WoW: Battle for Azeroth (8.3)

Is there anyone else who is making good progression with just a few hours a week to play? My schedule has gotten crazy busy the last few weeks and I’m not even 120 yet. I really want to be able to raid with some friends on Sunday morning, but I have at most 5-6 hours a week to devote to the game for the foreseeable future.

TLD’R I’m debating if I can realistically progress on a short amount of time. I just don’t feel like I’m getting anywhere.

If you are on Blackhand, I'm in a great guild called Get Off My Lawn. We love running anything we can and helping out. Not a huge amount of people but enough to definitely get stuff done. Plus, they are an amazing group of people. You can level up as you want, do what you need to do, ask for help and almost always get someone willing to help as long as they aren't in the middle of something.

I am, but my definition of "good progression" is probably different than yours. I'm fine with taking it slow. I just cracked 120 a week or so ago, and just started WQs. Lots to explore still (like all of the Horde zones). I'm at i290, mostly because I'm not trying to get to i350 all of a sudden.

I would like a better 2H weapon, though. I really liked life in Legion when we didn't have to worry about weapon drops.

Once you hit 120 don't be afraid to start doing dungeons. If you have healer or tank friends to queue with you will help, but finish the quest lines to unlock WQs and do those while waiting in queue.

If you're unwilling to do dungeons to get the higher gear scores you're not going to go anywhere fast as far as progression.

Speaking as somebody who has been pushing Leatherworking pretty heavily* on my main... doing dungeons and raids are absolutely the easiest ways to gear up.

*When I dinged 120 I put on almost a full set of crafted blues and a pair of fist weapons. The biggest benefit of that seemed to be pushing the World Quest rewards up higher, so I kind of replaced most pieces pretty quickly. I currently have the Sanguicells to craft the 375 pants, but I can't get enough Expulsom from grinding up lower-tier items.

So what do we think about all the stuff coming in 8.1?

Kudos to them as it seems feature rich.
I am cautiously optimistic though as quite a few things I was excited about in BFA I couldn't do on 90% of my characters. But the new feature (Incursions) that is supposed to be like Legion Invasions has me hopeful for my alts.

I wonder how it'll work if I want to flip on War Mode and go join an incursion on the enemy continent. I guess it'd work just fine if I want to get kills, but it'd be cool if they put some systems in to support that.

I wonder if you have to turn war mode on before queueing for the incursion to get into a PVP phasing. I.E. you can't flag or de-flag once in the queue or phasing.
I honestly don't care so long as it doesn't require max level to participate.

Thanks all for the great responses. Good news is I have a couple weeks to prep for raiding but the clock is ticking. I realize I burned myself out on questing the past 6 months and that’s the hardest point for me. Maybe when I get to end level stuff I will be more motivated. I quite enjoy group content but solo stuff makes me wonder why I don’t go play more Witcher 3 or Pillars of Eternity Deadfire.

Good news from Games Radar re: 8.1 Incursions -

New Incursions feature
Much like Invasions in the previous expansion, Legion, BfA will be getting quests with extra-potent rewards (whether that be experience or gear) via Incursions. These limited-time events will pop up randomly and replace a zone's World Quest content for several hours before becoming inactive again. Hazzikostas said that players will be able to use these Incursions to help level alts (that's shorthand for "alternate characters," as opposed to your main class of choice), but didn't elaborate. In terms of what to expect, think things like Night Elf ships arriving in Horde-controlled territory, or Orc war machines rolling on Alliance outposts.

Also the dwarven heritage armor looks badass! I may have to fire up a dwarf alt.

I’m looking for an active guild not filled with dudebros (which I’m currently in). Who could I hit up for an invite? And assuming Alliance?

Can we do cross realm guilds yet?

You are right, Alliance. Semhirage is the best to reach out to. My in-game name is "Fylth". We may be friends through the Blizz app, I just sent a message to who I think is you If not, send me a friend request at Dethroned#1718. I can get you in touch with another officer if one happens to be on when I see ya.

