PAX South 2018, Jan 12-14, San Antonio TX

The D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) is through Adventure's League... It's a bunch of one shot adventures typically loosely tied together and to the theme of the year that Wizards of the Coast has their latest book in. They have a bunch of DM's set up to run tables which are open sign up for a variety of level adventures. This year they have level 1-5, 5-10, and now 11-16 level stuff. I have a level 4 or 5 monk from last year and plan to make a druid for low level stuff if need be.

I'll pass on D&D this year and Magic (all the years). I love card based games but Magic has never done it for me, for some reason.

I think a late lunch at Esquire on Friday is a great idea, and I'll put it on the calendar. Speaking of which...I've noticed that no one else has posted anything on the GWJPAXS google calendar, which was my intention (rather than striclty sharing my own interests). If folks post there in the same way that I did then it will be easy to get ideas for stuff to do and people to do it with (or in some cases, times when people are unvavailable). I know it will end up being a ton of stuff on one calendar, but that makes it easy to 'mute'. Did anything go wrong with the invites, for those of you who use Google Calendar at all?

Can't believe the pre-PAX meetup is tomorrow already! Looking forward to seeing folks. I think everyone knows what's up, but PM me if you have any questions or need my contact information.

See a bunch of you tomorrow!

I'm a MS guy...

I'm still looking at the schedule and trying to see if anything really jumps out. There's no DLC or We Have Concerns this year, so my panels are "nice to see" but not "must go."

That being said, I went and updated the Google calendar.

Schedule wise Aqc Inc was the only stand out panel.. the rest is stuff without specific times. If I get a chance I will try to nail down when I want to do what, but I was planning on winging it.

Sorry I won't get in until later and will miss the S&T.

Thursday I'll be at the GWJ events.

Friday I'm planning on attending the PA Q&A, and then heading to Tabletop for gaming.

Saturday I have no plans but gaming.

Sunday we'll see. I usually get too antsy to get on the road to do much gaming, but this year my carmates and I have switched up our schedule and might be more open to hanging out for a bit.

I am again bringing a tablecloth to cover a table with - last year it made it easy to find us, as it may have been the only one in the place. This year's is red.

Some of the games I'll have: Codenames, Secret Hitler, Werewords, Happy Salmon, Monikers (aka Celebrities). I'll probably bring some larger games too, but those all fit in my backpack.

Don't forget your badges!

Anyone up for joining me with the D&D and MTG stuff?

I might do a session or two again this year. My buddy Rob (who joined us last year) will be back again as well; I'll see if he's interested.

Thursday, Friday, and Sunday will be for hanging out with the GWJ crew. Saturday will be doing whatever the fam wants to do.

Some of us are just lazy!

(calendar updated now)

Also thanks for the reminder to bring the badges, I could have easily forgotten them otherwise.

Can I ask a favor of people staying in hotels? If you can spare them, please bring some paper and a pen from your room tonight and give them to me so we can play Celebrities sometime this weekend (possibly tonight, even). If you've never played, it takes about 5 slips of paper per person and it's nice if we have enough pens for everyone.

I'm so jealous of those who are already in-town for PAX. Can't wait to meet you all tomorrow!

I have landed us a nice long table at the Food Hall. I think most of you would recognize me, but I made some improvised GWJ markers for the table if you don't!

Apparently Whatsapp is a good way for us to coordinate. Get it if you ain't got it.

I just installed WhatsApp. Not sure how you add folks, but if you can search by name, mine is Stephen Carmichael

Hey, a friend of mine is looking for a bed if anyone has an extra. Thanks!

DMing you.

Has the S&T already happened or is there something going on tonight with the GWJ folks?

S&T was last night. Not sure if we are doing anything tonight. Most have already gone to bed.

We'll be back in TableTop tomorrow.

A reminder to get thyself on WhatsApp to coordinate with GWJ goings on! Once you've installed it, use it to message me (including your GWJ handle) and I can add you. My cell is 619.876.7139. I will respond as quickly as I can though my gen-X brain is lousy with the multitasking.

Some people are using the GWJPAXS google calendar to share stuff they are doing or thinking about doing. I've found it a useful way to link up with others to go see a panel and filter the overwhelmingness that is PAXS. DM me on WhatsApp with an email and I can add you to that as well to allow you to see and edit that calendar.

Most of my crew will be in TableTop from about 2:30pm on and will try to link up with the Houston and Austin gangs who are there.

Just had to jump in and say how excellent it was to meet those of you who attended PAX South 2018. PewPewRobo, many, many thanks for being the main coordinator for the group, and I am already excited to game with you all online while we patiently wait for 2019 to arrive.

If anyone is in the DFW area this year, hit me up on WhatsApp!

So did y'all get an email from True Dungeon today? Did you see the section about ordering Treasure Tokens?

They have levels of $1000, $2000, $4000, and $8000!

I had a lot of fun at True Dungeon, but not that much. It looks like you can only use these tokens at four events per year max. I knew some of the tokens were expensive and rare, but that's a pretty serious commitment to True Dungeon.

I saw that the other day. I'm with you...really enjoyed TD, but definitely not enough to invest $$ into it, especially not at the $1k-8k range! That said, I'm already geared-up for next year. Probably going to spend a LOT more time hanging with ya'll in the Tabletop area than the expo hall.

New dates announced!!!

Jan 18-20

I booked a room at the Tru by Hilton hotel for $104 a night. I figured if there are discounted rates with tickets I can cancel later.

Who wants to start the new thread?

And who wants to organize True Dungeon since Pewpew may not be able to anymore?

Where'd you see the dates announced? I thought I had Twitter notifications for the appropriate accounts.

The Facebook group actually.

I just checked the official site and you're right! Everyone, schedule your vacation time now!

And the adventure begins anew
