. What system are you playing on?

PC

Buddy and I are working our way through Div 2, and are working on the black tusk invasion. Is there any real reason to finish it? Or should we just head to New York.

Are you already up to Level 30? Story wise I think it is intended to finish DC first (from what I recall) but otherwise if you're level 30 already you should be fine in NY.

We are level 30 yes.

So before WoNY you would do the invasion stuff to go from World Tier 1 to World Tier 5 (each step bumps you up), and WT5 was the end game. While that's no longer a thing, I think there is a set quest line that has you go through literally all the strongholds before doing Tidal Basin the first time, but honestly I can't remember the last time my group logged on and did invaded content on purpose. It's fairly easily ignorable (sometimes an outright pain), so moving on to NY is probably better anyway. You'll get locked in to NY until you finish the WoNY, so you won't be missing anything, but you might need to do it when you get back to DC.

I've actually done the WoNY, my buddy hasn't. I just couldn't remember if we could do the strongholds when we return to NY or not.

WoNY is onsale on the Playstation Store for $8.99 until Jan. 9th. I just picked it up this morning... damn, it is HARD!

(Of course, it doesn't help that I haven't played since a couple of months after the original launch, but still. HARD!)

Yeah, going into WoNY with DC gear is really, really rough. My group could speedrun the missions on Challenging after a while, but it took a lot of grinding and optimization before we could really just blaze through them. And even then, I'd normally only go back to NY for seasonal stuff.

Don't try to solo the last story mission. Matchmake for it, and hope someone has a pulse jammer.

Relevant to this thread, the announcement that Massive is working on a Star Wars game suggests folks shouldn't be holding their breath for The Division 3. I liked both Division games a lot, but the whole paramilitary invasion of US cities following a deadly pandemic plot felt a bit grim before all of this, feels hard to imagine how they could make another any time soon. But if Massive is building something loosely like The Division but set in the Star Wars universe, count me in.

A post-ROTJ setting would have a similar feel. The Empire has fallen and the New Republic is trying to restore order. Crimelords and Empire officers turned warlords take the place of the gangs.

While I don't think this concept sounds totally unenjoyable, I really hope that isn't what Massive's SW title is because Ubisoft already takes a lot of crap (some of it deserved) for releasing the same open-world game over and over with different skins on it.
