GeForce 560 ti?

Hi all,

My son has a low-end, hand-me-down PC, and his video card seems to have had it (upon launching even the least graphically-intensive games, it sounds like a jet, gpu temp jumps to 90C+, and PC shuts down). I don't really have the time or inclination to build him a new system right now, and he doesn't need anything modern anyway--Minecraft and Half Life 2 are what he plays most.

Anyone have an old 560 laying around that I could buy?

Or, another old card compatible with the following, in the same form factor?

H61MLV LGA 1155 H61 MicroATX Intel Motherboard
Pentium G630 2.7GHz LGA 1155 Processor
TC102 Mid Tower ATX Computer Case with 500W Power Supply
Vengeance Series 8GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL9 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit (Two 4GB Memory Modules)
GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1024MB GDDR5 PCIe 2.0 x16 Video Card

Thanks!

How much are you looking to pay? There are 560 ti's on eBay right now going for anywhere from $30 to $80 (I personally wouldn't pay more than ~$50 for one).

I'm assuming your son only plays relatively undemanding, eSports-type games? The current entry-level cards like the GT 1030 and RX 550 come pretty close to the 560 ti in performance, can handle eSports titles at 1080p on middling settings, and for $75-80 you'd have a brand new card under warranty that's also more power efficient.

Thanks, Middcore. Yes, I was thinking $50 or less. I looked at a couple of newer video cards that are easier to find, and the PSU is no problem. I have seen a couple of cards (GTX 750 ti and R7 260X) that occasionally come up for sale cheap, and supposedly help reduce the load on the weak dual core processor. I'll look into the cards ou mentioned as well.

Either of those cards are roughly equivalent to the 560 ti in performance and you can find them on eBay for ~$50. I'd definitely take either of them over another 560 ti just to have a much newer card.

Thanks again. Found a GT 1030.