Hit 120 on Ally side and started the last bit of the quest to save Jaina... Just have to say this quest chain is just annoying and makes me want to stop. So much run here do this do that now do dungeons again... I can see now the frustration some of you posted before. Compared to Horde side this is just ridiculously time consuming...

Apparently if you scrap trinkets, there is a 100% chance for Expulsom (although I've only heard this third hand, and haven't tested that for accuracy yet)

This week's M+ affixes are pure hell. Fortified Teeming Quaking is... not fun.

I'm pretty much convinced that the platform pulls in Underrot on a 9+ key are basically impossible without a very ST focused group with a massive amount of CC.

Got a 9 Motherlode done, and it was painful.

Thanks for the guild invite, everyone seems awesome! I think it is literally just what the doctor ordered.....

Yeah, that’s just awful.

I'm well aware. I've tested it and trinkets do give you Expulsom, at least at 120. I just don't know how to acquire 22 more trinkets in a timely manner. I'm reasonably sure that I can expect a Titanforged pants drop long before I can expect to get enough Expulsom to craft a pair.

Do we have people on Alliance side willing to help me push through some Mythics? My main is Dimira on Blackhand and I'm in the GWJ Alliance Guild. I am tanking Heroics fairly easily but not sure I'm ready for Mythics. I do have a monk friend decently geared who can heal or dps.

I’m happy to help out if I’m on, have an ilvl 342 DH. I’m Docjoe#1266 on Battle.net.

If it were Horde side I could provide the DPS, My lone Alliance is a Prot Pally nearing mythics as well.

Warfronts have now flipped to the Alliance ... and I just hit i300 this morning. D'oh!

On the plus side I finally found some WQs for Champions of Azeroth. Man oh man that one's going to be a long slow grind.

I'm in the market to do some island expeditions , mostly because I like the idea of running around in the open and smashing stuff. I've done a couple of normals and am geared (barely) to do heroics.

Vargen wrote:

Well they ain't Titanforged, but I did get some 375 pants off Heroic MOTHER last night when my guild decided to give it a go. For reference, I have ~20 Expulsom left to go to craft a pair. And if I want to get the next tier up I have to make that now-useless pair anyway to get the recipe.

That's just how my luck runs though. Stuff I can craft will drop at the most frustrating time. A new weapon is probably going to wait until we eventually manage to down Heroic G'huun.

Up to 323 ilevel doing Arathi this weekend! My 370 item was the Warglaive which is awesome. I also got a couple of 350 (trinket and ring) drops in LFR so that really helped. I just need two more (Chest and Cloak) of the Legion pieces to complete my set. I love the look of that armor.

Am I ready to run Mythics at 323?

Sydhart wrote:

Yes, you can do mythics. But it may be a little rough to get in a group as a pug at that ilvl especially if dps.

If you wanna pug a mythic, you're gonna need gear from the next expansion to even be considered. I wish I was exaggerating much, but the truth is you probably need heroic uldir gear at minimum to get in unless you are grouping w friends.

350 will get an invite without much trouble. 325 is the suggested minimum, so you might have issues trying below that.

Agree, I’m 345 and can’t get into a pug as dps. Although I don’t know that Mythic would be very fun with a pug unless you were very overheated anyways. Best to do with friends/guild preferably on comms. I’ve only done one and it was very fun although there were deaths.

As an aside, I really want the water strider mount, pretty much skipped MoP. Will it take me forever?

I would go for the MOP version over the cata version. still a good bit of fish grinding to do but less in pandaria. so so worth it

I think the Angler's rep is much easier to get than it used to be. I wouldn't go the Pagle route unless you have a lot of time.

With the Timewalking commendations, it's trivial.

You need 7k badges(or around 6400 for a human) on your account for this(https://www.wowhead.com/item=143946/... is BoA, so alts also count towards that total), and a MoP timewalking weekend.

Just remember to run the TW dungeons on everything above panda level, and you'll have the badges pretty quick.
