Wow classic?

I vaguely remember that from day 1 in 2004. Robear let me make a character in Durotar. There was a large line to kill the scorpion Sarkoth, from what I remember, the head of the line gets the first hit and the next two in line would help finish him off after he was tagged to help maximize time efficiency. Maybe 3 times at various points while I was in the queue some jerkwad who didn't want to wait would come in and steal Sarkoth and was reported for griefing. Generally it seems people will cooperate though there are those people who are just so important they cannot wait.

I remember it took like 3 to 4 months to max level to 60 back at launch. Wonder how long it will take someone now.

Someone is pushing 30 as of noon EST.

Probably want to get that sweet level 40 mount so they can lord it over everyone. Server forums are live now.

Was pretty excited to try it again after 10+ years. Don't know what it is but at the end of the night didn't click with me anymore. I couldn't decide if it was the age of the game , or my old age, either way I am happy with my test run and unsubbed.

More power to the those of you who are having a blast

I’m one of those people. I just love how crunchy it is and the increased difficulty. It definitely gets tedious at times, like the ten minute hike it takes to get anywhere in some zones, but overall I’m enjoying WoW more than I have in a long time.
And talent trees, oh god how I missed the talent trees.

I still imagine I'll burn out soon enough, but it is the only thing I have been playing since tuesday.

I am enjoying it much more than I expected. Sure, it is insanely tedious too often, classes are a shadow of what they become later (even if current WoW classes are also a shadow of what they were before). But the exploration and progression is so far above what you get in modern WoW, even though we have already seen it before.
Like yesterday, in Stranglethorn, a friend and I try to do a lvl 40 quest, as lvl 33, not realizing just how brutal the quest actually is. We invite 2 others, and go for an epic journey into cave full of lvl 37-40 human bandits which my mage are nearly unable to hit. Felt like a difficult dungeon and we barely manage to finish the quest. But it was fun.

And yeah, I dont necessarily need talent trees (like I think getting rid of them in Diablo 3 was fine, and back when WoW talents got removed it seemed like the right choice too), but the choices in the talent trees in classic wow was not as uninteresting as Blizzard likes to describe them.

Is the cooking still there?

I remembered that I went along with a guild and quests, and they let me because I baked stuff for everyone. Goes to show how bad I was as a player. All I could do was fish and gather and cook something.

i played a bunch, really enjoyed it, much more than the couple occasions i've gone back to try retail. but also remember how much time it used to take to prep for MC runs etc, just can't justify that kind of time commitment. unless i had a specific group i was leveling with once a week or something not sure i'm happy playing casually.

i do like having the talent trees back though.

i have noticed a lot more warlocks this time around, and (at least on the server i'm on) lot of people not wanting them in instances which is annoying.

Pretty neat to see MC and Onyxia cleared in less than a week by a guild other than Method.

Via Wowhead, the most popular Classic classes based on traffic to their classic character leveling guides:

1. Mage
2. Warrior
3. Warlock
4. Hunter
5. Rogue
6. Priest
7. Druid
8. Shaman (which is Horde only)
9. Paladin (which is Ally only)

... speaking of which, I wonder if the Shockadin is a thing again.

Is the 2h windfury shaman a thing again too? Man that was so OP in PvP.

I'll stay on the fence till they charge a fiver a month.

They've not drop the price in 15 years...

I love it. Much than I thought I would. It's pulling on all my heartstrings, but it's not just nostalgia.
This is a World, instead of a Game. And even though I don't really have the time for that anymore, that still makes it better.
