Wow classic?

That's kinda why I want to play it. I remember Wrath and not much else. With a mix of age and mental illness I don't really remember anything from Classic, except for the Naxx promo event, and the opening of Ahn Qiraj.

anyone jumping into this? what server?

i originally played from day 1, I want to say my raiding guild broke up around patch 1.7 and I left not long after, so this is probably right around how I remember the game. Thought I may jump in, though more casually this time (probably no more 2+ hour molten core raids for me).

I am heavily on the fence.

I have very fond memories of WoW, playing capture the flag with some tank running and a wizard throwing fire balls and alike... never thought it was possible. But it as like Unreal in mmrpog and unheard and unseen for me before.

I have fond memories of finally getting my stead, 40 goldpieces! And trotting through Gank Forest just for pure enjoyment.

Somehow I am afraid it hasn't aged well.. because it has been done hundreds of times afterwards. Maybe it should stay in memory...

I only really did PvE, and occasionally world PvP, never was much into the battlegrounds. But I've gone back and played a few times over the years, whenever they offered free days, etc. Game just seems I don't know, too big to play casually now, too much inflation over the years, I couldn't get into it. I think removing the talent trees made the classes feel less interesting too.

I played vanilla WoW as early as patch 1.4, I believe. I remember those being interesting times. I remember spending a LOT of time in the Barrens. I also remember forcing myself to learn how to silence chat channels specifically because of Barrens chat. While the nostalgia meter is high for this, I also remember many of the subsequent patches and expansions holding quality of life upgrades that I don't know if I want to play without. Will the chat channels of all major cities be tied together? Will dungeon finder be active? Will it have actual PvP instances? All these things were added in my lifetime of playing it.

Hard pass. I finally made my way to Nazj (and got to honored today - woot) and there's a lot of WoW / work / life stuff ahead for me.

Nostalgia's a helluva drug but I'm going to abstain.

Six months from now, who knows, right?

Definitely in day 1 again. Whether I am also in day 2 remains to be seen. I doubt I’ll ever raid again, though MC etc should be easy enough that it can be done casually.

same here, i resubscribed today because i had a $15 credit burning a hole in my account, no idea if I'll continue after that first couple weeks.

I used to love WoW (played since beta). I just can't go back though. I tried with EQ after some time and it was terrible. At the time, EQ was great! But it didn't age well.

I'm not saying it's the same for WoW, but it was a very different and less forgiving game than it is now. While I'd love to relive the game and how excited I used to get, I just don't see that it would be the same as it was.

I’m jumping back in. At least for a bit of good old fashioned leveling. I prefer Horde, is anyone setting up a guild or anything?

I've got a few friends jumping back in. Horde on Herod and Alliance on Thalnos. Both are PvP. As the sentiments have been repeated here, I have no idea how long people will play. But if we need a starting point, we can join up there if nobody else has their mind set on a different server.

I give it a month at most and then the Chuck Norris jokes will be far and few in Barrens chat.

FYI what server are people jumping on for WoW Classic?

Probably Pyrewood Village in Europe. I think I'm getting too... old, for pvp servers.

I set up on Stalagg in the US, mostly because it wasn't full.

Only realized today that Battlegrounds wont be in the game from the start. Only in "phase 3", whenever that is. Thought the phases were mostly for the raids/dungeons.
I guess we will still have Tarren Mill...

If anyone else haven't really paid attention either:

Phase 1 (Launch)
Molten Core
Onyxia
Maraudon
Open World PvP only (no honor or rewards)

Phase 2
Dire Maul
Azuregos
Kazzak
Honor System (including Dishonorable Kills)
PvP Rank Rewards

Phase 3
Blackwing Lair
Darkmoon Faire
Darkmoon Faire deck drops begin
Alterac Valley (version 1.12 4.1k)
Warsong Gulch

Phase 4
Zul'Gurub
Green Dragons
Arathi Basin

Phase 5
Ahn Qiraj War Effort begins
Ahn'Qiraj raids open when the war effort dictates
Dungeon loot reconfiguration: Tier 0.5 dungeon gear, Relics, drop rates, and location changes

Phase 6
Naxxramas
Scourge Invasion
World PvP objectives in Silithus and Eastern Plaguelands

Whoa damn, I had no idea it ran like that! I assumed BGs would be in since they were around in 1.13.

Really not fond of their insistence on iterating through everything they did the first time even if players back then hated it. I know it's what some people asked for, but...

I'm looking forward to the first phase the most, with world pvp and no battlegrounds or honor points. It felt more pure in those days, but I'm sure my glasses are rose-colored.

Im in day one, on the European RP-PVP server - cant remember the name right now.

I'm opting for the RP-PvE server. There is a guild that seems to be collecting older original players on Horde side I've reserved a Troll named Zabinka, but Ziggs and Tallen are contacts. They have a discord that I found in the Bloodsail Buccaneers Discord. Have fun!

i've opted to jump on Skeram (PvP) as Horde. Did alliance the first time around, figured I'd give horde a try.

I'm considering getting on Westfall (PvE) when it opens. I keep going back and forth on if I'm also too old for PvP.

They charge $14.99 a month for classic?

I think that's a bit steep, compared to Netflix...

yea, hopefully they put out a classic only subscription.

I actually cancelled Netflix to justify the $15. But really, I spend $7 once/twice a month or so just on a special coffee drink while out. Or $$ on bottled drinks in bulk. So, I don't know. I feel $15 for entertainment during my free time 5 days a week is totally worth it.

The lag is real. Managed to pick up a quest. Killing a mob is impossible.

same, i'm just hanging out working ui and keybinding config, trying to play now is nuts.

Oceanic server stability is ok, but tagging mobs is pretty tough with the sheer number of other murderhobos immediately pouncing on them. Getting moshpits on top of named bosses required for quests.

(wipes away a tear) they've really recreated the vanilla experience...

My kids taking hours to go to sleep sort of worked out in my favour, as that was just enough time to get through the queue.

I decided to start out playing as an Orc, I only ever played Alliance when I dallied in vanilla back in the day, so I'm getting an interesting mix of nostalgia and newness.

There's a screenshot floating around of people forming queues to tag/loot quest mobs. Kind of amazed at how organized it is.
