The GWJ CRPG Club - Main Thread (Game 6 Voting Underway!)

I'll nominate the original Fallout, released on October 10th, 1997.

Just my two cents: the category nomination phase seemed to complicate the process in a way that didn’t seem too popular... or necessary. Sometimes simpler is better.

I agree, but it was a valuable exercise to actually go through the process once, to get this feedback.

I'm really looking forward to this vote! Despite how much fun it is to see *Legion* fail, Arcanum tempts me so. I was reading about it during the last vote, and it looks like it'd be a lot of fun. But I'd also like to play Planescape and/or Baldurs Gate. I have some homework to do on Krondor and Wizardry 8, but at a glance they look fun as well. EDIT: I've already played Fallout to the end, but would be okay with revisiting it as well.

My nomination above since it was missed.

Also I’ll second Fallout.

Other ideas
There is a lot of goodness out there in this time range. Things to check out...
Gothic
Ultima 7
Diablo
Might & Magic VI
System Shock 2

If I were permitted a second nomination, it would've been this.

I’ll nominate Ultima 7 Black Gate

Also will second Wizardry

Another great one to check out: Might & Magic 4-5, World of Xeen. I’d have nominated this, but I’ve already beaten it 3 times or so.

I'll second Ultima VII and give a nom to System Shock 2.

nom nom

Does Deus Ex fall into our RPG category? If so, I'd nominate that one. Original release date of June 22, 2000.

I'd like to nominate the other good Ion Storm game: Anachronox.

I think this is a great suggestion. I've actually played that before, and it showed up in a couple of RPG lists that I've stumbled onto for games from the period. I actually meant to put it on the list of "games to consider".

Nominations Update

The field fills out! Keep them coming if there are other ideas! We've got enough now for a Pick 6 Round, so when nominations are done in a few days, we'll start that round.

Being a Jaguars fan, I imagine, including the 0% success rate.

Yes, I ordered mine this week as well. I thought it was the standard edition, but apparently I ordered the Collector's edition. #shouldlearntoread

I'll second it. I have it in the backlog and I've been meaning to actually complete it for quite a while. (I think I played the first level or two, and then moved on to something shinier.)

Considered the collectors edition, but bought the standard one. The additional price was quite steep for what you get. Looking forward to it though.

Not sure what to nominate. I could be Jaguars fan (I dont even know who or what they are :D) and nominate Icewind Dale yet again, or maybe go for something entirely different with Diablo 1 which, if we go by CRPG Book logic, is a CRPG. Decisions...

Agreed. I didn't want to get the Collector's edition and only ordered it by accident.

I'll nominate Diablo 1 and second Elder Scrolls: Arena

I'll second Diablo 1.

Spoiler:

My success rate is no longer 0%! Glad I avoided that, right before the picture above

And nominate Icewind Dale.

EverBank Field? Probably not a bad idea.

It's called TIAA Bank Field now thankyouverymuch.

A poo by any other name would smell just as rank.
