I'll second Final Fantasy X, its been on my backburner for far too long.

As for my own nomination: is there any love out there for one of the Fire Emblem games? I’m kinda obsessed with that series at the moment, so I’d be down for playing (or replaying) any of the titles that other folks might be interested in.

Digital high-five!

Also, yeah, I don't mind me some Fire Emblem! I really enjoy the permadeath aspect to them. While I really like the mechanically rich newer games, I have a soft spot for the more direct approach of the older games. The latest remake seems like a nice middle-ground.

You read my mind, brother. I’ve been playing through FE7 on the GBA at the moment for the first time and loving it. I missed these gems back in the early 2000s, but it’s been a lot of fun going back to them now. I’ll probably tackle Sacred Stones once I finish FE7 sometime this weekend.

They’re probably too niche to nominate for this category, but I was hoping that somebody might want to throw a bone to FE: Echoes.

FE: Echoes is constantly on sale at my local game shop. I'm pretty set on playing through Shin Megami Tensei IV soon, but if FE:Echoes tops the list I'd happily make a purchase and play along.

As an FYI (and I'm not saying this to boot the discussion away passive-aggressively (oh God does mentioning that make it seem like I AM being passive-aggressive (ohgodohgodohgod))) we got a Fire Emblem Catch-All where I've talked my slow progress through Sacred Stones a bit.

Which one is FE7? I thought the only GBA Fire Emblem games were Shadow Dragon (remake of the first) and Sacred Stones.

Thanks for the link, ccesarano. I’ll have to check out that thread again. Last time I dipped in there it had mostly become a FE: Heroes jam, which I didn’t enjoy at all. I’ll have to check out your thoughts on Sacred Stones, though.

FE7 was the first Western Fire Emblem release, titled simply “Fire Emblem” on the GBA (although the Japanese subtitle translates to “Blazing Sword” in English). It’s a prequel to FE6 on the GBA, which is Roy’s story, but never got an localized in English. The fan translation seems pretty good and I’ll probably get around to it one of these days.

Shadow Dragon was a DS release, which I’m also kinda simultaneously playing through at the same time as I’m chipping away at FE7 - which means that when I get too frustrated at losing a battle for the 5th or 6th time in a row on the GBA, but I still have a hankering for more FE, I fire up my DS for a bit and play a mission or two.

Is that a nomination for Echoes then, MrMetonymy?

Yes! I should have probably just done that initially instead of beating around the bush

Hey, no problem. I just wanted to be sure. I get wanting to feel things out to see if there’s any interest.

Nominate: Atelier Rorona

Last day of nominations.

What we’ve got so far:

Atelier Rorona (PS3, Vita)
Final Fantasy XIII (360, PS3, PC)
Fire Emblem Echoes (3DS)
Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (PS3, Vita, PC)
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (PS3)
Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)
Suikoden II (PSONE, PSN)

Y'know what? I'll punch in a nomination for Final Fantasy X. It doesn't look like that was replayed, and I've been wanting to go back and record that again from the start to do a video on. Will it actually happen? WHO KNOWS?! But it's the only nominee I feel comfortable putting in (TMS#FE is only on WiiU, played I Am Setsuna too recently, Valkyria Chronicles was already played, and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth is only on PSX, PSP, and... is it getting a smartphone release outside Japan? Yeah, too tough to play).

Makin' sure ya don't miss it.

OOPS!! Sorry! I did feel like I was missing something. Thank you!

No problem. It was the last post on a page where I was overly verbose. Easy to miss.

Voting is now open through the 29th. Your choices are above. FYI: You can vote for up to three games.

1. Final Fantasy X
2. SMT IV

....

I'm unable to play anything else on that list...

I'll vote for:

SMTIV
Suikoden 2

Would vote for FE Echoes but it's gone back to full price at the local

I own 3 on the list so yeah...

FF X
SMT IV
Ni No Kuni

Trails in Cold Steel
SMIV
Ni No Kuni

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (PS3)
Final Fantasy X (PC, PS2, PS3, PS4, Vita)
Final Fantasy XIII (360, PS3, PC)

I'd be down for a Fire Emblem game but I don't own Echoes. I should beat Awakenings or Fates first!

My votes are as follows:

1. Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (PS3, Vita, PC)
2. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (PS3)

Nothing else on that list is either owned or interesting to me any longer (see FF XIII, which I've beaten). Trails is on my playlist and being chipped away at here and there, and could definitely use the spotlight. Ni No Kuni is a pending Platinum for me, so I'd be happy to play toward that trophy while everyone else is main questing.

Final Fantasy XIII for me, as it’s the only one I own and haven’t played

Trails of Cold Steel is the only game in that list that I own and haven't completed so that gets my vote.

Fire Emblem Echoes (3DS)
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (PS3)
Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)

I’ll cross my fingers and hope that SMT:IV takes it, because I’m way too lazy to hook up my PS3 again.

Final Fantasy X

My votes are for:
Final Fantasy XIII
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

Cold Steel is on my play list but I am hoping to hold on it until I complete Trails in the Sky and it's all available on a single platform. Sadly I purchased the collector's edition of Ni No Kuni and never even opened it, that really needs to be fixed.

Cold Steel and Suikoden 2.

I'll put in votes for Rorona (never managed to get into one of these), Fire Emblem Echoes and Suikoden II.

So after a day of voting, that puts us at:

Ni No Kuni - 6
Shin Megami Tensei IV - 5
Trails of Cold Steel - 4
Final Fantasy X - 4
Suikoden II - 3
Final Fantasy XIII - 3
Fire Emblem Echoes - 2
Atelier Rorona - 1

Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy XIII
Suikoden II

Three games that I’ve played and beaten before, but would like to do so again.

I'm really *hoping* to play along this time, but am going to hold off on voting because I'm afraid I might not be able to devote so much time to it, and I don't want to vote and then not play.
