There are lots of interesting things out this week. This Child Of Mine is a free-to-play stealth-platform puzzler in which you play a scientist trying to protect herself and her newborn during an alien invasion. Super Inefficient Golf answers the age-old question of what golf would be like if we did away with bags of sticks and used remotely detonated explosives instead (Spoiler alert: It would be amazing). I want to say that They Are Hundreds is like They Are Billions after taxes, but Wordsmythe doesn't think that explains that Hundreds is a first-person survival game instead of Billions' RTS.

Being scrupulously honest, though, I have to pick the game that I’m most likely to actually buy, not just the one I find most interesting academically. Kirby Star Allies brings something to the Switch that I’ve been wishing for hotly: a game that I haven’t already played elsewhere. This time, instead of just eating his enemies, Kirby can vomit hearts on them and make them join his cause. The team-building mechanics are sure to take center stage, and if they do it right (sadly not a given when it comes to Kirby games) then there will be some interesting strategies to be strategized in terms of assembling just the right cohort for any given situation.

If not, I can always just eat them and steal their powers. Kirby Star Allies gets my nod for game of the week.

It's the battle of remasters for me this week. Why choose a game you're uncertain about when you can hop right into the driver's seat of a known quantity? Winding its way through the traffic of releases comes Burnout Paradise Remastered, the open-world vehicular car-nage simulator. To put it one way, at least.

Careful, though, as it's finding itself in a head-on collision with Devil May Cry HD Collection. Or perhaps that's only my Venn diagram of interests? There's most certainly a temptation to such a collection this week, as I've always wanted to go back to that first Devil May Cry and give it a spin. The third game is also the most iconic, and ... well, the second is sort of like Alien: Resurrection – it's included in the bundle of discs, but it is the only one to never see the disc tray.

If I have to pick, it'll have to be Devil May Cry HD Collection, even though I wish I could pick both and have Greg create an image of Dante riding atop a high-speed car as it careens right into the grill of another. That would seem ... appropriate.

Super Inefficient Golf sounds hilarious, but then I watched the trailer and felt like it's a great idea that needs some more hooks to be worth a purchase. Meaning, YouTube will have playthroughs and that's probably good enough.

I played the Kirby demo and enjoyed it, but I struggle to shell out $60 for a Kirby game. They're neat and all, but I'd get more mileage out of the Donkey Kong re-release than Kirby.

I'm all over Surviving Mars this week.

Game looks incredible and is my most anticipated release in quite some time.

Those images are wonderful.

I hope a patch fixes all the issues with the DMC collection. Capcom plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Oh? What were the issues with the prior collection?

Yeah, same. I enjoy the creativity of the Kirby games. There’s often little touches that make me say “cool!” but $60 is too much for what I get out of them. I played the demo to see if I’d feel differently. The friend mechanic is cool but I also - like I have found with other platformers with multiple characters moving around — found that I was losing track of where Kirby was sometimes. Anyway... maybe pick it up on sale someday.

!Peace Phantom2! is at the top of my list.

isn't Golem a PSVR game?
