Deep Rock Galactic

Good tip about the pickaxe. I think I had enough Nitra I just literally didn’t know the command to call resupply. Learnin’ the hard way!

You may know this already, but the hotkey is "5".

Happy to duo with you anytime I'm on.

picked it up... I like it. Definitely want to give it a shot with goodjers, but solo play was entertaining.

Some friends at work were talking about this. Looks pretty fun.

I've put nearly 100 hours into this over Early Access with friends. It's become our go-to chatting and hanging out game. I'm about ready to promote my Driller a second time and I've got Engineer on the first.

A few other things the game doesn't really explain well or at all: on Point Extraction missions (Collect Aquarqs), you're on an invisible timer where the swarms come faster and harder, and the turrets on the Minehead will run out of bullets, putting you in a tough spot. Deep Dives (an endgame thing for once you've promoted a dwarf at level 25) also follow a similar invisible timer.

Buy all the upgrades on each track for your armor (once you can afford it) - there's a tracker at the bottom of each equipment that shows how many of the upgrades you've unlocked for that item. For weapons they mostly unlock skins, but on armor there's a few that give you +5 Health, so it's worth buying even upgrades you won't ever use.

I also had a bit of trouble adapting to the Driller at first (who is now my main), until I realized that drilling can get you literally anywhere. It seems obvious, but the other classes' mobility powers are much clearer. Build yourself staircases, connect tunnels, drill straight for the Drop Pod when you're in a hurry. Oh, bring up the map to see where you want to go. In map mode, press Spacebar and you'll orient the same way you were looking in the map view.

There's also a compass at the top of the screen that you can use to communicate with your teammates. I think we all managed to miss it for an embarrassingly long amount of playtime...

That's all I can think of for now, but happy to provide other advice if people have questions. Rock and stone!

Downloaded, gonna play this one tonight!

RIGHT?! Here I am, over 100 hours in, and my teammate says "it's straight north of us."

"What are you talking about?"

"The aquarq is north of here"

"What do you mean north?"

"On the compass at the top."

"OH. MY. GOD."

I didn't notice the compass either until yesterday, almost 20 hours in.

Does this game have some character persistence where you can build and customize a character or is more like LFD where you just play the same thing over and over?

More like Payday 2 or Vermintide 2 where you unlock things as you level up, and then you can switch between 'builds' as desired once they're unlocked.

Picked it up today. Mostly my game time is Tue - Thur evenings after 8pm pacific on Xbox if anyone is looking for some co-op.

Picked up copies for both of my kids and man we have been having a blast! Listening to my daughter laughing like crazy and having a fun shared experience with both of them has been worth every penny.

I've found it to be a weirdly kid-friendly game too Docjoe, my seven year-old stumbled in last night while I was playing and since I was only shooting bugs I let him hang around. He was entranced by the setting and was very excited to be allowed to watch one of 'dad's games', so he is now devoting all his efforts to turning 10 as quickly as possible in order to play it with me (an arbitrary reference point that wasn't tomorrow :p). He's a flighty bird, so I want him to be a bit older before he's personally exposed to the terror that is combat with a major swarm in the middle of a blizzard while your flares are on cooldown

Wow is Hazard Level 3 a step up in difficulty.

There's a requested Deep Rock Galactic channel in the discord, and folks chatting about it in #shooters. We've been getting groups going most nights, and I want to encourage more folks around here to do the same. I love my gruff dwarf bro team, this game is so very rad. We also did a twitch stream tonight, too. Thank you BushPilot for being our good luck charm in finally surviving a mission as a team.

I had a lot of fun playing DRG in early access and will be heading back to the mines now it's had it's full release!

I'll check-in on the Discord and if there are any Euro GWJ'ers (or anyone that can make it work time-zone wise) wanting to get together for a game, let me know.

I'll have to check out the Twitch stream and see how you all did!

Might have to fire up the old Xbox One and see what this is about. How does it run on an OG Xbox One?

I definitely didn't try and hero ball every mission and die horribly every time. /s

The Scout gives me too much freedom to get into my own trouble. Case in point: Exhibit A
- We were low on Nitra, there was a big deposit at the bottom of the cliff
- Instead of slowly walking around the side, which I would have had to do as a Gunner or Driller, I decided to jump off and grapple the bottom
- Unfortunately I clipped the rock edge about 0.01ms before I hit the grapple button and died
- This lead to a party wipe because I failed in getting Nitra and an exploder came and went boom

I think I'm in Driller detention for the foreseeable future

Bad scout. Bad.

I was interested in this one but the co-op advertising focus put me off because I thought it was required. I'm glad to hear it is fun solo too!

It's so fun solo. Get it!

It is definitely fun solo; in fact, I've only ever played it solo (aside from a brief demo, where nobody knew how to play). The little floating miner helper bot is awesome.

I should play some more.

I want a Bosco in real life.

I’ve bought it and played the tutorial level but haven’t done anything else yet. I should try and get in on a game some night.

I've played about 6 missions so far and I'm really enjoying it. The tutorial did not cover nearly enough info for me to do well initially, but through some tips videos and trial & error I figured out at least enough to survive

This is the article I found that helped the most after failing the second mission
https://www.fanbyte.com/guides/deep-...

If anyone wants to join up on Xbox I am hoping to be on this evening after I get the kids in bed. That should be around 8 pacific.

It works well solo but the shenanigans when you are in a group on comms is where it shines. I have not had much fun with randoms, too hard to communicate and I always get separated. Traversal in particular requires communication.

Unless you are the scout, then you can go anywhere as fast as you want.

For a game that's so well polished, nuanced, and full of depth in all other areas, it's really a shame how horrendous the tutorial is. The tutorial was so bad it initially turned me off the game a couple of months ago when I picked it up. It's a regular refrain any time I'm with a new player "Oh just ignore the tutorial, go through as fast as you can, we'll teach you in missions what you should do"

I keep reading this thread name as Deep State Galactic. I think i need to avoid the news for a bit.

Played it for the first time in awhile last night, really dug it. GET IT?

I'll poke my head in the Discord and feel free to ping me on Steam if anyone is looking for a game.

If this had local co-op I would buy it in heart beat.

Heard about this on the conf call and another podcast I listen to. Interesting... How many euro goodjers are playing? Or EST folk that play early evening? I'm usually on at about 10pm GMT.
