Quite the mix this week. The Switch continues to get ports of indie darlings from other platforms, Telltale keeps cranking out The Walking Dead seasons, and Destiny 2 gets an expansion.

On my list of “I never heard of that, but now I want to hear more” releases, we have Autobahn Police Simulator 2, which I’m interested in only to see what traffic enforcement means on a road with no speed limit. Do they ticket people for going too slowly? There’s also Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, which is a game about climbing a mountain using only a sledgehammer while wearing a barrel.

My game of the week, though, is more of a known quantity. Hello Neighbor first released into early access months ago. It’s a fascinating take on the survival horror genre, where you must sneak into your neighbor’s house and figure out what nefarious doings are afoot. The hook is that the neighbor learns from your behavior and acts accordingly. He’ll board up the windows you keep going through, or place bear traps at doors you use a lot, or learn to check inside wardrobes or under beds. It’s an interesting and vaguely unsettling way to keep the players on their toes and force them to try new things.

The ‘Burbs have gone too long without a video game adaptation, so I’m picking Hello Neighbor as my game of the week.

It's definitely the end of the year. If a company isn't releasing DLC for one last big push in sales before the holidays, then they're releasing a complete collection of their title for last-minute Christmas shoppers. Skipped out on Horizon Zero Dawn despite how often it was on sale for $20? Now you can snag it and its Frozen Wilds DLC in Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Collection. Similarly, if you've skipped out on pretty much all of Telltale's The Walking Dead, you can now get all the seasons on a single disc.

For those of you that enjoy solo play filled with the repetitive slaughter of monsters while hunting for new and goofy outfits, there's Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package. For the rest of us that enjoy the repetitive slaughter of monsters while hunting for new and goofy outfits, there's Destiny 2: The Curse of Osiris. Bungie's most dedicated players have been pretty displeased with the state of the game's content, and the recent hullabaloo regarding diminishing returns on experience has caused the company to drop its "Everything is Awesome" facade and release a massive list of promises.

Honestly? It's possible I'm Destiny-ed out. Four years of the game cutting into the rest of my gaming time just has me shrugging at Osiris, in particular because the new changes and improvements don't seem to add much for my style of play. I'll log in and enjoy it, but I feel like the days of Destiny being such a dominant force in my gaming life are coming to a close.

So look forward to springtime, when I'll announce the next expansion as my pick of the week, just as Curse of Osiris is my choice this week.

My kids played Hello Neighbor for months already. Now that it’s time to pay, they’ve moved on, and are unlikely to return unless FGTV plays it again.

Those of you with VR and aim controllers get a military shooter this week: Bravo Team. It has co-op, if you can find someone else with an aim controller.

Boiling Bolt is a pretty 2.5D twin-stick shooter. It mitigates some of the bullet hell with slow motion mechanics, but still – not for me.

If money were no object, the release that looks best to me this week is Steep. Forget about all that shootin’ and creepin’ and just hit the snow. There’s something soothing about hurtling down an alp at breakneck speed, even with a “who are they?” sportz-rock soundtrack. If you already have Steep, Road to the Olympics gives you a campaign mode to train for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. It adds Korean and Japanese maps for you to carve up on skis or board, or to glide perilously over in a wingsuit, and includes a new “Big Air” event.

If you don’t already have Steep, then Winter Games Edition is the complete bundle. One note of caution, though: As Steep is an officially licensed 2018 Winter Olympic tie-in game, its prices are also … somewhat more vertiginous than you’d expect.

Will I be ‘that guy’ if I say that autobahns have speed limits?

It was my understanding that there would be no math!

It was also my understanding that portions of the autobahn have speed limits, while other parts do not. I may have been misinformed.

Bennett Foddy has a new game out? That's the guy who did QWOP.

There’s also Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, which is a game about climbing a mountain using only a sledgehammer while wearing a barrel.

Sounds about right.

Ooh, a new The Surge expansion? I had no idea more was planned for the title. It’s the best Souls-like yet and in my top ten games of the year (I was just as surprised as anyone).
