WoW: Battle for Azeroth (8.3)

I have a question on the new races. I haven't played since the last expansion and I'm afraid I haven't been following the new expansion notes.

Can I choose more than one of the new races to start or am I limited to only one?

I believe you have to grind rep to unlock many of them, and then you have to do a quest line from the embassy after you meet the requirements for unlocking them. After you do that, I think you can have as many as you can/feel like unlocking. Some of the existing races have had some extra choices during character creation, orcs can stand normally and no longer -have- to be hunchbacks, blood elves no longer have to have green eyes, and I haven't tried out alliance stuff yet. There may be more cosmetic changes, but those are what I know about atm.

All the allied races are unlocked through an achievement. This involves completing a quest line for an area such as Highmountain, Suramar, or Argus. You then have to reach exalted with the corresponding allied race faction:
Army of Light, Argussian Reach, Nightfallen and Highmountain.
Of these I found Nightfallen the easiest since the quest line earns you exalted. The other quest lines drop you off at the start of Honored. So you are left with 33K more rep to grind.

Cool. Thanks!

After you grind out the rep and finish the main Argussian quest line, you just have to go to the appropriate questgiver (for example in Stormwind) and you can do both of the entry quests for the new void elf and light dranei with any character.

I got a few more levels to 53ish (was 49) on my Void Elf Warlock.
I could not tell whether the bigger struggle was waffling on which spec to run with or where to quest.
I also tried to level some lowbie Nightborne toons just for something different. I am almost certain I have burnt out on both the 1-60 and Broken isles content. That is 90% alliance side but Broken Isles is the same for horde and a lot of the renovated 1-60 stuff is mirrored where the quests are different but the scenery is the same or you just take the opposing sides of the same story. So it becomes stale very quickly.

So warfronts better be good and they had better let sub 110's level in expeditions. Or this expansion is dead to me after the first months or two.

It seems like most expansions bring wholesale overhauls to the talent trees. This time, not so much.

I've been respeccing all of my toons since 8.0.1 came out, and things seem pretty much the same. My ret paladin* and all his friends (holy pal, BM hunter, WW monk, destro lock, enhance shaman, frost DK) play pretty much the same now as they did a week ago.

Agree? Disagree?

* I'm superstoked that ret's Hammer of Wrath (the thing that pops when a target hits 20% health) is back. I really missed that one.

They do mostly play the same except the GCD changes makes most just seem slower and clunky. Feels too many abilities were added to the GCD than is necessary.

I get into really bad internal circular arguments.:
"I have a 110 horde DH but I leveling more alts on the horde side might freshen up the experience since my highest horde char other than the DH is in low 30's"
"Okay so what should I roll?"
"Goblins are awesome and have a lot of classes available to them."
"I could roll a rogue. Rogues are a blast at high levels now. They are probably my most hyped BFA class."
"Crap. Goblin newb area totally sucks. Plus I don't start at level 20 like the allied races."
"I have a goblin shaman at level 21. I should play that."
"Enhancement is fun but weak. Elemental is all over the map. I should play something that quests really well."
"I'll go back to the rogue but I spent all those hours getting allied race rep. I'll roll a Highbourne."
"I rolled a rogue. but the warrior changes make them just as good at questing. Plus I always have the option to go tank to solo elites and champs."
"I have a 106 dranei warrior that is so close to being ready for BFA. I should bite the bullet and get those last levels before launch."
"Well, I also have a 106 dranei DK that is a lot of fun. I should level that first before launch."
"Broken Isles is getting really repeitive and slow. And travel is much more a pain without the DH's gliding."
"Options: go back to step one; or start the conversation anew with all my mid level alliance alts."

Travel is much easier in the Broken Isles since everyone can fly now.

Which rogue specs got you hyped?
I have considered to lvl another rogue as my (potentiel) next allied race.

Also you may want to get all your guys that are 100+ to 110 asap. I suspect that the free 1k wakening essence will go away with the launch. No reason to pass up on a free legendary.

Jaina’s Warbringer video is out - amazing art and sorrowful story:

Assassination:
(Talents)
Master Poisoner
Subterfuge - pretty much a staple though I don't use stealth that much
Vigor - because I hate being out of energy (you still run out of energy but less)
Leeching - because the less I need to use Crimson Vial the better
Internal bleeding - because why wouldn't you want kidney . shot to do bleed damage
Exsanguinate - bleed faster!
Poison Bomb - is the bomb!

Everyone can fly now? Is pathfinder not a thing anymore? Hope they’ve opened flying in WOD too!

You still need pathfinder for WoD and Legion flying.

Serious question, have they upped the drop rate for legendaries? Over the last 2 days I've opened 3 legendaries from kills or chests across 2 characters. I opened arms bracers and arms waist on my warrior, the former yesterday and the latter today, and now I just got justice gaze on my paladin. It's been 2 hours since I opened the waist on my warrior.

Sorry! I apparently got Broken Isles pathfinder 2 days before 8.0 dropped and didn't notice.

Double embarrassing because i had a friend fly me around on a two seater mount the night before.

I believe they upped the rate AND increased the forgiveness bonus as well.

Well, I guess it's good for those of us who still need them on characters... I'm just salty because I only ever had 1 legendary drop for all of legion since release to pre patch. #Firstworldproblems, I guess.

Outlaw rogue and holy priest haven't changed much IMO. Disc feels much better though.

Anyone tried the new Darkshore pre-launch event? I’m trying to figure out if I can run my level 107 lock through or just focus on hitting 110 and gearing for Argus.

Darkshore pre launch event?

edit: nm I see it. Why are all these damn things level 110? We can't gain any xp from it yet.
And it looks like the world quests are level 110 also.

WQs in Darkshore are awarding 210 gear though so that's awesome.

Also, if you have WorldQuestTracker, you need to disable it before you can see the WQs. After you finish the questline you should see 4 WQs show up. If they don't, that's why.

I'm glad you were talking about this because I had no idea there were world quests in Darkshore!!!

I know a lot of people are disappointed by the quests launched yesterday. I liked them, but what surprised me was how abruptly they ended. Not much fanfare to the ending. For a minute I thought it was bugged until I saw chat in the area discussing it.

Yeah. The abruptness wasn't too much of a surprise because the ones at launch of 8.0 in SIlithus I believe were even shorter. I was just fooled by the fact that this second set unlocked world quests. I was hoping that meant that lowbies would be able to do the world quests once unlocked. That is not the case.

But you know you only need to do the initial quest chain once per faction? The rest of your 110s can skip that and directly yo WQs. Once you go to Undercity or StormWind and talk to Sylv or And talk to them after accepting the quest then selecting the second chat bubble option to skip intro quests.

Lol. I have two 110's and three in the 100's

Maybe there's another set next week? Blizzard loves loves LOVES to roll things out in stages these days (raid wings, new zones, etc)

That is known. The lead up quests to the Burning of Teldrassil (and Lordaeron Assault) are being rolled out over the weeks before BFA launch.

Also, the Launcher hints at that with the War of the Thrones Week 1 thing that rotates with the link to the Warbringer video for Jaina.

For what it's worth to me, the quests were interesting.... but I'm totally lost of the whole "both sides are morally gray" thing. The Horde quests are pretty awful and hit war crime levels in a few spots after they aggresively attack a party they're not officially at war with.

Having done the leveling and war campaign for both sides in Beta... it doesn't really get a whole lot better there. Really hoping by the end of this expansion that Sylvanas finally meets her final death and Saurfang/Baine take over for the Horde so we can stop trying to kill each other when a new Nihilistic world/universe consuming threat pops up every couple of years.
