I’d love to deliver up a charming little indie number this week, but my internet is down and I’m writing this from my phone.

Since I’m stuck in the dark ages, I might as well take my pick from there. Bad Dudes comes to the Switch. It’s only one of the best arcade games ever (except for Rolling Thunder), so of course I have to pick it as my game of the week, even if I do expect it to cost four times as much as a game that old should cost, because of the Nindie Tax.

Bad Dudes gets my pick for game of the week.

There's a new Japanese roleplaying Game in town, and it's shoving its anime visuals in your face with some of the best cel-shading seen in the business. (As long as we're not counting Arc System Works because dang, who can top that?)

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom ditches the monster catching in favor of a more action-oriented combat system. While the Studio Ghibli involvement has been tragically lost, much of the aesthetic and beauty still remains. Clearly, this game is a shoe-in for my game of the week.

Instead, I'm going with Detective Pikachu. Sure, it's not starring Danny DeVito, but the gruff grumbler they cast into the role does a solid enough job of recontextualizing the character without beating the gag into the ground. Yes, I want to play a mystery game where Oscar the Grouch is a cute, electrically charged rodent. For that reason, Detective Pikachu gets my pick of the week.

ARK Park is the VR multiplayer version of ARK: Survival Evolved. It starts off with you exploring a Jurassic Park-style dinosaur theme park and, because this is videogames, ends with you shooting the critters.

Attack on Titan 2 has giant-battling akin to Shadow of the Colossus but with the sensitivity of Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Plus some manga.

Earthlock: Festival of Magic is a Norwegian adventure RPG with turn-based combat and a versatile skill tree like Civ’s policy cards, wherein you can swap skills in and out as desired. The combat may not have the depth of meatier titles, but it doesn’t expect you hang around as long either. A visually tasty snack, rather than a hundred-hour feast. My pick for the week.

Ni No Kuni II, without a doubt.

Sure, OOTP19 also, but that's not exciting.

Ocarina of Time Part 19?

Yikes, Titan Quest's console release is being crushed. Updated visuals and whatnot, but poor performance (on PS4) and (worst of all) poor controls. Hopefully the performance issues don't plague the Switch version when it comes out as that's what I'm most interested in.

I'm probably picking up Ni No Kuni II if the reviews are good.

It feels like Bamco has been doing really well recently.

Dark Souls III, Xenoverse 1/2, Tales of Beseria, Tekken 7, Dragon Ball FighterZ and now Nino Kuni II.

Plus they have stuff like Dark Souls Remastered, Ace Combat 7, and Soul Calibur VI on the horizon. And I think the Gundam Vs games are big in Japan. I wonder if they could Monster Hunter World it to get it to expand.

I want the 30 dollar Pikachu with a hat.
