Slay the Spire - Catch all

So I've won with all 3 now, yay! Game over?

Getting wins with the 3 characters is just the beginning...

I had my first battle with the heart the other day. Ugh. A whole new end game to prep for.

I have beaten the game with all 3 characters... haven't really found anything new to do. I did some dailies... what should I look for?

I really don't know what's this ''just the beginning'' and ''whole new end game to prep for'' you guys are talking about

Major endgame spoilers...

Spoiler:

"Beating the game" with all 3 characters unlocks the final boss, the Heart (which can be summoned after the end of level 3 if you've jumped through the right hoops.

It also unlocks "Ascension Levels", which incrementally ratchet up the difficulty.

Act 4 and/or Ascension levels and/or Dailies

Yeah, Ascension levels are the thing that will keep you coming back. Each Ascension level has different modifiers.

Yeah act 4 is really "beating the game".

After that Ascension is just more and more challenge. Some people enjoy that endless grind more than others.

I knew it - gah!!

A20 is beating the game! JK, it's a grind and actually not that satisfying when you do it.

has anyone played the new 4th character on the beta branch?

I tried to last night, but I wasn't signed up for the beta branch before, so now I have to go through and unlock the other characters first.

That's not ALL that big of a deal - I punched through the third-act boss with the Ironclad on the first try - but it is time-consuming.

HOWEVER, the fourth class isn't all they've added!

I noticed a new potion and a couple new relics on my trip up the spire. I also could swear I picked up a Lizard Tail from somewhere other than a boss.

You should be able to copy your user preferences over the stable to the beta branch folder so you don't have to unlock everything.

I've been playing her since yesterday. I've made it to the Act 3 boss a couple times, but I haven't beaten it with her yet. It is only a matter of time though. I am already having a lot of fun playing the character. I do miss all the card art though. The Devs will likely add in placeholder graphics from the community as the beta progresses. At least that is what they did with the Defect.

EDIT: I just won a game as the Watcher. It was my 3rd or 4th game with her.

Didn't even know that was an option until you said something. Thanks.

She's interesting. Reminds me a lot of some of the better mod characters.

I had a good run with the Defect...got some relics that seemed absolutely crucial (gain an extra orb slot every 2 turns) and loaded up on ice. Walked through act 3 and couldn’t even be touched.

Not too thrilled about going after the true ending but will give it a shot.

Huh, I've never seen that relic. I'm jelly!

Oh man, the inserter (that's what it's called) is AMAZING.

With that setup and a Consume card, you could very likely beat the Heart.

This! It's what made the class feel viable. Was basically just constantly rolling ice cards with a few claw cards. Block was so high that nothing could even touch me.

That would have been handy to have. I was annoyed that I couldn't continue on since I felt very invincible.

Just want to say that due to the activity in this thread I ended up picking this up in the humble bundle. I am not a person who likes CCG's but the roguelike nature of this and that it's just single player has me loving it.

I really am terrible at it the highest I've gotten is the third level as the Iron guy but it's been alot of fun. Thanks all for the recommendation!

I have been almost exclusively playing this game since it came out on PS4 . It pushes my buttons in just the right way and the length of time it takes for a run fits in perfectly with my life. It is just a thing of beauty.

I Just finished an ascension level 10 run for the first time with a strange ironclad combination of: combustion, 2 x rupture, meat on the bone and crucially magic flower. I got lucky and got the vampire event to swap in Bites and I had one pummel for when my strength was off the chart. I cant see my doing much else till i clock Ascension 20

Apologies if this has already been stated, but what's the consensus on the Switch port? I've nearly hit "buy" on this game so many times and what I've read here keeps pushing me closer to the edge.

Its great, runs really well. Perfect game for handheld mode which I've exclusively put 130+ hours into.

I have had a few technical hiccups on Switch, but none have been so bad as to dissuade from that version. The hard crashes that I experienced regularly during the first few weeks stopped after one of the earlier patches.

The game still freezes for a solid 2-3 seconds for me during some big boss attacks. Thankfully the turn-based nature of the game makes them nothing more than a minor annoyance.

I don't think I've ever had a full three second pause on Switch, some slowdown here or there, but since it's a turn based game anyway you aren't losing anything.

Otherwise, I've never had it crash or anything like it. Controls work good, cards and writing are legible in handheld. I love the game so much I can't wait to shell out for it again on my phone, whenever that launches.

Never had a problem with the Switch port since they patched it. Even before then it was just the occasional stutter during animations.

This game seems right up my alley and I just keep telling myself, "Eventually." Not sure why that happens with some games, but here we are. Guess I just like the view from on the fence.

Ugh, I've tried to get the 'play 25 cards in a single turn' achievement 3-4 times now and I just don't get the drops to do it. Today I got to 22 cards, almost!

You're best bet for that is a Dead Branch/Corruption deck for Ironclad or a 0 cost/All for One/discard fishing deck for Defect. You also might be able to pull it off with a Blue Candle and the Necronomicon curse.

Because if you like it, then you won't want to play anything else for a while. Like me.

Yup.

Yeah I gave it 70 hours until Fire Emblem on the same system distracted me. Probably play again when 4th character comes to Switch.
