Post show co-op mission.

and a follow up state of the game here:

I am just hoping that at higher levels the baddies are a little less bullet sponges.

I am all for some challange, but there is a difference between a problem to think through and just intermittently hitting LMB and ducking.

I wish this game would hurry up and arrive.

Anyone get an email for this weekend?

I did. Have you tried it yet?

Nope. Didn't get in, but saw that they were testing starting this weekend.

Rumor that Closed Beta will be the weekend of the 18th

Damnit I hope GMG gets me my key soon.
I want in on the closed beta. This comes out in March no?

News out today that The Division 2 will not release on Steam, just Ubisoft's store and Epic Games Store. The implications are really interesting.

GWJ is registered as a creator on the Epic Store so if you use the code 'GamersWithJobs' when you buy games there or this link for The Division 2 in particular we get a little piece of the action. Neat! We'll see if this works or not.

Side note, I didn't know this creator thing was a thing one could do, but now I've signed up. Thanks!

Sad. It not being on Steam means I will not be paying money to buy it (and so not playing it) unless it's an insane sale / ends up on Humble Monthly like Destiny 2. Same with Origin, Epic, and Blizzard. GOG, Humble, and Green Man Gaming are already a stretch and I typically pass on any sale they post, even when it activates on Steam just because I have Steam wallet money, and I have so much to play on Steam, not buying games elsewhere doesn't hold me back at all. I'm glad there are choices, I just don't use them and in cases like EA, I actively don't want to since I'm reminded of how obnoxious their launcher can be when I want to do anything other than play the game. Each time I go back thinking, surely it's all in my head, having forgotten the reasons, and then I'm proven justified with EA each time. Granted, I use the Steam website for almost all transactions.

That said, I have no qualms being a leech on all these storefronts / servers and playing the games they give away for free and then forgetting the stores / launchers exist until the next free game. That way, I figure they're taking a net negative from me and it might make them think twice about their decisions (not likely, since I'm probably alone on this).

Maybe this is just a topic that deserves it's own thread (and it probably already is and I haven't seen it).

*mod*

Yeah, that should probably have its own thread.

The first Division launch sealed the deal for me to NEVER buy an Ubi game through Steam again. They botched it that bad.

I'll take a look at Epic and see how they're set up and maybe gamble on them.

Remember that you can buy it on the Ubi store and get 20% discount with the Ubi coins or whatever the name is.

Uplay has always worked fine for me. Never caused me any issues. I honestly think Steam is as equally annoying than the other launchers. But what do I know.

I think that's a part of the issue, and I'm REALLY not looking forward to the impending "Launcher Wars" where every publisher feels the need to run a launcher. Then they all feel the need to add friends, and chat, and overlays, and tools for streaming, and "Oh, you weren't really using that RAM, were you?"

The whole thing leaves me torn between the fact that competition is good for the consumer (in the long run, usually), but having to run a half-dozen launchers to find my games, with each of them nibbling at the resources that my games need to run just feels. . . . foreboding.

Aren't we already there though? Steam, Uplay, Epic, GOG Galaxy, Origin, Battle.net, Bethesda Launcher, Xbox Game Bar (Microsoft built their launcher into your OS), and probably a few more I am forgetting. At this point there aren't many "Triple A" publishers left without their own launcher.

We're at the start of it. They haven't all started to bloat just yet. Give it time. :/

I think just a matter of time before somebody writes some sort of centralized interface that displays a single chat overlay - possibly including various non-launcher chat services like Discord or even non-gaming services like Facebook Messenger, includes a browser for all of the different store fronts, integrates streaming services like YouTube and Twitch, and executes just the portion of the service that is required to launch a game or service (streaming, chat, etc.) and then immediate shuts it/them down when you close the game.

I'm actually surprised nobody has tried to build something like that yet and would do it myself if I was a better programmer. Alas, those that can - do. Those that can't - become Systems or Test Engineers.

I have this preordered on xbox(Amazon had a glitch where gold ed was 50$ so I couldn'tsay no) but am not feeling super jazzed yet. Wonder how this will be.

I bought it on GMG and will load it up on Uplay. Didn't use Steam for the first one either.

Wow, I actually land between the minimum and recommended specs o.O I’m shocked.

So the new Radeon VII is equal to a 2080Ti?

I think Destiny 2 may have finally put me off preorders forever, but I'm expecting to play this. The first was a glitchy, grindy, repetitive hot mess that was still loads of fun with friends, and I'm fine with more of the same. Even better, if they manage to do to D.C. what they did to Manhattan in terms of environmental design it'll be great, as I used to live in the D.C. area and if they're able to do anything like that in terms of feeling realistic I'll be totally in.
