NCAA College Football 2018-19: Official Thread

Hey, Thanksgiving night is the Egg Bowl!

Less than 24 hours until kickoff vs Ohio State. Michigan looking for its first win since 2011 (and 2003 before that).

Back when I was a student (90s), Michigan was the one winning that rivalry every year. A return to that sure would be nice.

Coincidentally, Michigan is managing to enter The Game with a healthy starting quarterback for the first time since 2011.

Nervous.

Two great games tonight, and then a feast tomorrow! It's the most wonderful time of the year!

OMG a Plow King reference on the Apple Cup halftime show.

Go Dawgs.

If you aren't watching these games, SHAME.

The Apple Cup is in a blizzard and just had a flubbed PAT run back for two points.

Oklahoma keeps their playoff hopes alive by winning in a "defensive struggle" (get it?), 59-56.

Oh, you are having steak for dinner? You should try a glass of Wolverine tears. They go with everything.

A glass? Try a whole pool. We are swimming over here.

No posts?

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP! GIG 'EM, AGGIES!

...I'm dead tired, and I only watched.

Why in god's name would you get into a fight with a former NFL running back?

In other news, 9 wins for Syracuse. My target was seven. SU needs to give Dino Babers basically whatever he wants.

Yeah a few people in Louisville were talking about stealing him.

Well technically, he got into a fight with a guy with Parkinson's. That's when Faulk got involved.

http://www.espn.com/college-football...

An LSU spokesman alleged that the man involved in the scuffle with Faulk punched LSU special assistant Steve Kragthorpe in the chest. Kragthorpe, who was once the offensive coordinator for the Tigers, has Parkinson's disease and a pacemaker.
The man involved in the scuffle with Faulk was seen approaching Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher in the team tunnel after the game to inform him of the altercation. Fisher told reporters after the game that he was not aware of the scuffle and "had no idea" what happened.

They have that on video, as it was all over Twitter.

Former Louisville head coach Krag. Glad he's ok

https://www.nola.com/lsu/2018/11/lsu...

There was a large shouting match near midfield after the game, and multiple sources said Texas A&M receivers coach Dameyune Craig was at the heart of it. Craig, who was LSU’s receivers coach in 2016, approached LSU’s bench in the midst of a crowd storming shouting vulgarities. Sources near the incident said he threw his headset at LSU staffers and challenged them to fight.

If this mystery man in the red shirt and one coach did indeed go around starting fights or attempted to do so unprovoked, I'm sure consequences will follow. Seems a strange way to celebrate an epic win, though. I'm reserving judgment until the facts are in. There are a number of different versions as to what happened floating around, and multiple videos. There may be more.

In any case, it's a shame these events are distracting anyone from what an amazing game both teams played.

So if you're LSU, does this count as a quality loss? I mean, seven OTs and all that. Asking for a friend ...

Meanwhile, your AP poll looks like this:

1. Alabama (61)
2. Clemson
3. Notre Dame
4. Georgia
5. Oklahoma
6. Ohio State
7. UCF
8. Michigan
9. Texas
10. Washington

... which probably means the SEC, ACC and ND have playoff bids, and either the Big 10 or Big 12 but not both, and definitely not the Pac 12.

It'll get really weird if Clemson loses and sorta weird if Oklahoma loses. (No, Alabama won't lose. They'll never lose again ever.)

The coaching carousel spins in Chapel Hill. Larry Fedora out; Mack Brown back in. Huh.

So, they fired Fedora in order to hire someone...worse?

Is Brown worse, or is he just out of touch? Is there any evidence he's a step up?

I'm so confused.

While we wait for updated playoff rankings, I just want to point out that we played both Bama and Clemson closer than any of their other opponents; in lieu of a playoff invitation, please just go ahead and send us the third place trophy, hang the banner, and print the shirts.

Mack was out of touch at the end of his tenure at Texas. He couldn't hire coordinators worth a damn at the end, there, among other things. There some evidence that as he's been going around doing games the last few years he's gotten to know the staffs of teams and is back "in the know" as to who is hot and who knows what they're doing. I still wouldn't hurt the guy as HC, but maybe he woke up during his retirement.

Seems like he's been out of the game a long time to be stepping back now, but maybe not? How old is he?

He should offer Kingsbury the OC position yesterday.

Glad UNC took him so no one at Louisville would think that was a good idea.

I'm hearing Louisville is after Odom, from Mizzou. That should be...interesting.

Me, too.

On one hand: Carolina's best years were under Mack Brown!

On the other: Mack Brown left Carolina 21 (!) years ago.

Carolina fan boards seem to be somewhere between Worse Hire Ever and Who Else Was Going To Take This Job?! The big problem in Chapel Hill is that it's a basketball school that suddenly has found itself in a conference with a bunch of football schools (Clemson, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Louisville for a hot minute).

My gut feeling (based on living around a bunch of Tar Heels for 20+ years) is that Bubba Cunningham figures Mack can recruit in state, something that Larry Fedora failed to do. There's a lot of talent here in NC, and the UNC leadership doesn't think it should be losing so much of it to NC State, Clemson and the SEC.

Kingsbury is going to get interviews for NFL OC jobs.

New playoff rankings are out. Same top three, Georgia now 4th. I assume if they beat Bama, this top four are the field.

If I knew that were true, I'd almost not be mad if they won the SECC just so we could see the wailing and gnashing of teeth when the NC is a rematch of last year.

UCF's McKenzie Milton has nerve damage, faces reconstructive surgery

On Tuesday, his family provided more detail about the severity of the injury for the first time while thanking doctors, nurses and trainers "for their prompt attention" to Milton's injuries. He underwent immediate surgery to repair the blood flow problems Friday night, but he will have reconstructive surgery to repair his knee at a later date.

"His blood flow has been restored to his right leg and his nerve is injured but intact," the family said in the statement. "He is recovering and healing and is receiving the best medical care. At a later time, he will have reconstructive surgery to repair his knee.

Jeeezus. And that's the good news.

It's a slight tangent, this does make me think that Nick Bosa absolutely made the right decision for himself, and that Tim Tebow is a mark.

Tua could probably use a rest this weekend. Just sayin'.
