(I can't believe I am actually saying this, but) Michigan looks really strong. Their lone loss to Notre Dame looks better each week, will they finally break the Urban curse?
We reeeeeeeeally hope so.
Gotta beat Indiana this weekend first, though.
Excited to see what Louisville does with an interim coach vs an NC St team that seems to be sliding.
Just some effort, maybe covering the spread for once this season, would be appreciated.
FSU's 41 year streak of winning seasons (and their 36 year bowl streak) can officially come to an end tomorrow if they are unable to beat Boston College at home. While I resigned myself to this fate weeks ago, there is still a sliver of hope. BC lost their starting QB last week, but reports are that he has been at practice, so that should not come into play.
This year has been somewhat refreshing as I have cut wayyyy back on listening to sports radio and podcasts since FSU has been so bad. This, coupled with the fact that Alabama is going to win again, therefore removing poll drama, has made it a little more fun, as I can just watch the occasional game on Saturday without stress.
Weird.

Hooray?
Yeah, it's really made me look at how seriously I take a game. Don't get me wrong, I still stress about FSU, but I just can't be bothered with freaking out about the CFP rankings or the ridiculous arguments that are part and parcel of college football. I used to be pretty addicted to SiriusXM channel 84 (ESPN Radio's college channel) but when I tune in now it's just a bunch of blahblahblahblah. Especially since the CFP polls are coming out. Just pissed off UCF fans, people ragging on UCF fans, and assorted others.
I have better things to listen to now.
The only exception is the Shutdown Fullcast, which I only discovered this year and love because a) they don't take themselves seriously, at all, and b) they are funny as hell.

Welcome to the last decade of being a Vol fan post-Fulmer era.
Cal, stanfurd, the PAC-12 and the NCAA have made the right decision and postponed The Big Game to December 1. For those of you who aren't aware the fires up in Butte County have effectively covered the entire Bay Area in smoke. Air quality in San Francisco is now one of the worst in the world at this moment and is not projected to get better this weekend. What appears to be the iconic San Francisco fog is in fact thick smoke that is hiding the entire skyline.
For context last year the WSU-Cal game was scheduled during the Napa fires. The air was noticibly smokey but the AQI was around 150 (200 is considered "Very Unhealthy"). As I write this AQI in Berekley is 230 and not getting better. Almost all schools in the Bay Area from elementry through college are closed and athletic events, including indoor events have been cancelled.
it is a bit awkward as the Pac-12 championship game is actually scheduled for November 30 the night before, but neither school has a chance to be in that game.
GO BEARS!
This is just weird.
Les Miles to KU as Jayhawks’ next football coach is nearing reality, SI report says
I've seen these rumors, but just ignored them. I don't know what to expect. A resurgence? A Charlie Weiss level debacle? Who knows?
Maybe Louisville fans can stop talking about him now. I enjoy the mad hatter from afar for entertainment value. But I don't want to live and die with his crazy play calls.
I can't wait for Les Miles to be employed again. He's great for college football!
One third of the way through the game The Citadel has more points than LSU or Miss St scored against Bama?

They were tied 10-10 at the half, even! Now Bama is pulling away.
Did A&M play Bama the closest so far?

Welp.
Never mind.
Maryland needed ten or so tries to get a TD from the five at the end of regulation, but they thought going for 2 in OT to win or lose was a good idea? Not bright. Maryland can't beat real teams this year.

I see what you did there.
Well FSU pulled that one out. Now to have our hearts crushed by UF. Just reminds me how bad that call was at Miami.
Not bitter or anything
Duke is beating Clemson 6-0 (2 FGs) so far.
Maryland had the game won, dude was open in the end zone on the 2 point try. QB just missed him.

F that, we are beating go gata.
(If we don't, at least we won't be 4-8)

That's also true.
Syracuse spoils ND’s shut out with a field goal with 0:10 left in the game.
Irish win 36-3.
Against a team averaging 44 points a game. Helped that Cuse QB went down in their 3rd drive.
Still, we’ll take it!
Yeah, I think we all have to come to terms with the fact that Notre Dame is going to be in the playoff this year.
For maximum salt I would love to see Georgia beat Bama in the SEC Championship, because Bama would still get in. Then you would have 2 SEC, Notre Dame, and one of the other four conferences in the Playoff.

2 SEC teams and 1.5 ACC teams!
ND has to be USC first, though. (Oh, and Georgia has to win against Alabama in this scenario...I'd wager ND has a better chance.)

I would like to subscribe to your newsletter. By the way, this scenario is only one team different than last year's playoffs.

While you're almost certainly correct, would Bama have a stronger resume than a hypothetical 12-1 Michigan in this scenario?

Do you really want to hear an answer to this question?

Sure, why not?
Hypothetical 12-1 Alabama:
Lost to: 12-1 Georgia in week 13
Conference champion: No
# of FBS wins: 11
Ranked wins (ranks shown are AP Poll as of this week): #8 LSU, #22 Miss St.
Best nonconference win: 2-9 Louisville, I guess?
Hypothetical 12-1 Michigan:
Lost to: 12-0 Notre Dame in week 1 by 7
Conference champion: Yes
# of FBS wins: 12
Ranked wins: #10 Ohio State, #15 Penn St., #20 Northwestern, #20 Northwestern (again)
Best nonconference win: 5-6 SMU (played and lost to 12-0 ND in nonconference)
(One obvious caveat is that Ohio State and Northwestern would move down in the polls with an additional loss.)
I dunno, which resume looks better to you?

Yes, because Bama. I am fairly sure that it's in the CFP bylaws that Bama gets in unless they are winless.
(Tongue firmly planted in cheek)
Following their humiliating loss on the should-be-outlawed blue hell-turf, FRESNO STATE achieved a convincing win over San Diego State to re-assert their claim to California football dominance, and secure their spot in the Mountain West Championship against the winner of Utah State and the Blue Zone.
Week 13! aka RIVALRY WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So many good games:
Friday early: Sleep in/pre-game
Friday afternoon: Virginia/Virginia Tech (not that any of you care, but it's a Big Deal where I'll be spending T-giving) or Oregon-Oregon State (not sure why it's called the Civil War when this nation had an actual, you know)
Friday night: UCF-USF (if you like Florida), Oklahoma-WVa (if you like offense), Wash-Wash State (for you PAC 12 fans)
Saturday early: Ohio State-Michigan, Georgia-Ga Tech, Florida-Fla State, Purdue-Indiana, NC State-UNC
Saturday afternoon: THE IRON BOWL AT 3:30
Saturday night: LSU-TAMA (should be good), Notre Dame-USC (tradition!), Kentucky-Louisville (if Kentucky football rivalries are meaningful to you
P.S. Lots of ACC-SEC matchups here. ACC should win one (Clemson) and lose the other three. Sigh.
